Lush and Colorful!
I've been buying this calendar for several years now and it's the perfect floral calendar for my taste. The arrangements fill the page with beautiful color. I especially enjoy that most of the flowers are the types that have lots of layers of petals to make them look extra lush and rich.

LOVE this Calendar
I buy this calendar every year for both myself and my mom. I love having the feel of "fresh" flowers in my house every day. This calendar has absolutely exquiste bouquets of flowers unlike most of the other flower calendars out there!!

Buy this now! You won't be disappointed!

Flower Power
I love these calendars. I've been collecting them for about ten years now, and I have trouble bringing myself to throw them away! I hit upon a solution a couple of years ago, and covered a bare expanse of wall in our newly-decorated home with a collection of prints. Anyone passing never fails to comment with delight.

These calendars are also an excellent resource for the family. The squares for the days are big enough to accommodate all family reminders. I also appreciate knowing the national and religious holidays of other countries (UK, US, Canada). This is very handy for me as I live in England and many of my family and friends live in the US.

Bouquets is like an old friend, always coming around at the same time to herald the beginning of a new year. Enjoy!

When is the sequel coming out?
It was difficult to put this book down. Some authors can write so that you feel like you are a part of the story. Mark Vertreese is definitely one of those authors. As the events unfold, you can hear the whizzing of the bullets and the screeching of tires. You can breath in the aroma of Paul Brown's childhood country kitchen. This book puts recent events in world politics into perspective. It is a great read for political scientists and conspiracy theorists alike. It is also refreshing to find a story with positive role models. I look forward to Mark Vertreese's next novel, and encourage readers who enjoy works by the likes of Tom Clancy to read this book!

Very Thought Provoking!
In the past, I have only read a couple "political thrillers" and none have kept me interested and page-turning like this one did! I was hooked by the end of the first chapter and HAD to keep reading to find out what happens to everyone! All the characters are so well defined and realistic that you can truly believe what you're reading could happen! Makes you wonder...
Definitely read it! This author is on his way to becoming one of the best!

Spellbinding Read!
This is a good story that reads quickly. It has an ending that is uplifting. Paul Brown is a believable character that has us cheering for him all the way. This could have been a 600 to 700 page book and I would have read it to the last page. The author writes a suspense filled story that keeps you on the edge of your feet at the end of each chapter. The last 10 chapters seemed to fly by. This book was a real pleasure!

Looks like it's unanimous, so far.
Having decided how I would review this cookbook, I then read the other three reviews already here. Amazing that we all came away with the same impression: marvelous stuff here, not easy but delicious. I first tried the Fall Squash Soup with Chorizo and Spicy Cinammon Croutons, and it was a knockout dish. Everyone just marveled at its layers of flavor, so well blended. This is truly a beautiful book, and the regulars at her restaurant for lunch are blessed.

Not quick, but delicious!!!!!
Thanks to this simple cookbook, my reputation in the kitchen has improved by leaps and bounds. The recipes are time consuming (for a simple sandwich) but wait until you taste them! If I want to knock someones socks off I prepare the Shrimp Sandwich with Mango Relish! The name cannot impart how delicious this dish is! This recipe alone justifies the cost of the book. (I have substituted chicken w/ equally good results.) Buy this cookbook. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent flavors, inspiring recipes, simplicity with style
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It contains recipes which soothe the soul (soups) and satisfies the palate. The recipes are easy to follow and don't require hours in the kitchen.

Before Never Mind Nirvana
I bought this book because I loved NEVER MIND NIRVANA, the author's latest novel. This is not as good as NEVER MIND NIRVANA and it's much slower and longer, but it kept my attention because it's a lot like NEVER MIND NIRVANA in its postmodern approach and all the music and the great dialogue and characters. I think this book is slower becasue it follows several characters, instead of just one, but some people may prefer that. The women characters are surprisingly real, and I totally related to one. And I should mention that there's one character who is just like Pete Tyler from NEVER MIND NIRVANA. If you're a fan of this author you will like this book.

