Good racing book.
I found "Think to Win" to be a great help in identifying and understanding areas of my racing that I didn't even know existed! I am positive that I am a better driver than I was before I read it. In fact, I read it every year before the season starts!

The Thirteen-Book Prelude (The Cornell Wordsworth)
Published in Hardcover by Cornell Univ Pr (December, 1992)
Authors: William Wordsworth and Mark L. Reed
Amazon base price: $325.00
Average review score:

A Fascinating Piece of Scholarship
The Prelude, divided into 14 books, was first published in 1850, a few months after Wordsworth's death. In 1926 a second version divided into 13 books was published. In this comprehensive two-volume edition in the Cornell Wordsworth series the photographs of the MSS are contained in the first volume and the transcriptions in the second. The reader is offered thousands of new substantive and accidental readings revealing with rare depth and precision WW's fascinating creative process spanning many years. A detailed history of the poem's growth from two books during 1798-1799 to 14 books during 1832-1850 is supplied by Reed in his introduction. Reed's patience and skill in editing this complex and daunting material deserves every praise. The physical aspect of the volumes is praiseworthy as well; unfortunately the MSS photographs are not always clear; but this does not in any way diminish the book's value.

Gripping portrait of the final days of the Army of Tennessee
Mark Bradley's second book is a worthy companion to his excellent book on Bentonville. This book takes a different approach, presenting the movements and subsequent surrender negotiations instead of the chaos of a pitched battle, but it works nontheless, infusing a different sort of drama and emotion. I found the descriptions of Sherman's army extremely interesting, and the fate of the Army of Tennessee was both moving and compelling. The book places the surrender of Johnston's army in its historical context, explaining the strong position that Johnston was negotiating from, and the possibility of uniting with Lee's army for another offensive, an event which worried Sherman greatly. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read Bradley's Bentonville work, as this provides the rest of the story. The only negative comment is that I miss the incredible maps by Mark Moore, which are not present in this work. Otherwise, Mark Bradley continues his tradition of a very readable first hand account.

A beautiful Thanksgiving book to share with your child.
I bought this book last year for my daughter who was two at the time. She loved this book so much that we have been reading it all year. This is a counting book with a Thanksgiving theme. The illustrations are so beautiful. It makes me miss New England in the fall. There are pictures of Native Americans and Pilgrims working and playing with their family and friends. This book was a great way for me to explain what Thanksgiving is all about to my young daughter. This is the pefect book to read on Thanksgiving but it it so beautiful that you will want to enjoy it all year long.

This Is Egypt
If you have ever wanted to visit Egypt, but never had the money or the chance, this book is for you. Through it's stunning photographs and rich text, the author takes you on a mental voyage through Egypt. Never have I felt so in touch with a place as when I was reading this book. Packed with educational value and brimming with facts, this book led me through a journey that I have again and again taken in my mind and in my dreams. The combination of Guy Marks's words and James Morris's pictures tempt the mind and the soul to wander the globe in search of the ancient histories of this fascinating place. I reccomend this book to all who have dreamed of Egypt and even to those who haven't, to open their minds to a new place in the world.

This One Thing I Now Know
Published in Paperback by Providence House Pub (01 May, 2000)
Author: Mark E. Howard
Amazon base price: $12.95

A VITAL BOOK ON A VITAL SUBJECT
There is no subject in life more important than that of knowing where you stand with God. In his book, Mark Howard shows how it is possible to grow up in a Christian family, earn a doctorate from a Christian university, become a pastor, and STILL not truly know Christ. In due season -- 29 years to be exact -- Mark came to terms with the emptiness inside, and for the very first time in his life admitted that he was a sinner in need of salvation. God WONDERFULLY rewarded his humble confession and made him "a new creature in Christ." His book goes on to challenge his readers to examine their OWN lives to see if THEY are truly redeemed. For as Mark rightly observes in his book, there will be MANY on the final day who say to Jesus Christ, "Didn't we cast out demons, preach, and do mighty miracles in Your name?", yet Jesus will say, "Depart from Me, I never knew you." It is not enough to have prayed a prayer to receive Christ. You must TRULY be "born again," or "born of the Spirit" to know you are right with God.

The best book on the "ART" of handicapping written to date.
Mark Cramer has written the most thought provoking tome I've read. There are many excellent books on the "SCIENCE" of handicapping. But this book brings home the the reality that races are won by flesh and blood animals prepared by mortals (trainers) who are fraught with their own strengths and weaknessses.Anyone who extrapolates figures from services or computer programs water down the past performance to a number. Predicting the future(handicapping the "ART"), is far more involved in "cycles". This book is a must read for all serious handicappers

Three beautiful first class romance stories
This is a wonderful accumulation of three top quality romances. The Ring of Fear is a story about a nice girl who fell on hard times and is traveling the horse show circuit when she meets a wonderful fellow. They then begin a series of adventures including some encounters with a dubious character from a dark period in her past. The Mark of Merlin is another wonderful story. A young woman is orphaned and her legal guardian is one of her father's war comrades. The soldier is expecting a small child but recieves a young woman just under twenty one. A nice, beautiful woman almost twenty one. The Kilternan Legacy is a wonderful romance set in modern Ireland where a young American divorcee woman comes to deal with an inheritance. She soon discovers a lot about herself, her distant relations, and a couple of very handsome men

Excellent narration about real events
Interesting depiction of Darwin, Cap. Fitzroy and the indian Jemmy Button.

It is possible to find a lot of things in this history: abnegation and faith, adventure and hope, but also emotions and sadness... over all: reality!
