A Great Book
In July of 1968 I found myself standing in line ready to start basic training at Ft Dix N.J. Standing next to me was a hippie - long hair, beard, hippie clothes. That hippie was Mark Jury and over the next two months we became close friends. Mark detested the war, as did I, but he was determined to see it first hand. Mark expected to be assigned to the infantry but in its infinite wisdom, the Army assigned Mark to the Information Service - or some such thing - and gave him free reign to cover Vietnam. The result is this wonderful book. I went on to Offocer Candidate School and ended up in Vietnam several years later. I was assigned to the cushy part of Vietnam working for the generals. Mark shows this part in all its opulent, luxurious silliness but he also shows the dirty part where the "canon fodder"- kids just out of high school - got shot. He shows the Vietnamese hospitals where children misfortunate enough to stumble onto mines were sent. He shows the insanity of racism among the GI's. In a word, he shows it all. The pictures are powerful and they are enhanced by Mark's perceptive commentary. If you want to see what Vietnam was like, read this book.
To me, this book shows what the Vietnam war was like.
This book shows it all: the fun, the botherhood, the grief, the stupidity, the arrogance, the cynicism. When someone asks "what was vietnam like?" I set them down with this book.
Jury is an honest photojournalist with a young person's eye. The photos are straightforward, clear, well composed, non gimmicky.
A good book. Any Vietnam vet should have a copy.

Vince's Unauthorized Autobiography
I really liked reading the book, though I already knew most of the information written. Mark did a good job of portraying Vince through his music, family, and fans. I absolutely adore the pictures. Vince is my favorite singer of all times. I believe Vince has the best voice and the kindest heart in Country Music ever. I recommend buying this book if you're interested in knowing all the particulars from Vince's past to the present, at least to before he and Amy started dating. Love, Debbie Vince and Amy's Sister In Christ
"Must" reading for all Vince Gill fans!
This unauthorized biography of the country musician provides an important account of Gill's performances, life, and career, charting his early musical influences and his strategy for releasing his music. The focus on his musical approaches is particularly revealing.

Revealing stories
" The Violence Prone Workplace is a revealing collection of true stories of troubled workers. The stakes are very high in these case studies. Richard Denenberg and Mark Braverman give us an invaluable resource for learning how to recognize these situations and deal with them constructively."--Robert J. Rabin, Syracuse University
a valuable resource
"Anyone connected with the workplace needs to know the valuable lessons about the origin and impact of workplace violence that Denenberg and Braverman have carefully distilled from the tragedies and case studies analyzed in this book, and then be cognizant of the useful methods they suggest for dealing with the increasing frequency of such occurrences in our society."-Jay S. Siegel, Harvard University. Former Chairman, Labor & Employment Section American Bar Association
Vision 2000: Praying Scripture in a Contemporary Way: A Cycle

An excellent scripture review for modern times
This book is wonderful for the faithful or those trying to bring more peace into their own hectic lives. It mixes the stories from scripture with a story by John Quincy Adams, George Foreman, or some other well known modern figure. Vision 2000 puts the "old" scripture messages into view for today. It would be great for group prayer meetings as well as the individual. You could even use it in Teen Youth Groups. A mainly Catholic book, I believe it could be beneficial to all Christian religions.
Excellent Scripture-based prayer book
This almost pocket-size prayerbook is based on the cycles of the liturgical year. This is the "A" cycle. I haven't been able to locate "B" and "C", but they are available somewhere. Each day's prayer starts with a Scriptural quote, then a story-application, and concludes with another quote - sometimes Scriptural, sometimes not.

Manifesting at it's best!
Marc Allen's simple exercises and easy story telling makes this book a delight to read. Not your every day affirmations but, concrete advice and simple information to sink your soul into. One of many all time favorite motivational books for anyone who loves what they do and wants the money and success to follow.
Practical, grounded steps to becoming successful
A VISIONARY LIFE is Marc Allen's sequel to VISIONARY BUSINESS. In its pages, he shows readers how they can expand their consciousness and significantly raise the quality of their lives. The book gains credence due to the fact that Allen embraced the principles in his book when he and Shakti Gawain founded New World Library, a flourishing publishing company. Given Allen's own success, it would seem that he knows what he's talking about. A VISIONARY LIFE is a visionary book because it transcends the airy platitudes found in many New Age books and get into the real, practical work that it takes to not only have a successful life but to be a successful person.

