Strange Betpartners in and out of the oval office
The cultural and political landscape may never be the same again. The definitive work of Show Biz and Strange Betpartners in and out of the Oval Office. The book is amazingly prophetic in its look ahead from the Clinton first to the second term, with all the right characters.

This guy's funny as hell
St George's portrayal of today's social icons is both hilarious and truthfully thoughtprovoking. He leaves noone out it seems as dr hibachi tells you how he sees the world and although satyrical, most of it's not far from the truth.

Far Beyond the Traditional
"Abandoned Autos" examines some of the subtleties of American automobile culture. The photos contained in this work range from vehicles rediscovered in farmers' fields, to several with trees growing through the engine compartment. Such photos are then contrasted wth corporate promotional literature from when the vehicles were new. Excellent stuff for readers who are lured by the path less travelled and can appreciate the beauty and even sadness embodied in these cultural icons depicted well past their prime.

ABANDONED AUTOS
AN EXCELLENT GIFT FOR LOVERS OF (UNRESTORED) OLD CARS.I GAVE ONE AS A BIRTHDAY GIFT AND THE FEMALE RECIPIENT WAS DELIGHTED. INTERESTING TEXT AND LOVELY PHOTOS MAKE THIS A LIGHT-HEARTED ADDITION FOR THE COFFEE TABLE

Good characters, lots of history, and imaginative plots makes for an enjoyable read. Looking forward to a sequel!

Couldn't Put It Down!
This story was amazing. The author obviously did much research and tied a story together that was compelling and thrilling. It moves fast with twists and turns and was just exciting from start to finish.

I planned a liesurely read, but couldn't stop reading until I finished. For a first work, this book should be a real winner.

Profound and enjoyable, too. Great combination!
Mark Gerzon, in A House Divided : Six Belief Systems Struggling for America's Soul, provides insight into the major dynamics of American politics and culture and the internal struggles which will shape our nation for generations to come. If the reader will put himself in the place of each of the segments of American society as Gerzon so convincingly describes each one, he will gain remarkable new understanding of the commonalities and the divisions within our country. Great read and important information.

Required reading for those interested in our society.
Not an easy read, but one that you will be glad you did if you are the type of person that is interested in the world arround you. The challenge here is to read and become a better person for having done so. It should open your mind

Very thorough and balanced
It is a must for every christian, beginning with Pastors and so forth.

We must revisit the house that God built, and begin to lay upon it with the knowledge that all of our work will be tried!!

So build it right and it will stand.

God wants to focus us!
The Christian Church of the nineties is drowning in a flood of human ideas and programs to bring "God's dreams" to pass. Impatient to impress, we preach on television each week, and our radio programs air three times a day. We knock on every door in town, run full-page advertisements and take out full-color billboards across our country. Somehow we're missing the mark!

What if God were to take away from the Church everything He never told us to do?

God is solemnly calling us to enter the gates of His true house. It is here that we will discover--and learn to live out in practical ways--the spiritual order of the House that God built for David...and of the House that God is building in and with us!

DELICIOUSLY NAUGHTY
Where do I begin? Mark Pritchard goes 7 for 7 with his second collection of erotic stories. No filler here kiddies. Lessons In Submission starts it off with a man describing several hot scenes with his woman. My question to you is : is it live or is it phone sex? Ordinary Story follows Jim as he meets his lover Ron's girlfriend. You'll particularly enjoy the excellent dialog between Jim and his friends ("I'm afraid you have...Gap disease") before the story culminates in a very hot 3 way. Cousin clocks in as the shortest of the bunch but don't let that or the subject matter throw you. Trick finds Sam following Cary to meet his "Daddy". Things start to heat up a bit when the trio are interrupted by Dirk Powers, porn star, and his movie pals. While you're disappointed at the break in the action, things pick back up when Sam wanders off to Dirk's waiting limo. Sounds like a pro/am video waiting to happen. Incest, my personal favorite, while not exactly P.C., is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! 'Nuff said. The title story finds Susan embarking on a 9 1/2 Weeks (the book, not the movie) tinged lesbian affair with Elena. Prom rounds out the group with a nice long story that I can best describe as Natural Born Killers show up for an orgy at the final dance of the school year. If there is a taboo that this one doesn't cover, I can't think of what it is. An excellent collection that contains great dialog, hot action, and a little something for everyone. When I was finished reading it, I was struck by 2 things. First, with the exception of Prom, you can't readily discern the gender of the proagonist for the first few paragraphs. Second, I can't wait for the 2nd edition of Mark's 1st collection, Too Beautiful & Other Stories, to be released. I also hope he's diligently at work on Collection #3.

