Wonderful!
This book is not only wonderfully illustrated, but wonderfully written as well. It is a great way to reinforce a trip to the beach and to remind kids of what a wonderful time they had there. My 4-year old absolutely loves it!

Absolutely beautiful illustrations - makes a great gift.
This is the book (among others) I always give away at 1 and 2 year old birthday parties. I also gave it to my 4.5 year old nephew (who is developmentally delayed - he does not speak) and it turned out to be his favorite among the ones I gave him. My 2 year memorized the words and used to ask for it every night before bed. The illustrations are so realistic and beautiful. The pictures look like painted photographs and capture the beauty of a day at the beach. It's like visiting the ocean every time you open it. Whenever I am at the bookstore, I take it off the shelf and leave it out on display so people can see it. That is how I found it.

Hello Ocean
This wonderful picture book of a day at the ocean is mesmerizing. Reminding me of my childhood with my family in New England...the illustrations captured the feeling with such emotion, they look identical to loving photographs. Any child reading this book or having it read to them, will be in awe of their day at the ocean...or at least imagining their day at the ocean..

An Environmentalist's Must-Read
Marks' fine book has educated and inspired me to be more sensitive towards water conservation efforts in my community, and more aware of how important water is to every facet of human existence. Most of all, Marks' writing style makes complicated scientific theories accessible to the "average reader" like me. His stories of his travels and experiences are vivid and fascinating. I've bought several copies of this book for my friends, too. If the politicians in Washington had read this book, we might have a better future.

Water Bible Through Head, Heart and Hands
William Mark's incredible journey is of relational knowing. One that is timeless creation that speaks to each and everyone through spirit, academic findings, wonder and proactive awareness. His book has enlivened my senses of sustaining life and believe that his knowledge should be read by all who care of life and also those working in the field of hydrology.

Water Bible... an experts personal perspective on Water&Life
The Holy Order of Water gives the reader an experts intimate
perspective on water and life.Marks' water journey takes us to places we've never been before... from the origins of life on this and other planets to the historial rituals and roles that water has played throughout civilization.Health and healing issues that are influenced by water and its magical properties are explored in depth based upon the latest scientific research,as well as the authors life changing personal experience
with water as a healing agent. His story line alerts us to the
urgency of enviromental controls necessary to insure the safeguard and preservation of our most precious resource.Must reading for all who cherish the taste of pure water enjoyed by our forefathers.

Would I have gotten into the "Murder Machine"?
It's hard to say. Especially since the term referred to the Hunley murdering its Confederate crews.

An excellent book, in its coverage of the remnants of myth and truth about the the Confederacy's "underwater torpedo boats". I recently became aware of a Confederate submarine (not covered in the book), that is currently being conserved by the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans, and is due to be on permanent display in the museum in Baton Rouge, sometime in late 2002. It's origin is not known to this day, however, it predated the Pioneer I, the American Diver (Pioneer II), and the Hunley. It appears all four subs were designed in Louisiana, but the American Diver and Hunley were built in Mobile.

The book tells the true story of the development and lineage of the Hunley. However, now that the Hunley is being conserved ( with a guesstimation of about 10 more years), many of the technical aspects are being found to be inaccurate, in the light of the daily discoveries during conservation.

I recently viewed the Hunley movie prop ship, touring in South Carolina (see the Hunley website for details), that was built for the Turner movie "The Hunley". The rudder mechanism, and prop drive train has been found to be different, and all of the exterior rivets were ground smooth (as spec'd for the Pioneer I, which is covered in the book).

The crews have been referred to as the Astronauts of the 1860's. The Hunley, and it's predecessors, are an incredible story in technology, and humanity. This book does tribute to its time in the history of this country.

The Source Book..on the C.S.S. Hunley
This book is a must have for the Hunley addict. It is obvious Mark Ragan did his homework on this book. It contains a great deal of information on the contruction of the first successful submarine and the mishaps that plagued it. The photos and illustrations are great and many I have not seen before. You really get the feeling of the importance of this vessel and the dedication of the crew and the designers of the submarine. It is a shame this book has had very limited availability. It should be of great interest to anyone who has been following the recovery and preservation of this unique ship.

A "gotta have" for every Hunley freak
Have read everything I could lay my hands on about the Hunley and nothing could satisfy my craving for detail and plauseable speculation until this came along. Admitedly many of our unanswered questions will remain so. Others will yield to the scrutiny of scientists and historians in a Charleston Lab. Until then, we have this gem! Ragan is a relentless detective and goes peering into nook and cranny. Which of the two versions of the first sinking at the Johnson Island dock is the more credible? Its in here. What was a German artilleryman doing inside a sub and how did he get there? Its in here. Any leads on other previously unidentified sailors? Thats in here too! Dixon becomes more alive than ever and more than fulfills the almost mythic image of the Confederate hero. Chocked full of interesting and previously unpublished documents and photographs, this is THE authoritative account.

