This book will motivate, inspire and engage your imagination
This book on "Magicneering" is so fantastic! I love the antidotes and the great suggestions. I thoroughly enjoyed it! In fact, as I was reading it, new ideas and creativity began to flow from within. I truly felt inspired and motivated to do more, be more and live more!

It goes to show that what one truly believes and conceives, one will achieve!!!! I've applied its principles, and as a result, my life is much fuller and funner! Magicneering is the tool to get us not only what we want, but what we deserve as human beings!

The contents in this book are truly powerful, and it feels good to let my "inner child" thrive, not only for the moment, but from now on. I recommend this book for people of all ages.

Sharing the Magic!
Magicneering, Living, Laughing, & Loving Life is very touching for me, and my young daughter, as I am sure it is for people all over the world. We read it together everyday, and share the Magic poetry, and Magical Living ideas with one another. The Magic Poem, "I'm Still listening," about Mark Magic Eberra's mother is very touching. My own mother passed away before my daughter was born, and she wishes she was here. So this Magic Poem meant a lot to her, and I could see her attitude change when she read it out loud. I now share the Magic with others and recommend the book Magicneering, Living, Laughing, & Loving Life to anyone who would like more peace, love, and happiness in their life.

A fun art-couse in a book! wonderful!
This book isnt typical...and a bit hard to describe :) It teaches things that most dont, particulary about perspective which is lacking in most if not all childrens book. The artist, Mark Kistler, does vidoes about drawing that i have only seen in my son;s school and his sense of humor comes thru in the videos and the books. This book teaches basics in a TOTALLY fun way that enables children to imagine ways to come up with pictures of their own...as opposed to most childrens books that mostly only teach one way to do a drawing. This book releases creativity rather than narrows it. I think it is a book for kids with some drawing experience only becuase the book is large and as opposed to other books there is a fair amount of text...which might turn kids off... i thought my son wouldnt like it...but to my surprize its his favorite book...he goes thru it front to back..building skills.... and i see in the things he draws when he doesnt have the book in front of him...that this book has had a positive effect on his ability to imagine perspective, shading...and just his imagination. great book

Great art program for teachers, children and adults!
As a fourth-grade teacher who was never very good at art, I always found teaching art to be very difficult. Elementary school teachers aren't provided with any real curriculum, and the majority of ideas out there in books and teachers' magazines are simplistic cut-and-paste busy work that don't really teach any art concepts. Then I found this book! This is incredible! My whole art program is set up around this book! It teaches art concretely and step-by-step so that the most art challenged students (including myself) are able to learn from it! The kids love it, and its great for teaching mathematical and geometrical concepts like shapes, angles and terms. I couldn't recommend this book for any teacher (or child, or parent) more! You and your children will draw great pictures, even if you are as bad at drawing as I am!

Super Fun
A must have for every child. I have given this book to every child I know. The simple lessons help build self-esteem. Children see immediate improvement in their drawing skills.
I also find it helps lubricate the imagination and creativity. Parents drawing along with their children will be pleasantly surprised at their own results. Fun for everyone.

The Walk-In

FAST PACED AND DISTURBING
The Walk-In never lets up on the tension, it is a bullet of a book that at times I found very disturbing. Mark Halliday seems to have crossed the bounderies of the norm and given the reader a whole new, in your face approach to horror. I highly reccommend this book to readers of the horror genre but be prepared for a unique page turning excursion into a very seedy world. I look forward to seeing more of Mark Halliday on the shelves. He has my vote!

Heart Stopping Horror!
I read The Walk-In on the recommendation of a friend, and I must say it is nothing like I have ever read before. Although I found some scenes to be a little over the top - and grotesque in the extreme...Halliday has a way with words, and a technique that makes it damn near impossible to put the book down. Quite a few times throughout the story I wanted to just walk away and forget about it - but the plot and characters are so real and intense that I couldn't bring myself to stop turning those pages. Yes it is heart stopping horror - and yes - I would recommend his work to anyone that is prepared to be hooked and wound in like a struggling fish on a line. I have also checked out his new website and found that it enhances the overall experience I had of the book. I have no doubt this will not be the last time I read any of Halliday's work.