Be there...
I recommend reading this book with a bottle of your favorite poison in one sitting. It moves fast and it takes you along for the ride. Appealing and intriguing characters and a great story.

Best Hollywood Book Ever But
This is what happens when smart literary writers take on trashy popular subjects - even if it's one of the best Hollywood books ever, I'm not sure how much that is saying. I enjoyed it a lot though. The writing is both hip and traditional.

A Canadian in America
This book is a bit of home that is comforting in times of homesickness. Yet is still manages to emphasize the diversity of a great nation without seeming over patriotic. I good read for all Canadians whether at home or abroad. Also a good bit of insight for Americans to read to better understand their quitely proud neighbours to the north.

To Everyone who loves Canada....
As the Canadian Co-author of Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul, I am so honoured to have been part of creating - of bringing to life - this very special book. Our vision was to put together a collection of stories that all Canadians would be moved and inspired by. In the process, we read over 6000 stories from Canadians from one coast to the other, and then we talked to some of our greatest Canadian heroes. The result - History, Heritage Heroes and Heart! The Heart is courtesy of Chicken Soup for the Soul, but the history, heroes and heritage are all ours, they are all Canadian. Read The True Story of Lake Ontario by Marilyn Bell Di Lascio, In 1954, at the age of 16, Marilyn was the first person in history to swim across Lake Ontario. This story is in her own words, from her own heart. Like The Goal of the Century from Paul Henderson, Becoming the Man in Motion from Rick Hansen, and The Magic Skates from Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini, these stories are not journalistic renderings, but rather a passionate reliving of the story by the person it happened to. And for the first time in this short story format, you can read The Legacy of Terry Fox by Leslie Scrivener of the Toronto Star. Other contributors include Kurt Browning, Jann Arden, Natalie MacMaster, Chief Dan George, and Pamela Wallin, as well as some wonderful historical and heritage stories, told by authors from all across Canada,in the compelling and heartfelt Chicken Soup style. Buy this book for yourself, or for someone you love. Give it to your kids, your parents, or you best friend. This book is for anyone who loves Canada - no matter where they live!

To all Americans
We live literally across the street from each other - Canadians and Americans. But Americans don't really know us. This book shows our big hearts, humor, valiant spirit, courage and creativity. Every American should read this book and learn just a little bit more about the people who use strange words like "eh" and "toque"! Come on up and visit - or better yet, read this book. The folks who were stranded in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11 will tell you that every word is the truth.

Gripping, rending, and custom made for James Cameron to fashion into a terrifying major motion picture.

The best horor book I'v ever read!
Sure it may be slow at the begining, but fight through the first few chapters of the book and you will be in for the ride of your life. I highly recomend that you read this book. If you like King novels this will beat them all hands down.

An awesome book by and awesome writer!
He completely unseats King! I can't believe it is out of print!!!! This is a tragedy!!! Borrow it from the library NOW!

I would give it 5 stars, if it just has more photos....
The book is great except for one thing. There are not nearly enough, or any, photo's of the inside cabin. I would certainly like see what a 747 looks like on the inside with various views of all 3 levels of the giant. Unfortunatly, the book only shows you one 1969 photo near the front of the book. That of the first
class area. Otherwise, a great book.
David Todd

A Concise Tribute to Her Majesty, the Queen of the Skies
As with their other collaborative efforts, Norris and Wagner present us with a wealth of quality photographs on the best-known airliner. More than that, the authors take us on a journey of how the 747 came to be and where it is today. Each series and variant is surveyed; the information is concise and accurate. While this book may not be the visual feast laid out before us in the Airliner Color History series, this book is highly engaging and well worthwhile to any airliner aficianado.

Fun and factual
Not so informative to bore an aircraft enthusiast, yet provides enough to ponder an aircraft engineer. This contours enough history and facts about the mighty 747 that it's worth reading twice. Ive used this book for foot noting a few aviation college classes. If you like airplanes like I do, you'll enjoy this book.

inspiring and uplifting stories
I love this series of uplifting stories, which encourage us to transcend our narrow vision and touch our common humanity and inner resilience. I would also strongly recommend Emerson Lee's Time-Honored Wisdoms On Wealth creation, which contains many illuminating stories which will encourage and uplift us to discover and unleash our immense inner potential.