Ready to tackle the CCNA!
I just finished reading this book cover to cover and feel very confident about moving on to the next stage of my CCNA preparation, practice tests and simulation! I've been using the CCExam software from CCStudy.com as well as a few other practice tests and am amazed how easy a lot of the questions were after reading this book. Just an indication of how comprehensive this book is.

More important, in my opinion, is the book's "readability"! I'm sure there are numerous books that cover the exact same information as this book yet might not be written in a manner that is clear and simple to understand, especially for Cisco newbies like myself. This book is just a lot of fun to read.

Finally, I really enjoyed the "real world" tone of this title. It isn't written for someone who's bound for the testing center, but rather for someone who needs to apply the knowledge at work in the field. I'm certain that I'll constantly be using this book as a reference even after passing the exam. Very cool.

All in all, I'd like to recommend ICND to the Cisco neophyte who's looking for that great "First Book" to start off his or her Cisco library. I'm really glad I got this book and I'm sure you will be too.

Good luck on your CCNA!

Excellent Book........
I read ICND by Cisco Press before. I found this book used on Amazon and bought it just because it was cheap. Now I can not put it down. This book is far better than Cisco Press' ICND. It has about 100 more pages than Cisco's. To me it is worth every minute spent to read this book.
I passed CCNA in December. So, I don't have the exam pressure. I am reading this just for fun and enjoying it.
I strongly recommend it over Cisco's ICND if you intent to take CCNA test.

MUST have for CCNA2.0!
I pass ccna2.0 with 935/1000 today. All I have is this book and Boson exams. I've read my friend's Todd Lammle book. I think this book is much better than Todd's. Todd's is written for passing the exam. For the ICND book, you actally learn the CCNA stuff in depth. I strongely recommend this book for everyone who want to pass the CCNA2.0 with FULLY understanding.

Lemuria Comes Alive in this Book
Trying to prove that Lemuria actually existed is a daunting task for any investigator. But if Mark Williams' readers give its former existence the benefit of a doubt, the wealth of descriptive material he presents is sure to make even the most skeptical among them pause for reconsideration. Having traveled to many of the same places throughout the world he researched, I know his interpretations of these locations in the context of the
lost Pacific civilization are correct. His book is not an airy-fairy re-hash of everything re-stated from the 19th Century onward. Instead, he gives us fresh information and credible insights that serve as a modern up-date on this perennially fascinating subject. As such, it at once serves as a superb introduction for readers unfamiliar with Lemuria, and a rich sourcebook more seasoned investigators will find invaluable. While writing "Edgar Cayce's Atlantis and Lemuria" last year, I relied on some of his unique discoveries to support my own conclusions. Having read and re-read Mr. Williams' book, I felt closer to Lemuria than ever before. It should have the same effect on others.

As mystical as Atlantis yet far less well-known
In Search Of Lemuria: The Lost Pacific Continent In Legend, Myth And Imagination by journalist, editor, and freelance writer Mark Williams is a serious and fascinating look at the lost continent of Lemuria as reflected in the mythologies of Hindus, Australian Aborigines, Polynesians and American Indians. As mystical as Atlantis yet far less well-known, Lemuria's very existence is presented as an open question, and addressed in a thoughtful and well-reasoned discourse. A fascinating and spiritual treatise that embraces metaphysical understanding as well as that of hard science, In Search Of Lemuria is enthusiastically recommended to students of mythology, metaphysics, and paleoarchaeology.

Broaden your horizons
This is a book that really makes you think outside of the boundaries of the average scope of things. The history and archeology information is well worth reading in itself. The possibilities of things that could have happened are endless, and this version is very interesting and intriguing. The way the author describes all phases as related to different parts of our world is fascinating.. And all of it is based on fact and first hand reviews. Buy it!!

In the Classroom
Published in Hardcover by MacMillan Publishing Company. (September, 1996)
Author: Mark Gerson

Mark Gerson cares about children
As an urban educator, no book is more valuable to me than this one. Understanding the problems of today's urban schools means reading Gerson's In The Classroom.

One Fast Read
In the Classroom is one fast read: I downed it in one night. Right from the beginning, Gerson's account of teaching in the inner city is gripping. Tired, old assumptions are put to rest and new, provocative questions are raised by someone who was actually "there". Perhaps the best aspect of this book is the dialogue. The dialogue is so vivid that reader is taking a seat in Gerson's classroom. If it is not already clear, I highly recommend this book

This is a great, no-nonsense book that you should buy.
If you're like me, you're a sort of level-headed, moderate-to-conservative American who is sick and tired of political extremism, government bureaucracy, and dumb ideas. You know what you like, and you base your political ideology on common sense, plain and simple. If all that is true, you'll enjoy Gerson's story of a spending a year in an inner-city New Jersey Catholic high school teaching American history. Gerson is the sort of guy who is not afraid to pull punches. If a student does something wrong, he is punished rather than pampered (eg, forced to listen to Sinatra during detention), and the results are amazing. A must-read

Great for Troubleshooting
Although it does not address routing protocals,it covers everything else.

Great complement to CIT
I am currently studying for my last CCNP exam : support.

I find this book a great complement of CIT.

There is an error in book description : it is 1025 pages (not 714, which should be the size of the paperback edition), so it is much more complete than the online version on CCO.

