O.K. for propeller planes , improvable on the comercial jets
Think of this as a very good book, that really covers all the issues about not only Ms Flight Simulator, but also its application on real world aviation. It is not focused on teaching how to deal with all the commands and menus of flight simulator: it assumes that you know all of this (it has an excellent keyboard cover tough), and focus on teaching you how is real-world flight, and how to bring it inside the game, making you a trully virtual pilot.

However, this book is very focused on the Cessna 182 (It makes me believe I can pilot a real one now :)), and fails somehow on the comercial jets, specially in terms of the landing process. In terms of teaching IFR flying, again it is excellent for propeller planes, but it disapointed me on the comercial planes.

But still it is a very good book, and I would surelly buy it again.

This is good softwares fot pilots.
I am French, but I can do the reading in the English good. I like these simulator books good. When I am home, in Provence, where I am most of the days, or in the palazzo in Capri, I lilke to use my computer for the simulating of the flying. It is true that this book is calling itself for any planes, but the Cessna is flying here mostly. It is still good for simulating the flights, though. And maybe you would be wanting to fly a Cessna good someday. I would be happy to see a simulator game for Learjet and Mooney, because that is mostly the planes that I fly. Also, my sister should be learning, and the Cessna is good. My sister, does not know that I think she sshould be flying, but when you have a business for flying, one pilot is not always so good. She could soon be calling herself a pilot, too..................... ....................Presented by Summer!

This guide comes with a huge bonus !
While I really did appreciate the very valuable and well organized information offered by the book, I was very nicely surprised to see that the book came with a Keyboard Cover. This tool is pretty amazing in the sense that, besides being very attractive, it simply eliminates the task of remembering the huge number of key shortcuts ! Brilliant addition to the book which deserves 3 1/2 stars on its own.....but together, this combination deserves 5 stars.

I just don't understand why Amazon doesn't mention the inclusion of the Keyboard Cover ? It would have made my decision process much easier.

Ali through the blind eyes of the world
Following the recent release of Hollywood's horrible 'ALI' movie, we have yet another book attempting to ride the Ali bandwagon. The best thing about this book is that it contains a lot of cool photographs that I hadn't seen before. Very little of the text is new or insightful, though. With few exceptions, these people just retrace the same old tired topics. Ali refused to go to Vietnam, Ali won the heavyweight title, Ali is funny, Ali is kind, etc... True, but how many different times do I need to hear somebody say this? Of all the people chosen to comment in this book, few of them have anything unique to say about the man. In addition, a lot of these people don't really seem to know fact from legend. For example, several references are made to the story about Ali throwing his Olympic medal into the river. This is complete fiction, dreamed up for the '70's book and movie, "The Greatest". In reality, he just lost the medal somewhere. There are a few good entries here, such as the ones by referee Arthur Mercante, Bert Sugar, Angelo Dundee, daughter Hana, ex-wife Veronica, and several people who fought against or helped train Muhammad. These cover less than 1/2 the book, though. Instead of getting some redneck comedian who's never even met the man, why not get Joe Frazier or Ken Norton or George Foreman or Ali's current wife Lonnie or his best friend Howard Bingham to comment? How about his brother, Rahman? Leon Spinks, even. The editing is atrocious, at least in the hardcover edition. If you really want to read something about Ali that's well written and well researched, I would suggest the great books 'Muhammad Ali, His Life and Times' by Thomas Hauser and 'King of the World' by David Remnick.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT THIS MAN
"Muhammad Ali: Through the Eyes of the World" is a fine documentation, which tells the story of a fine man. It was a good effort by Lennox Lewis, (a heavyweight champion), and Mark Collings; although that I didn't come across any new event or issue regarding the life of this greatest champion that sports has ever known. However, since most books that bear Ali's perspectives are hard to find in continental Europe, I was more than glad to lay my hands on this one.
I have either heard or read every story that I found on the pages of this book, yet, the refreshment it offered was great. I had a satisfactory pastime with it; and I guess that you'll cherish it too.
No matter how much you know about The Greatest, this book will certainly knit-up your weekend. The chapters are well-arranged, and the overall documentation is cute.

