As a teacher in a middle school, teamwork is very important to me. I picked up this workshop on cassette because I felt there were some aspects of our team that were dysfunctional. Sanborne presents some very specific opinions about teams and the role of individuals in any work group. His theories aren't just concepts out of context though. He presents some very solid habits, practices and useful advice for making a team more effective.
He begins by outlining some very basic principles of what teamwork is, and breaks down misconceptions of team work. Then he moves to specific strategies offered to make team playing more effective. He has advice for administrators, managers, middlemen and even the "lowly" intern that make effective teamwork.
His tape also addresses Risk Taking, Effective Communication, Team Recruiting, Job Trading, Management Training, Empathy at work, Goal Setting, and the effectiveness of increased responsibility. Practitioners of his benchmarks that provide good examples of his concepts include business giants such as Wal-Mart, and McDonalds as well as others.
Though the trends talked about in his tape are reflective of yesterday's corporate trends, he has very good ideas that are still practical and useful today. I am eager to pick up the tape and listen to it again in August, just before school starts this fall because it will reinforce the practical strategies I have developed from his advice. I strongly suggest implementing Mark's ideas because they are sound and practical. Putting them into practice will make any team more efficient, successful and dynamic.

Having written this book four times, I am not the best critic to judge it. I still like it, and our plans for the fifth edition with a new publisher appeal to me.

A better book on the practical theology of evangelism would be hard to find. Valuable chapters on basic communication theory which are important for Christians to consider. Also excellent discussion of "initiative" vs. "friendship" evangelism, as well as issues to consider as one talks to people of different faith backgrounds, including nominalists and agnostics.

According to the author, this book is designed for high school or college students familiar with physics who plan to major in science. (This includes me.) That said, this book crams so much into 122 pages that I got whiplash from reading some of the derivations. Some of them are just impossible to follow. I don't know how anyone coming from a first year physics course can absorb thermodynamics in one chapter, which is what this book tries to accomplish.. I still have no concept of the mathematical meaning of entropy. However, this book covers so many interesting topics that it's worth buying. These include superconductors, superfluidity, blackbody radiation, negative temperatures (i.e., beyond absolute zero), plasmas, fusion, and everything else you would expect. (Keep in mind that it is fairly dated, though, it's a reprint of a 1964 edition.)

This book is an excellent resource for the politico who follows Tennessee politics or is just interested in the politics of an historically complicated and ever-changing state!

Having grown up around Tennessee politics from birth, I can honestly say that this book hits all the points. I wish the undergraduate university I attended in Tennessee had offered a course on Tennessee Politics and used this book to teach from. If any poly sci professors are reading this, do it! It will be such a great class!

I enjoyed this work. Even though it was not an exhaustive report on General Sherman, (as it probably never was intended to be), it was interesting and thought provoking. I especially liked the somewhat fresh ideas on Sherman's treatment of the Carolinas after his well known march to the sea. Not all authors have the poetry and flow of a Carl Sandburg but Mark Coburn has a style that makes this work an enjoyable read as opposed to some that can lose you in details that are not important to the issue. If you can obtain a copy, I would recommend you do so.

615 positions aranged by theme with each chapter illustrating particular ideas (decoying, pinning, attraction, etc.) followed by exercises for the reader to solve. Included is a section containing varied positions and studies which test the player's understanding without indicating the type of combination involved. The positions are virtually all taken from games and the solutions discuss alternative moves. The positions are more difficult than either Reinfeld "1001" book's positions, less dramatic (few one-move queen sacs leading to mate) and more likely to occur (e.g., an exchange on one side leading to the loss of a suddenly undefended piece/pawn.) That is this book's main strength: presenting tactics that you're likely to see often. I have rarely sacrificed a queen, delivered a smother mate, or checkmated a king after a double rook sac in serious games but I've often decoyed a defender away from defending a pawn/piece, exploited a pin, or "destroyed a guard." If you can find this book, it's worth considering.

This textbook presents topics in a clear, concise manner while providing the detail necessary for the study of pediatric critical care. It is considered the definitive text for this field. However, it is somewhat dated and pricey.

This book is pretty new in thin-client field. I got the general(not too technical) concept and information from this book. If you are a freshman in thin client field, this book is a good start. After this book, you may try the "Windows NT Thin Client Solutions" from Todd W. Mathers & Shawn P. Genoway or "Windows NT Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame" from Ted Harwood.