American street level erotica that sizzles ...
WOW what a pleasant surprise ... and, trust me one has to snuflle through a lot of (junk) to find any new erotic literature from a US author that stands heads above the fray ....

'How I Adore You' is a series of seven distict stories, between 20 to 40 pages each, giving both the author and the reader sufficient time to develop the characters and the mini plots to make each story a delicious meal in itself. Mark Pritchard's writing style is smooth, captivating with an 'in your face' kind of earthiness that makes the reader feel like he's right there in the middle of the action. And what action there is, it comes at you in all flavours and touches those hidden delicious fantasies, that, although the reader may not ever actually participate in real life, but, to sit and watch ... ahhh there's the mastery of the author.....

The book starts with a very short story 'Lessons in Submission' that lets us wander into the mind of a young man painting a crystal clear mental portrait of a seduction of his submissive girfriend. The abslolutely amazing part of this story is that the author is able to tell this story without falling into that easy trap of turning the story into the kink of domination, discipline, and rape.....

In 'Ordinary Story' we are introduced to a young black man, in San Fran, OF COURSE, troubled by an affair with Ron, who says that he has no problems with his homosexuality but that the does also have sex with one woman. Our hero has a problem with that and does not know if Ron is being truthfull in his feelings or if he is a bona fide bi-sexual. He discusses the issue with some of his friends in a conversation that is so well written I avtually thought I was sitting there with them. Our hero then decides to invite both Ron and his female sex partner, Pamela to dinner so that he can try to really understand Ron and this whole bi-sexual thing. Suffice it to say, the dinner was mind blowing and again, so real life I practically ripped the pages out of the book to get to the next part fo the story ...

Although it would be tempting to give you a flavour of all the stories, the coming of age story 'Incest' is probably my personal favorite, I must admit that this is a must have book for our erotic library to be enjoyed over and over ....

This book is a great read
"How I became a human being" is a great read. It is one of those books that I had trouble putting down, once I had begun reading it. Mark O'Brien is a truely inspirational person, who proves that if you set your mind to something, you can achieve whatever you want to in life despite, in his case, extraordinary obstacles. I simply can't imagine being paralysed from the neck down. What amazed me while reading the book, was that at times, I forgot that Mark had such a profound disabilty, with his humour, personality and love coming through in his writing.
My only criticism of this book is that there was no mention at any point of Mark's realization that he would never walk again, that he would forever be reliant on others and indeed be reliant on an iron lung. When was he first told he would never walk again? How did he and his parents react to this news? Did he live in hope that by some miracle, he would walk again or did he accept that this was the way he was going to be for the rest of his life? After finishing the book, I felt that these questions were left largely unanswered.
Also, as Mark O'Brien died in 1999, I felt that it would have been good for the co-writer to have written an epilogue regarding the circumstances of his death. Throughout the book Mark comes close to death on several occasions and he talks about death in quite some detail, but the reader is left with no details of the actual circumstances in which he died.
Despite these criticisms, I recommend this book highly. It is an amazingly inspirational read.