SCARED ME TO DEATH!!
Although I am a great fan of horror fiction - I was not prepared for "The Walk-In" It left me both gasping, and repulsed - while at the same time unable to put it down. A strange thing occurs to the reader of this book - although you want to get away because certain scenes are very graphic, you find yourself almost mesmerized by the ongoing tension and action. Although this is the first time I have read any of Mr. Halliday's work - I would certainly recommend him to all avid fans of the horror genere. After finishing his book I was left with a feeling that this is the new direction horror - and Mr. Halliday has broken the mould of the norm. I can only hope he continues to enthral, repulse, and excite his readers with his work in the future. What a great writer!!!

Get this book if you want to learn fingerstyle!
This book starts easy with basic Travis patterns and builds gradually to harder stuff (two chords per measure, walking, etc.) And the songs are fun to play and sing, you don't have to endure Mary Had a Little Lamb. It greatly helped my playing skills, and I'm now working on his next book, The Art of Solo Fingerpicking. Buy this book, you won't regret it!

A must for people learning to fingerpick
Usually instructional books are a complete waste of time for me. However, I found that this book is extremely well organized and thought out. You learn basic patterns and how to switch between each of the different possible chord formations. As the book advances, so do the picking patterns. For each chapter, there is a song to learn, so you can apply your newly acquired skills (some songs are dorky, but oh well).

Mark is tops: this book is like taking lessons with him!
I had the privilege of taking weekly lessons for a year and a half with Mark. He brought me to the point of not only easily picking James Taylor, John Denver and CSN tunes but also playing the complex instrumentals of Leo Kotke, William Ackermann and others. All in 1.5 years!!

Mark is a patient, thorough, kind and absolutely top notch teacher. He first started me out on this book (I could only play basic chords before then). How the book is written is as careful and clear as he is in person.

Learning guitar could be very frustrating. Before meeting Mark, I had invested in many guitar books and instructional videos. I now rate them all a C+ compared to this book which is a solid A.

Going through "The Art of Contemporary Travis Picking" is like taking lessons directly with Mark. It's that good.

Comments from the Authors
This book is an attempt to apply the discipline (the science) of software engineering to the art of trading. Further, it is an integration of a trading platform (e.g., TradeStation) with the essence of the most influential technical analysis and trading books. So, we presume that the reader is familiar with the patterns described by Gartley, Dunnigan, and Edwards & Magee; the position sizing models described by Tharp; the trading styles espoused by Crabel, Cooper, and Raschke; and the performance analysis techniques introduced by Stridsman.

The first chapter defines the trading model and the various components: the portfolio, trading systems, position sizing, filters, and trade management. Although the book focuses on automating technical analysis techniques, these systems all work within the same framework introduced in the first chapter.

Chapters 2 through 7 cover a variety of trading systems: pair trading, pattern recognition, float analysis, momentum / range, and volatility. In Chapter 8, we create a "system" system by combining all of the systems into one strategy (a bottoms-up approach) and then compare this approach with a top-down system (a variation of the pattern recognition system) derived from market breadth and sentiment indices such as the put/call ratio, VIX, advancers/decliners, etc.

In Chapter 9, we recount one of our trading days. This was a fun chapter for us because we had no idea how the trades would pan out later in the week. After reading this chapter and our assessment of each chart, judge whether or not you are a better chart reader or system trader (N.B. we are the latter).

Chapter 10 is the day trading chapter (recall Ben Hur on a Roman galley chained to his rowing bench). Yeah, we poke fun at day traders but apply some common-sense technical analysis techniques for intraday trading. Hint: Use the rectangle for intraday trading, especially afternoon breakouts.

