Great for ANY player...
I love this book because you don't just read it once. The first thing I did was look at all the pictures. Next, I read the introduction. Then, I read the teamwork section. Then, I read the conclusion. Then, I tried some of the drills. Then, I showed the plays to my coach. And I still use this book, it's not just sitting on my bookshelf. This book will last you a long time, and is well worth the money. It's great for ANY basketball player, and it's even more ideal if the basketball player is an NBA fan.

Teaching Negotiation in the 21st Century
This introductory text to international negotiation is written with a clarity and conciseness that reflect its authors' years of experience with the ICONS project and negotiation training for students via simulation. Its presentation of a 'checklist' of negotiation characteristics, including actor, issue and process characteristics, allows the reader to explore factors that explain why each negotiation is unique. The added value of this text is its integration of web related links at the end of each chapter to illustrate that chapter's key points citing real life cases. The mix of theoretical concepts and practical experience makes this volume a hands-on reference tool as well as an invaluable primary text for online seminars in the emerging field of conflict resolution. Its explanation of two-level negotiations, highlighting the salience of domestic actors, is particularly relevant given the significance of intra-state conflict in the post cold war environment. In short, this volume's applicability to online teaching may prove to be one of its most striking and innovative contributions to the literature. It is strongly recommended as a text for 'fourth wave educators' interested in staying ahead of the curve via instruction in the Internet based global classroom.

Recommended
While not a 'how-to' guide to the Japanese market, the book is obviously based on the extensive personal experience of the authors and is full of valuable practical lessons for the foreign businessperson in Japan. The book follows the career of John the manager in his role as country manager for a U.S. medical device manufacturer (of penal implants, of all things). John manages to make almost every possible mistake as he attempts to penetrate the Japanese market with his products. John's gaffs and lessons are then conveniently analyzed at the end of each chapter. The easy and humorous style is well used to highlight the peculiarities of Japanese business practice and the common cultural pitfalls that any foreign businessperson in Japan is likely to encounter. The book should prove useful to anybody with an interest in doing business in Japan, and is a must read for any businessperson considering entering the Byzantine world of Japanese medicine. But beyond that, the book was just plain fun to read.

A Timely Topic
Talk about timing! Everyone should get their hands on this book. I had no idea how to figure out what to recommend to the higher-ups in these tight times. This book was a life-saver. If you can only buy one network service with the meager budget we all have these days, then this book will get you there."

This book gets to the nitty - gritty
I am studying for the MCSE, and this book has given me the best understanding of networks compared to the books I have read so far. The authors assume you want to learn exactly how networks work, not what is going to be on a test. Therefore, you actually learn material that you can use in the real world AND pass the test, unlike those "study guides".

This one is for those out there who want to actually understand how everything works, instead of just memorize a bunch of material.

Best ever book on neuroscience and human dreaming
This book is the first definitive investigation of the neurological basis of dreaming in humans. In a brilliant review of the world literature, it re-organises the main categories of neurological dream disorder (especially the surprisingly common loss of dreams, given the new name: 'anoneira'). It also details the results of the investigation of several hundred patients who have a wide range of brain lesions, and shows that site of lesion is systematically correlated with particular changes in dreaming. Most importantly, it demonstrates that the neurological basis of dreams is NOT the same as that of REM sleep - overthowing several decades of sleep-research dogma. The link between REM and dreams had previously been used to argue that dreams must be 'random mental noise' and without meaning, but this result undercuts this argument. In the final chapter Solms offers a model of the neurological basis of the normal dream process, which has clear implications for various dream theories (eg Freud's). The book also introduces a scientific method for the investigation of the neurological basis of dreams in HUMANS, which must be an advance on previous investigations on non-human animals.Because you can't ask animals whether they were dreaming, or what they were dreaming about, much previous research has focussed on the (discredited, see above) link between REM and dreams. This book is a milestone in dream research, and is highly recommended.

Never Said a Mumbalin' Word

An insightful work!
"Never Said a Mumbalin' Word" by Mark Francisco Bozzuti-Jones is an intelligent, well-written, multi-faceted lenten meditation guide, which introduces readers to the message of faith in goodness that is woven into the old negro spirituals.

Anyone even remotely familiar with black history may have wondered just how a people so oppressed and down-trodden could possibly maintain their will to survive...let alone hope for eventual acceptance and justice or hang onto their humanity.

As I read and reread this collection of unfamiliar spirituals and absorbed sentiments penned long before emancipation and equal-rights were taken seriously...I was fascinated by the coping mechanism that fairly leaped from the pages. The negroes' identification with the 'Man From Galilee' and the ancient Israelites made their hope possible. Like them, Jesus and the Israelites were good people who suffered greatly, but were eventually rewarded for their goodness (and suffering) by God. It was their belief that they too would be rewarded that enabled them to survive and eventually overcome.

Aside from the historical context, this book details basic exercises for meditation and introspection which don't require a degree in theology to comprehend and appreciate. Its simple, straight-forward style is quite refreshing and renders it suitable for teaching most age-groups. It's an interesting read and relatively inexpensive. I highly recommend it.

New Drug Development: A Regulatory Overview

Gray's anatomy for regulatory affairs
I once was told that in drug development regulatory affairs there wasn't an equivalent to a Gray's anatomy or a Goodman & Gilman's pharmacology textbook. Thus I had to jump right into the maze of FDA guidelines and the code of federal regulations (CFR). After I discovered and read the first few chapters of this book I went back to the experienced regulatory affairs person that told me that there wasn't such a textbook and said "here is Gray's anatomy for regulatory affairs!" Indeed, the book covers all regulatory aspects of drug development providing an extensive and clear description of all the regulatory requirements for each phase as well as providing an objective interpretation of the laws. What I most like about this book is that it is self-sufficient in that it summarizes and pulls the relevant guidances and regulations together for each phase in such a manner that the text flows easily and one does not have to stop reading it to look for the original guidance or CFR text. Even a copy of the relevant forms is included in each chapter (for instance form 1571 in the chapter about the IND) so that one can better follow the author's discussion about it. This self-sufficiency seems to be a major advantage of this book because in other regulatory manuals the norm seems to have a text full of links or advices to read the guidance before proceeding to the next sentence of the book which is annoying and many times unfeasible if you don't have immediate access to the myriad of FDA issued documents. Another good thing is that the author also provides down-to-earth but very important information such as who is the present director of a division, why did he/she achieved that position, who was the previous director, where/he she is right now. Overall it is the best textbook I've seen so far in regulatory affairs for prescription drugs.