Disabled poet does not beg for sympathy
September 1955. Six-year-old Mark O'Brien moved his arms and legs for the last time. He came out of a thirty-day coma to find himself enclosed from the neck down in an iron lung, the machine in which he would live for much of the rest of his life.

How I Became a Human Being is Mark O'Brien's account of his struggles to lead an independent life despite a lifelong disability. In 1955, he contracted polio and became permanently paralyzed from the neck down. O'Brien describes growing up without the use of his limbs, his adolescence struggling with physical rehabilitation and suffering the bureaucracy of hospitals and institutions, and his adult life as an independent student and writer. Despite his weak physical state, O'Brien attended graduate school, explored his sexuality, fell in love, published poetry, and worked as a journalist. A determined writer, O'Brien used a mouthstick to type each word.

O'Brien's story does not beg for sympathy. It is rather a day-to-day account of his reality?the life he crafted and maintained with a good mind, hired attendants, decent legislation for disabled people in California, and support from the University of California at Berkeley. He describes the ways in which a paralyzed person takes care of the body, mind, and heart. What mattered most was his writing, the people he loved, his belief in God, and his belief in himself.

Mark O'Brien was the subject of the 1997 Academy Award?winning documentary Breathing Lessons. He was a published poet and cofounder of the Lemonade Factory, a California press that published poetry by people with disabilities. O'Brien died in 1999 at the age of forty-nine after completing a draft of How I Became a Human Being . Gillian Kendall is a writer. She has contributed to both Outright Radio and Sun magazine; one of her short stories appeared in The Student Body, also published by the University of Wisconsin Press.

it was fun

Build a better dog with this book!
How I Built Rusty is a clever creativity book which shows kids how to build their own cardboard dog, while treating them to a fetching tale about a kid named Wilbur whose parents won't let him get a dog. You guessed it--Wilbur builds his own dog from scratch! I liked this book because it applies reading and creativity. Kids read along with story rhymes and learn to follow instructions to put together their own 3-D dog, Rusty.

Cartoon-style illustrations makes this book a fun read. Your kids will also get hands-on learning as they push tabs into slots, and pay close attention to directions.

No glue, scissors, or power tools required other than an active imagination. Just remember you can't walk this dog or take it swimming. It's paper!

This book would make a great gift for younger kids (grades 2-5) and makes for a fun rainy day project. Don't be surprised if Rusty the dog takes up a prominent space on your child's bookcase.

Building Rusty can be a great bonding moment for parents and kids.Parents can take this book to the next level by creating their very own recycled art project out of junk with their kids! No rust required, just a good dose of imagination!

Compare the caliber of this book to Schwab's Guide to Financial Independence, Stanley & Danko's Millionaire Next Door and O'Shaughnessey's How to Retire Rich.

very informative and easy to understand
This is one of the easiest books to read and understand. It makes sense and after reading this book I have already begun to do some of the things that Alch suggests.

Great Reference Cookbook!!
Every cook, whether beginner or more advanced, should have this book. The recipes are simple enough for a beginner, but allow for experimentation for someone more advanced. There's great information on every page regarding the recipe or main ingredient. All in all, one that I would recommend to anyone!

A life-changing cookbook!
Can a cookbook bring about a substantial change in your life? Well, this one sure did in mine!

A month or so ago I picked up _The Basics_ at the bookstore, thinking that some of the easy recipes could help me replace Healthy Choice TV Dinners as my standard evening fare. Well, not only have I thrown away those old TV Dinners to make freezer room for better food, now every evening I make delicious, healthy meals based on this book's recipes, meals that rival my favorite restaurants here in Seattle. And I'm having a great time doing it, too!

Personally, I've found Bittman's general purpose advice in the Introduction and "Basics" sidebars even more useful than the recipes. Advice about quality ingredients, the broad variety of interesting materials you can find at your corner grocer, and knowing when a meal is done - all the cooking basics I never learned from Mom but wish I had.

Mark Bittman, thank you - you've made me a believer and a rabid fan.