Finally, Chapter 11 contains the source code implemented in TradeStation's EasyLanguage: 64 pages of trading systems, indicators, and functions.

Regarding the book itself, many people have asked why we would publish these trading systems. The answer is that the systems are diverse and have an almost infinite number of variations, across time frame and sector. Find your niche and exploit it. As to the rating, we probably could have included more intraday examples and code in Chapter 10. Yes, the book will draw the ire of those who believe that one cannot trade the markets mechanically; however, with the proper software platform, we feel that any market knowledge can be encoded and implemented within a system.

A BLUEPRINT FOR FUTURE PROFESSIONALS
IN MY 10 YEAR QUEST FOR STOCK TRADING SUCCESS,THIS BOOK HAS BEEN MORE HELPFUL TO ME THAN DOZENS OF OTHER BOOKS,COURSES,ETC.
THE TYPICAL AND NATURAL PATH TO TRADING SUCCESS INCLUDES EMOTIONAL & DISCRETIONARY TRADING TO TECHNICAL & INDICATOR FASCINATION TO SEMI-SYSTEM TRADER AND "FINALLY" TO COMPLETE SYSTEM TRADING.
THESE AUTHORS DON'T WASTE ANY TIME WITH THE "LEARNING CURVE" AND GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT OF WHAT'S "REALLY" IMPORTANT...
A COMPLETE , AUTOMATED FRAMEWORK FOR
TRADING STOCKS:A MODEL THAT ENCOMPASSES MONEY MANAGEMENT,POSITION
SIZING,ORDER ENTRY, AND AN ACTUAL SET OF TRADING SYSTEMS WRITTEN IN "EASY LANGUAGE" FOR EASY IMPLEMENTATION IN TRADESTATION 2000I
AND TRADESTATION 6 PLATFORM.
INCLUDED IN THE STRATEGIES WAS MY FAVORITE (PAIRS TRADING) WHICH IS A LOW RISK/HIGH PROBABILITY STRATEGY ,WHICH IS "VERY RARELY" WRITTEN ABOUT,BUT INCLUDED IN THESE HEDGE FUND MANAGERS ARSENAL OF SUCCESSFUL SYSTEMS.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO TRADERS WHO ARE READY FOR THAT NEXT STEP....TO PROFESSIONAL LEVEL TRADING $$$

Bridging the worlds of trading and computers
First of all, I am amazed that the authors have been so generous in sharing this code, pages and pages of TradeStation code for various technical analysis patterns. This is clearly the result of many years of hard work of developing and testing trading systems. My only caution is that this book may not be for beginning traders - the book jumps right into a fairly technical 40-page introduction about their trading model and systems, which are all standardized on volatility, a brilliant stroke. Lots of good trading system ideas outside of the realm of traditional technical analysis...

The CIA exposed--plain and simple
Lane was the first to open up criticism of the Warren Report with his "Rush to Judgment". Almost three decades later, he once again brings President Kennedy's assassination cover-up in full view, and this time he reveals the culprit behind the killing.

After reading this, there was no doubt in my mind that the CIA had masterminded the killing of JFK, and then carried out the cover-up. They lied under oath, pressured the media, encouraged censorship, presented false evidence, threatened and killed witnesses and potential stool pigeons--it's all right here.

While Lane's work is without question some of the best detective work in the 20th century, he was personally involved with much of the cover-up and experienced persecution as a result of his views. Unlike in his "Rush to Judgment", he has a tendancy to take much of this personal, and it shows. Throughout the book, Lane blows his own horn and vehemently attacks Earl Warren, Howard Hunt, and the like. The evidence might speak for itself, but I can see people being put off by Lane's unproffessional attacks.

Perhaps the most chilling conclusion one gets out of "Plausible Denile" and "Rush to Judgment" are not that the CIA conspired to kill a President, but that they conspired to frame and innocent, unsuspecting citizen for the crime.