..Soup for the Soul
Another great book in the popular Chicken Soup series.
Heartwarming.
I am going to use this book in my grief class along with Healing Stories of Grief and Faith and Write from Your Heart.

Attempting to heal my heart!!
I recently lost my beloved father following a lengthy illness and numerous hospitalizations. His death, though expected, was very devastating---and has bruised my heart. I bought "Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul" last week, and read several of the stories daily. Each and every one has given my heart a boost!! Reading the sincere stories of others' losses and how each is dealing with their own grief is helping me through my own grieving process. A wonderful source of inspiration and healing!!

Wonderful
I am an amateur photographer. 90% of good photography is in finding the right subject. These photos are stirring.

HAUNTING IMAGES OF INNOCENTS AND INNOCENCE DESTROYED
This is a powerful book. In its pages we find starkly beautiful black and white photographs of children laughing, crying, playing, studying, working, in the course of their daily life... unaware of the horrific nightmare that will overtake them soon and destroy their world.

The children's eyes look at you with all the innocent curiousity and wonder of eternal, universal childhood. You look again and apprehension grips you: in a few short years after being photographed, the future of many of these children will be brutally terminated in an unmarked mass grave or a crematorium. The poignancy of this harsh reality is driven home when you read editor Mara Vishniac Kohn's dramatic description of her father's desperate, futile efforts to use his photographs as a means of arousing the conscience of the world and inspiring action to save these children and their families. We learn that Roman Vishniac sent these photos to the White House, only to recieve a perfunctory note thanking him for "the excellent pictures you sent the President."

I must express my heartfelt compliments and appreciation to the editors, Mara Vishniac Kohn and Miriam Hartman Flacks, for the way in which they have presented these precious images-- accompanying them with the lyrics of appropriate Yiddish children's songs, in the original Yiddish and English transliteration and translation, rather than the standard dry caption text. I am especially grateful to the editors for including the music and annotation for these wonderful songs.

This book belongs in every home and library.

A book that will touch your heart
This book moved me a great deal. The black and white images convey such innocence in the children. The simplicity of the beautifully produced photographs juxtaposed with children's songs and rhymes (in Hebrew, Yiddish, and English) gives the impression of viewing the images in a gallery. The photographs, the narrative, and the publication itself are of very fine quality. And the message is unforgettable.

The CIA and the cult of intelligence

Unmasking the CIA?
If you believe that the authors were actually permitted to reveal the secrets contained in this book, it is monumental.

But knowing "The Company", it is more likely that this work is some sort of 'controlled' leak, softening the blow for the revelations of the inevitable congressional investigations that followed in the aftermath of the Watergate fiasco, the death of J. Edgar Hoover, and the continuing insinuations implicating the CIA of complicity in everything from the murder of JFK, to secret, malevolent control over the war in SE Asia.

Irrespective of ones' take on the voracity of the means of disclosure (whether legitimate whistle-blowing, or CIA damage control) this heavily-censored/redacted book ostensibly blew the lid off at CIA, with at least superficial examination of the structure, operations, methods, and mind-set of the U.S. intelligence apparatus. In the main, time has tended to validate this contents of this expose'.

Out of print and hard to find, this book nonetheless remains must-reading for anyone interested in intelligence, the Cold War, Vietnam, and the defense of the Free World up to the early 1970s. Buy it.

No Better View of the Clandestine Mentality Exists
This is one of perhaps ten books from prior to 1985 that I decided to include because of their continuing value. I believe that both history and historians will credit these two individuals with having made a difference by articulating so ably both the clandestine mentality and the problems extant in the lack of oversight regarding proprietary organizations, propaganda and disinformation, and intrusive not-so-clandestine operations.
