For the technically enlightened "The Internet Edge" is a really well written survey of the topic. For the layman, it's a slog but worth the effort. For a fresh look at what it all means through the the lens of a more user-friendly media, try reading Jerry Furland's outstanding novel "Transfer-the end of the beginning".

Individual chapters accessibly address the basics of getting an Internet Service Provider, do's and don'ts on the net, using a credit card online, online leisure activities and much more. This textbook consists of ten chapters dealing with interventional radiology procedures, and although it is heavily weighted to cardiovascular procedures, significant attention is also directed to the nonvascular interventional procedures. Chapter one is an introduction to catheterization techniques and includes some very basic principles. Chapter two is a detailed analysis of the techniques and materials presently being used for embolization. Chapter three is a comprehensive review of the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal bleeding by interventional procedures. Chapter four is a detailed analysis of the clinical application of embolization in the thorax, abdominal organs, and the central nervous system. Chapter five is dedicated to Interventional radiology in the biliary tract. Chapter six is a technical review of angioplasty procedures and the clinical applications for angioplasty. Chapter seven is a review of percutaneous methods for retrieval of foreing bodies in the circulatory system. Chapter eight discusses in detail the applications of interventional radiology in the urinary tract including percutaneous lithotripsy. Chapter nine details pulmonary thromboembolic disease as well as the inferior vena cava filter application. Chapter ten evaluates the percutaneous methods in the treatment of abscesses. This is a book with enphasis on what is the problem, what are the solutions and how to do it, giving the less experienced interventionalist a road map to follow for most of the procedures.

Once you've read this book, while listening to the included soundtrack, you'll say the same thing "I WANT TO BE NICK MASON"!!! He owns and drives the cars in the book. Courses in harmonic analysis have a central place in the course offerings of every math department, be it pure or applied;-- and the subject is as important as ever! Yet it has not always been easy for an instructor to find a book that is right for the students. Some books might be too skimpy on proofs, or not deep enough.-- Or the applications may somehow be artificial, or contrived. Afterall, we teach the material to engineers!-- It is a relief to find, in Pinsky's lovely new book, a balanced approach to the subject. The motivation and the history receive a beautiful presentation, as do the technical points and proofs. And the historical comments- sprinkled throughout the book- bring the subject to life. At the same time, the book is forward looking, and it has been tested in courses. Great exercises! The structure of the exposition is friendly, and gently leads the reader toward the exciting new wavelet material in the last hundred or so pages of the book. The student thereby gets a sense of how the central questions in wavelet theory have their root in the more classical ideas of harmonic analysis.

Excellent primer on the subject of Marian Doctrine and Devotion. Takes each of the centrally held Church teachings on Mary and gives supporting references from Scripture, Papal Encyclicals, Sayings of the Early Church Fathers, and other Magisterial documents. Puts all the Marian dogmas in perspective. Easy to read. Explains commonly misunderstood notions of what Marian Devotion is. One section answers the most common and prevalent objections to what the Church teaches about Mary from non-Catholics. Concise yet comprehensive.

Sutton's book is an excellent resource for both researchers and students of Native North America. Its coverage is complete, and the geographical regions delineated match those used in the Smithsonian's Handbook of North American Indians, making this volume an excellent text. The cross referencing with the Smithsonian's multivolume resource adds a great deal of utility for the use of Sutton's book as a classroom textbook or starting point for research. Sutton's treatment of Native American culture and history is excellent, not excluding contemporary Native American issues and the roots of modern problems. The study of the past may bring us closer to finding solutions to the problems we face today in intercultural relations. I highly reccommend this book to both instructors and researchers who deal with Native American issues, culture, and history.

This third edition, from a new publisher, has a number of attractive new features: More worked examples, more than 200 in all, more exercises with answers, more on modern developments such as asymptotic methods, correction of typographical errors,--- and loving care from the editors at Waveland Press. The result is a much nicer appearance, and high quality pedagogical improvements.-- I have taught from an earlier edition of this very nice book. Both the students and I have been happy with it. It is an important and useful topic in math [both pure and applied] , and it is especially relevant and central to the service courses offered by most math departments. Sample of topics: The Green function method, the equations of heat, and of waves, and the PDEs of Laplace and Poisson. Orthogonal functions and Fourier methods. The method of stationary phase, and the classical Sturm Liouvile problems.-- Pinsky's book is the best text for teaching these classical tools. A nice feature of the new edition is an added section on the use of Mathematica in the study of PDEs. When students need to look up one of the classical formulas in the theory of boundary value problems, I often refer to Pinsky's book which has always been on target.