Riveting, Disturbing and Educational Lawyer's Brief
On the one hand it is truly surprising this book by Mark Lane did not receive greater coverage. On the other hand, given the fact that official Washington has never deviated from its view that President Kennedy was murdered by Lee Harvey Oswald, the dearth of coverage was to be expected.

What makes this book special is that Mark Lane uses federal trial transcripts and deposition testimony to prove his point. That point is: the Central Intellligence Agency was complicit in the murder of President Kennedy.

I was unaware that Mark Lane is an experienced litigator who had criminal trial experience prior to JFK's murder in November 1963. In December 1963 he wrote an article which set forth a lawyer's defense for Lee Harvey Oswald. By that time Oswald was dead, having been murdered in the Dallas jailhouse two days after Kennedy was murdered. Lane pointed out one month after the assassination that a jury most likely would not have found Oswald guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Warren Commission and its 26 volumes went to greath length to show that Oswald was the lone assassin. Mark Lane's 1966 'Rush to Judgment' became the seminal work in disputing the lone assassin finding.

Perhaps 'Plausible Denial', coming almost 30 years after JFK's murder was old news. Whatever the reason this work has been sadly ignored. Mark Lane was defending a publication which had been sued by E. Howard Hunt for defamation. The publication maintained that E. Howard Hunt, veteran CIA operative and convicted Watergate burglar, was in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

Lane's book lays the groundwork to show that Hunt's contention he was in Washington, DC that is unprovable. Instead, Lane uses E. Howard Hunt's contradictory testimony under oath to show that nobody can say he was there.

Instead, Lane brings forth witnesses who cannot say he was in Washington DC and a witness who says she met him in Dallas just prior to Kennedy's murder.

Natually, there is much more to all this than E. Howard Hunt. What Lane shows the reader is that the whole matter of President Kennedy's murder is an issue which will never be truly resolved.

"Due Process" in the Murder of JFK
This seminal book, not the Warren Commission, should be the jumping off point for any discussion of the murder of JFK.
The Warren Commission never extended to the murdered Oswald the right to defend his reputation by cross examining witnesses, calling witnesses and otherwise having his day in court. In a civil libel case, E. Howard Hunt Vs. The Liberty Lobby (1985) former CIA man, (and convicted Watergate felon) E. Howard Hunt had these traditional legal rights. The issue at stake was whether he had been paymaster of the JFK asassination for the CIA in Dalles. This is a book about a real trial. Lane establishes means , motive, and opportunity, demolishes Hunt's allibi, and places him at the scene with credible eyewitness testimony. Most damaging in my mind was the evidence that Hunt and CIA planted faked evidence to falsely implicate JFK in the murder of South Vietnamese President Diem. The Miami jury overturned a $650,000 libel award by a lower court, and opined that criminal prosecution of Hunt and 5 other ex-CIA operatives was called for. The national media ran from this verdict like it was a live bomb. Few Americans realize that it is a legally true statement that "Hunt and CIA murdered JFK". A brave and brilliant book.

It works!
I'm a high school junior and I'm still using this book for all my quizes and tests. While everyone else in my class was struggeling through the first fifteen presidents, I breezed through them all just by remembering the cute cartoons and pictures. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone! It also contains great information about the presidents and their administrations. I used it middle school, I'm using it in high school, and I'm sure it will be useful through out my continuing education.

Within 30 minutes, I knew all the U.S. Presidents by heart
Wonderful, silly book which will teach you the U.S. Presidents, in order, in 30 minutes. The book has a story which incorporates word associations for every president as well as some quizzes to help you memorize them. Also, has a short biography on every president. Great book for all ages.