The Worlds Greatest
Muhammed Ali: Through the Eyes of the World by Mark Collings and Lennox Lewis helped me tremendously to understand the life of Muhammed Ali. This book kept me interested throughout. What was unique about this book that kept me wondering what was behind the next page was that it was told from many people's eyes, not the authors'. From his opponents to his four wives, you got the story from everyone. When someone's story started to get old, here it was, a new story. The different commentaries give you his whole life story. You hear about the way he fought, how he loved kids, his love for entertaining, his generosity, you hear it all. After reading the book I had the feeling that I knew Ali as a person. I give this book five stars. If I could, I would give it more.

Knock on wood
While Ingebretsen's history of the early OTC and NASDAQ are detailed and interesting, I found his style both wooden and lumbering. He is hoplessly sqaure. Further, his analysis of the preY2K NASDAQ provides no insight. Witness....

"Investing in Internet stocks was often like playing Russian Roulette."

His analysis into the post Y2K NASDAQ is even less insightful. He has the ring of that smug kid who constantly shouted on the playground, "I told you so."

Still, considering the lack of serious and even semi-serious work on the subject, I think his effort is noteworthy. Hopfully something with a little more spice will come down the pipe.

Complicated topic made fascinatingly readable
Ingebretsen has that rare ability among writers-the ability to decipher a complicated subject and present it in an entertaining, readable way. Should be required reading for all B-school students, as well as for anyone who wants to know how the markets work and how their trades are executed. I learned a ton reading this.

Excellent
I thought this was an excellent book. On one level it's a well-written, and fascinating, history of Nasdaq. But beyond that it's a detailed study of the history of stock trading. If you want to know what actually happens when you give an order to your broker to buy 100 shares in Microsoft, or how all these new ECNs work, read this book.

A grand introduction to a daunting field
As an emerging discipline, Microarray analysis is somewhat overwhelming and this book provides an excellent overview and introduction. While it does not give the reader the ability to perform high level data analysis, it certainly provides the criteria which would be necessary to design one. I personally rather enjoyed the casual and light hearted editaorial handling of what could have been a very dry text. I am an engineer, interested in the techniques of Microarray analysis more than the actual execution, but even I found the book extremely valuable. An excellent introductory and intermediate text. Readable by and valuable to almost anyone with a basic background in and understanfding of the life sciences. Extraordinary and a great addition to any library!

Excellent Foundational Text on Microarray Technology
The Microarray Analysis book by Dr. Mark Schena does an excellent job of taking the reader thru the multiple technologies and science disciplines required to understand and use the power of the microarray. It's interdisciplinary and broad approach allows complete understanding of the field without wasting time on aspects of the field which are sill evolving. It's elegantly written. Chapter 13, which talks about the use of microarrays in genetic screening, testing and diagnostics, is one of Schena's greatest accomplishments, in a historic and socio-economic sense. This contribution alone, makes the book a must read to prepare for the microarray revolution in medicine, agriculture, ecology and bio-threat detection. Strongly recommended reading for anyone seriously interested in Microarrays, be they students, professors expanding their horizons or CEO's hoping to mine microarrays. Hats off to Dr. Mark Schena!

An Excellent Text
"...an excellent text...a valuable reference...If you need to know what microarrays are, how they can be used, how they work, and how you can analyze the data...then this book will provide the insight." (Clinical Chemistry, Vol. 49, No. 6, 2003)

Not a "How To" book
Falls short if you are looking for a step by step guide on how to implement a Home Network. Very little discussion about statis IP connections, using routers or printservers.

Primarily includes descriptions of various technologies as well as advantages and disavantages.

Troubleshooting section consists of recommendations to contact someone who knows networking and references to websites to go to for assistance.

very book book, but "networking by example" was better
I looked through this and about 5-10 other books on home networking at a bookstore. This book was my second choice, but I ultimately went for "Networking by Example" by Barry Press (which was especially helpful for people making networks with Linux and Windows in the same network).

The Henricks book was easy to follow, clearly explained, and had fairly good diagrams. But once again, I thought the Networking by Example was better.

Great read: simple, yet informative
Mastering Home Networking, by Mark Henricks, is an informative and entertaining way to learn about how you can network your computers together. I must admit that I am not a big fan of technology books. But this one is a bit different. The author does not treat the reader like an idiot. But at the same time, the author does not treat the reader like a technological genius. The subject matter is treated in a way that both a beginner and a expert can enjoy. If you want to learn how to network your computers together, to enhance your business, make home life simpler, or just for entertainment, this is a great book that will take you through the necessary steps.

old info
This book is completely oudated and every lead that I thought I could use was completely useless. Apparently there is a new edition but it appears that this older edition has been outdated for years. Don't buy this book.