I reccomend it in addition to CIT for passing support.

Note : I passed the 3 previous ccnp exams first try by using cisco ccnp course books.

Wont teach troubleshooting skills but good for diagnosis...
While this may not TEACH you how to troubleshoot a network (get Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting for that), this book is good since it provides details relating to error messages etc and also in-depth explanation of numerous messages that you are likely to encounter in yr Cisco powered Network. Use it as a handy reference

Well written and very practical
I've been a Test Engineer for 13 years and take it from me, this book is so close to real life situation. It obviously written by people who practice the art of Test Engineering. I wish that I had this book in my very 1st year. This is the bible for every TE.

A truly practical book
Most texts on testing seem to be written for the design engineer. They talk a lot about the fault model, the doping process, how the pattern generation algorithms are not perfect...It's like teaching Chemistry at a cooking class.
But don't get me wrong, this is not a cookbook. It does teach a fair amount of "Chemistry". But it's able to show the reader why the theories are relevant and how to apply them. The solutions are presented in the context of the problems, not the other way around, like most text books.

best book on the matket for mixed signal test
I looked for a book which covers all the important issues for
mixed signal test. This book delivers all the nesessery information for a mixed signal test Eng. It explains all
issues very simple and because of so many example it is
very useful even for not-experienced people.

Moving for what it is, not how it's written
This short biography of Mark Bingham, who died on Flight 93 that terrible day of September 11, 2001, most likely as a member of a heroic group attempting to thwart the hijackers who had taken over his plane, is carefully written and researched by one of the senior editors of the Advocate. He's done the best job possible of presenting Mark Bingham as the human being he was, which includes the fact that he was a gay man. The parallels and differences drawn between Bingham and the gay man who saved Gerald Ford from possible assassination by Sara Jane Moore are very striking and food for thought. Most of the quotes are carefully chosen and only occasionally, as in a long string of e-mail correspondence between Bingham and a friend, is there a suspicion of padding.

Ultimately the impact of this book is muted solely by the fact that no words can adequately reproduce the impact of the attacks that changed America forever, and too many facts tend to obscure, rather than clarify, the subject and its attendant emotions. The short quote from Mark Bingham about his philosophy of life near the end of the book, as related by one of his friends, is more moving in context than anything else. If you know what I'm talking about, it's not necessary to read the rest; if you don't, it's worth buying the book just to read that.

To Do What I Can With My Time on Earth
Reading this book was the most moving experience I have had in a long time. I really wish I had the honor of having known Mark Bingham, but now I find that I mourn his loss just as if I had. He, along with the others of Flight 93, should never be forgotten for their ultimate act of bravery. It will take me a long time to get this short account of such a rich and full life out of my mind, and it will never leave my heart. We must all promise ourselves never to forget Sept. 11 and stick together the way Mark did with those he loved. Rest in peace, Mark, and God bless all of you.

My Friend, My Hero
What a wonderful book protraying Mark for who he was. I had the honor of knowing this fine man. It was wonderful to read about different things that happened in Mark's life and remembering him telling me about those times.

September 11, 2001, brought many heroes forth. I do not think people in our nation really knew what others would do for others and and what cost to themselves. Mark's selfless acts were a modest reflection of the many things he did for others.

His story is extremely well told and will give you more insight into the day will now think of as, Patriot Day. He was truly a patriot. His actions and those of all the people on board Flight 93 have given us hope since they fought the first battle against terrorism.

Shame on Doubleday
Mark Richard is simply the best current short story writer (with some competition from Tom Franklin). While no single story in this collection rivals Richard's "masterpiece," the story BIRDS FOR CHRISTMAS collected in CHARITY, each piece is subtle, precise, brilliant.

However, the overall enjoyment of the book is hampered somewhat by the shameful job performed by the publisher (Doubleday). ICE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD feels like it's printed on two-ply paper towels shoved between dry cleaning shirt cardboards which serve as the cover. You worry something must be wrong with the book because the publisher did such a cost cutting - dismissive job in producing it.

The Ice at the Bottom of the World
I've never read a short story collection like this one. I've since read it dozens of times and have sought out everything written by Mark Richard. The most frustrating thing about his books is that he doesn't write them fast enough.

Macabre, hilarious, desperate, heartwarming
Macabre, hilarious, desperate, heartwarming, Mark Richard's collection is stunning in its stark juxtaposition of a gamut of emotions and moods. The prose is sparse, and all the more evocative because of it. The world Richard depicts is itself sparse - his characters take their comfort where they can. It is a world of immense cruelty and immensely harsh beauty. There is pain in this washed out, painted over landscape of mudflats, fairgrounds and burning shacks, but also a piercing redemptive vision. As I read I found the first story superlative, then the next, then the next, right to the end. Books may not change your life, but this one may well leave its images searing your imagination for a long time. When I consider the lack of attention Mark Richard has received for his fiction, I'm tempted to believe there's no justice in the world at all, but then I realise that for such a gem of a book to exist at all is a kind of secret miracle. Witness it while you can.