If you want to impress your friends, this book is for you!
This book is so good! It has great ways to learn every president in order very quickly. I read this book a few years ago, and to this day I can still name all of the presidents. This book is a must for any book collection.

this was one of his best books. when Chas Mcgill and his friends find a German Machine gun along with 200 rounds of live bullets. they wanted their chance of revenge on the Germans, after all it was the second world war. They build a tripod for it and they capture a german pilot but grow very fond of him and let him go back to germany. he doesn't want to. if I say any more I'll spoil it for you. All i need to say is that it is my favourite book

Great Book
I first checked this book out of my local library. I completly loved it at 5 years of age I read it in about 5 days. Now at 11 I must say I have read it 5 times.I suggest if you like suspense and incredible writing you should get this book.

a 1st class childs view on war torn britain.
as previous reviews have mentioned, this is a first rate novel from one of britain top childrens authors, now sadly deceased. It highlights some of Westall's own experiences in war torn tyne and wear - an idea born from his own son (who many of Westall's books are based on - in memorium), when asked by him to stop a leaking roof on the den/base his son and friends had built. Westall states that he felt extremely priveliged to have been invited into their secret world.(hence the den in the book). a very detailed account for those interested in ww2 britain - right down to shrapnel collections found under hedges, to chrysanthemums for christmas. an excellent read, and a book adopted by many schools for english tutoring. This is his best and first book, but try secret lovers, a collection of short stories, and in particular Blind Bill.

Fascinating Analysis of IJN War Making Capability
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It provided a unique introduction to the the organizational behavior and technology influencing the development of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) up to the "The Pacific War".

The authors pursue a four pronged approach, describing how the political history, the Japanese culture, the organizational behavior of the Navy, and the development of the technology "grew" the IJN and to a certain extent led the country into war with the Allies. Techies will appreciate the detail provided on ship classes, including ship diagrams. In particular, I appreciated how clearly the authors managed to show how the perceptions of the IJN's commanders about "how a war WILL be fought" effected the force structure of the IJN.

The book is not without faults. The formatting of the book is in some ways amateurish. The scale of certain ship illustrations could have been chosen more carefully. I also found the comparison charts very difficult to understand, despite clear supporting prose. Finally, The authors could have been more clinical in their analysis of the IJN's errors. The contrasts to the "formidable logistics capability" of the U.S. Navy or the superb U.S. Marine amphibious assault capability were a bit too vivid.

Navalists will value this book for its technical content and its analysis of the decision making that led to the birth, growth, and demise of the IJN. Recommended.

Probably, the definitive book on the topic
In my opinion, this book is a masterpiece. Maybe japanese scholars are able to find some mistaken dates in it, but it is more than perfect for the western historian. The authors explain how Japan was able to build a modern navy from scrap in some few decades including arsenals, academies, tactics and technology. Defects and virtues are carefully described and exposed. War actions are also well explained and their consequences carefully analyzed. This book has been written using exclusively primary sources, anybody interested in the history of the Imperial Japanese Navy will be very satisfied with it.

A seminal work - don't miss it if you're interested.
This is a magnum opus to match S.E. Morrison's 14 volume History of United States Naval Operations in World War II, or Clay Blair's "Silent Victory" and 2-volume Hitler's U-Boat war, or Lundstrom's two "First Team" volumes. Such are volumes that a serious student of the Pacific War does not fail to read. Add this one. "Kaigun" is the perfect complement to Miller's "War Plan Orange." Why? First, Kaigun fills in the internal history of the Imperial Japanese Navy from its inception to the fatal decisions which led to its destruction. Second, it examines the strategic, doctrinal and tactical thought which drove, or was driven by the technological progress of the IJN. And finally, it explodes a number of cherished myths surrounding the IJN, most particularly its very active part in pushing Japan to war. What this volume can't answer and can't be held accountable for is why intelligent men leading the IJN made the incredibly bad decision to go to war, although it clearly illustrates the strategic calculus used to rationalize those decisions. "Kaigun" also shows (with the clarity of hindsight, or course) why Japan never had a chance of winning its war with the United States short of divine intervention. This is a seminal work and absolutely not to be missed. The technical detail may bore and quail the casual reader, but the serious student and the reader wanting the truth of the matter won't be put off. This is the best English language work available on the subject and should be read in conjunction with "War Plan Orange."