Good Things on Every Page
While I was still living in New York I used this book extensivly. That was about a year ago. Let me tell ya me and my friends had a great time using this book. We found great bargains and places to hang out. If I were in New York still I would by the new book edition. Not because this one is out dated but because I want more.

Read it...it works!
For Christmas, last year, we gave our youngest son, Kerry a trip to NYC. He has ask to go for years. This is one of the books that we got, to allow Kerry to map out his trip. We had a limited amount of money and he got to choose how we spent it.

We used Mr. Cheaps advice on hotels and found ourselves at this wonderful hotel, in the heart of midtown Manhattan. Our room was huge, by NYC standards, complete with a marble bath. So what if the complementary newspaper was in Italian. The Jolley is a chain owned by Italians. Kerry was mighty impressed. The location allowed us to use the subway, or walk saving us even more money.

These books are well written. This guy knows his towns. Lots of stuff that only locals usually know. Gave me enough savy to have a great time in NYC.

Kerry and I had four great days in NYC. In no small part thanks to Mr. Cheap!

THIS BOOK IS A VERY GENERAL START FOR YOUR PROJECTS
THE BOOK WAS PRETTY GOOD HOWEVER, I FEEL IT LACKED A LOT MORE INFORMATION FOR THE PROJECTS IT DISCUSSED. FOR EXAMPLE IT TALKED ABOUT THROTLE BODY REPLACEMENT BUT DID NOT MENTION HOW A 70MM T.B.WOULD BE BETTER THAN A 65MM T.B. OTHER THAN IT'S SIZE OBVIOUSLY. WHAT ABOUT GAS MILAGE WHAT COULD YOU EXPECT? WHICH IS SUITABLE FOR EVERYDAY DRIVING? THE BOOK NEVER MENTIONED ANY OF THAT. ANOTHER PROJECT WAS AIR CLEANERS IT DID NOT DISCUSS THE DIFFERENT TYPES THAT ARE OFFERED AND WHAT THE ADVANTAGES ARE COMPARED TO THE OTHER. ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR HOP UPS ARE COMPUTER CHIPS, THE BOOK DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT. OH, BUT IT TALKED ABOUT NITROUS AND BLOWERS THOUGH?????? I PERSONALLY DID NOT LIKE THE BOOK. IT LACKED LOTS OF INFORMATION THAT YOU WOULD NEED IN ORDER FOR YOU TO DECIDE WHETHER YOU WOULD WANT TO TAKE ON A PROJECT TO BEGIN WITH.

Good time saver
I found this book the best of the three I bought from Amazon. It saved me time on the first upgrade I was doing on my 91 LX, which paid for the book right then and there. It gives some helpful details like which size wrench you'll need at each step.

Chapter 2 alone saved me [a lot of money]
Before buying this book, I was shopping for an '85 carb'd GT to play with. Afraid of electronic fuel injection (EFI) I figured the last carb'd stang would be the perfect place to start my new hobby--performance racing and its associated mechanics / maintenance. However, the chapter describing the differences in all 5.0 engines immediately highlighted the high-performance drawbacks of several model years, including the 85 to my surprise. Before reading this chapter, I was just about to place [a lot of money] on the table for an 85 GT, but now I know better and my money will be going towards a better baseline performance platform--a model year range specifically recommended by this book. Any book that immediately saves me this much time, money, and effort rates 5 stars. A MUST buy for beginner Mustang 5.0 performance enthusiasts!

Horrible piece of Garbage
This is one of the worst pieces of writing I have ever come across. At times I felt that the writer must have been some rednecked, uneducated, and illiterate human that only knew how to compose a sentence with likes of a single verb and single subject. I thoroughly discourage anyone even picking up this book, and I would rather sit through a screening of Battlefied Earth than subject myself to Mark Choate's nonsensical rambling.

An excellent piece
Mark Choate is an extrememly educated author, as one can tell from his writing. This is an excellent book displaying historical significance of World War Two. This book should return to print, as it meets a special need. Commendable work, Mark Choate.

a great mind is at work
mark choate is one of the best historical authors i have encountered. all of his critics should sit through at least one of his classes-- very thought provoking. anyone interested in WWII should read this book right away. it was very compeling throughout.