Visions of Excellence
Mark's autobiography of how he achieves his dreams allows the reader to experience his hard work and victories. He teaches us about how everything is born through a dream. To grow the seed into a definite stem requires visualization, determination, persisting through challenges, and taking control. Without these, Mark would never have become the hero he is today. It would be a remiss to any Canadians to not know about Mark Tewksbury's success. This book is a astonishing book that shows how an ordinary human being can bring upon his unique characteristics to become a hero. You learn that everyone is a hero within, as long as you can dream, that is. I would recommend this book to anyone out there who is still in search of a goal, or currently working on one. You may, in the end of the book too find your dream. Or, perhaps take Mark's success and strategies to encourage and motivate yourself to overcoming challenges.
Great book for everybody!
Mark Tewkbury is not only an increadible athlete, but an excellent motivational speaker. He takes everything he know about life, lessons we all should learn, and puts them into this book, together with his autobiography, he tells the reader how HE learned those lessons. Also, you can real it for the wonderful and inspiring story

Excellent source to learn VoiceXML right away
I bought this book last week and implemented most of the hands-on exercises in the book. The exercises are fun to do and the author's explanations are very clear and organized that made learning VoiceXML very interesting.
Now I feel very comfortable to write a VoiceXML script for my upcoming project. No to mention some typos in the scripts that provides you even better opportunity to learn hands-on.
A Great, Practical Guide
This book offers a great step-by-step approach. The working VoiceXML sites created in the book provide great, practical knowledge that you can put right to work. And the code-check database was very helpful in detecting where a program might have gone wrong. I would recommend this book for anyone getting started with VoiceXML.

By, not about, an Indian
The reader hears the authentic voice of a tribe of Indians of the US far west. Lee knows his people's language and uses Native words liberally. He exlains attitudes and concepts that were at such odds with white thinking that it made the Indians vulnerable to domination. He does not apologize for his people's culture. Adults whose knowledge of Indian life may have ended with elementary school social studies will find this book astonishing
This book is rich with detail about a Calif. Indian family.
Non-Indians reading "Walking Where We Lived" may have to re-think everything they once believed about California's indigenous population. On the eve of the state's sesquicentennial celebration, Gaylen D. Lee offers a view of the Gold Rush and subsequent settlement of California by Americans and immigrants that is clearly, from his perspective, nothing to celebrate. But Lee's book is hardly a whining narrative of the atrocities suffered by the native people of California. Instead, it is a celebration of his family and families like them who have managed to survive and perpetuate their culture, religion, and values despite the onslaught of intruders. Following the pattern of the seasons, Lee describes the lives of his ancestors, historical events which affected them, their loss of freedom, and the endurance of a way of life in the face of generations of adversity. "Walking Where We Lived" is rich with detail. Lee's description of the daily activities of his family and forbears is based upon knowledge passed to him and actual experience. As a child he accompanied his family to gather acorns, berries, and plant materials. He watched the women make baskets which he says are still used in his home. He learned to hunt and fish in the old way. Although he understood English, he spoke only the Nim language prior to beginning kindergarten in the mid-1950s. The generally peaceful life lived by the Nim and their fellows all over California was shattered as Americans moved to claim every inch of the new state following secession of the territory by Mexico and the world-famed gold rush. Stories of the Mariposa Indian Wars in the spring of 1851, and other skirmishes are generally told from the point of view of Central California settlers eager to rid their new land of pesky savages. "Walking Where We Lived" offers a view from the other side. It is not surprising for a man in Gaylen Lee's situation to be angry, and anger surfaces occasionally in his book. The region surrounding his life-long home place was once traversed freely by his ancestors. Now the land is fenced off and paved over. Rivers are dammed. Animals which once lived with and helped sustain the people are seldom seen. What is surprising, in the face of generally accepted lore about the Indians of California, is that Lee's family-and others-have maintained their culture and sense of community despite near annihilation.

Wallace and Gromit rock! They are the stars of some of the cleverest animation around. Great story to go with the film.
very humorous and witty
diabolically entertaining and cleverly humorous--this is my favorite "Wallace and Gromit". the penguin adds the much needed tension that seperates the mind set of the crafty dog Gromit from his simpleton owner, Wallace. it is an enjoyable narrative for all ages.

Blues hits Gold
Despite a slow beginning, this chilling tale of courage and loyalty grasps the reader and urges them to read further into the complex plot. Though the gangsters were slightly stereotypical, they still were believable and convincing, therefore not altering the book much. The characters were all well portrayed and the protagonist is brimming with courage and determination, much admired the readers. Historically, it was fairly accurate, what with the immigration from Ireland to Ellis Island and Prohibition. But, there was more slightly Irish History than American History. With Wash-Basin Street Blues: Nora in New York, Mark O'Sullivan took a complicated story and weaved it into a marvelous novel that any book-lover should add to their collection.