This is mostly a campaign book
If you play campaigns and need help, this is the book for you. Over 2/3's of the book is devoted to walking you through the campaigns. If however, if campaigns are a thing of the past for you and you are trying to refine your skills to play against other people... this book is of little help. There are a couple of pages detailing the newest civs to TC, not much more info is offered than what comes with the aoe documentation. There are a few strategies that are described that are pretty basic and are useful if you've never or hardly played before. There is a section that supposedly has tips from the actual ES testers (3 I think)...pretty weak because everyone's preferences are always debatable. Anyway, they pretty much just give their opinions on what civ, what unit and combinations they like best. (To kill your curiosity, most chose Mayans for the archer/eagle scout combo.) Adding links in the book to aoe websites is a waste of space. You're better off going to Google and typing in 'AOK TC' and getting hundreds of links to sites that people actually use. So... since I don't really play campaigns anymore and I am a person trying to find resources to get better playing against other people, I found this book a waste of money. I only gave it an extra star because it details the campaigns pretty good.

Solid, but Limited
This is a great book IF you are already aware of all the existing strengths and weaknesses of the civilizations that are not new to the Conquerors Edition. In other words, you better have the previous book if you want complete knowledge of all the civilizations.

That having been said, the depth of the analysis for each of the new civilizations is impressive. It tells you everything you need to do to use a civilization's strengths to their best advantage.

There is very little general training here, and so is not the right book for 'beginners'. I makes a fine addition to the knowledge base of an already experienced user who needs depth on what's NEW in this edition.

Age Of Empires II: The Conqueror's Is Awesome!
Age Of Empires expansion The Conquerors is the best. I thought the first was the best game of the year but now i have seen it all. It has alot more groups you can pick, the farmers are smarter. bigger and better buildings. More mind blowing scenes and graphics. If your looking for a good PC game buy this one.

not impressed and not disappointed
I am a major fan of Twain and have always held him in the highest esteem. His "The Mysterious Stranger" got me through some tough times in college with the help of other books such as "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" IS the Great American Novel. There is little left of his that I haven't read and just when you think you've read all his best stuff, another short story comes out of nowhere and totally amazes you with his insight. This is not one of those stories. However, it's not bad and it's a nice enough way to spend an hour or so. Bear in mind that the Preface and Afterword are together longer than the story itself. There is some nice information about Twain and the the times in which this story was written but it isn't essential that you read them. Twain had an idea of taking a basic, simple plot and having 20 or so other authors of his era write their version of the story. (OK, I DID get that much out of the Preface and Afterword). His motion, however, died for lack of a second and we are left with this; his briefly written entry. It reminded me a lot of his style in "The Gilded Age". That book was too long and this book is too short but the story has an interesting twist to it. The moment I saw this book on the shelves I bought it and I have no regrets. If you're a fan of Twain's, you should buy it too. After all, if you act quickly, you too can have a first edition of Mark Twain.

The story itself and the few pictures are great
Twain's story is great and, as would be expected, artfully and very well written. The drawings by Peter de Seve and the pictures of Twain's handwritten manuscript are wonderful. The problem is that as you read Twain's story you hope that it continues, but then you suddenly realize that you've reached the afterword, which fills up more than half of the entire book. I know nothing about serious literary analysis, but I do know that it is frustrating to go from a thoroughly enjoyable read to a cumbersome and awkward afterword that is literally longer than the work itself. Maybe stuffy intellectuals will find Blount's writing satisfying, but for the average reader, a route canal would be preferable. Twain's story and the pictures get 3 out of 3 stars, and that's it--minus 2 because of the rest. A work can still be placed in its proper historical context without being overly wordy and frankly boring. It should be called A Foreword and Afterword by Roy Blount Jr. with (by the way) a story by Mark Twain. Pick up the book and look at the pictures, then read the story as it was published in The Atlantic over the summer.

LOL! My first Mark Twain book...
This is my first Mark Twain book, and I got to say that I like it. For a short story, it's excellent and I usually don't like short stories.

This story tells exactly what the title is: a murder, a mystery, and a marriage. They all are excellently incorporated into each other and all has a purpose.

Also, the contributions from Roy Blount, Jr. and Peter de Sève are wonderful. The foreword and afterwords were informative about the book and the illustrations are beautifully, yet - in a way - comical. And the fact that this book is now first time published as one should cause a celebration.

Excellent book.
