better for adults than kids?
Back in junior high school (ie, MANY moons ago) I read Tom Sawyer and/or Huckleberry Finn. However I couldn't remember which one, nor did I know one story from the other (like most Americans, I've seen more film adaptations of these stories than I care to recall). So I decided to read these little jewels once again. And I'm so glad I did.

First of all, I don't believe either story is suitable for children really. Both Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer seem too, well, immature compared to the youths of today. And the crude racist language is certainly unfashionable nowadays. But as an adult one can appreciate these stories as Mark Twain's trip down memory lane, looking at life on the river with rose-colored glasses. No, the stories (..which we all know) are not realistic. But they are fun, harmless and well-written.

The Wordsworth Edition is very nice little package of both stories. And I certainly recommend reading both stories back-to-back since they flow together well.

So I recommed all middle-aged kids (like me) revisit Mark Twain's memorable boys. They will bring a smile to your face.

Beautifully Bound
A wonderful edition which includes both Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn (very handy for the Twain lover). It also has a red bookmark attached to the binding so you can easily find your place. The book is small and light so it is ideal for travelling and reading out of your home. It also includes a nice introduction and a comparative chronology of Twain's life. For a Twain collector, this is a lovely, readable copy.

Interesting
I like this book, it's very interesting. I don't usually like to read but I enjoyed this book because it was interesting. It kept you guessing at what was going to happen next, and I liked the way some of the words were spelled; it showed how they pronounced the words. If you like suspense, then I would recommend this book.

Awsome and It diserves to be read again dood
It was just so awsome and my imagination is still bogiling from the solving of the mysteries like Jake Dunlap stealing the diamonds.

A twist on a classic novel with Ravenloft horror mixed in
I read this book shortly after finishing Death of a Darklord, as I wished to read more on Azalin, whom supposedly makes a cameo in the novel. Indeed, he does, but not like I expected. The book is fantastic, anyway, and it had some of the greatest characters and plot twists I'd ever seen.

In the end, you pitied the protagonist, loathed the villain, and felt for the two female leads, whose different paths merged to put them both on the path to ruin. The most intriguing character (and the one who surprised me by NOT doing what I thought he'd do), though, would have to be the gnome, Pock, whose comic relief was welcome in some parts.

The book wasn't perfect (thus, only the 4 stars), but it was a rousing tale and a good read, if a bit cheesy at times.

This one is good....dark and fun!
This book was an over all fun read. The main character of the story (Wort) gets his revenge on the many people who treat him so badly, which made for some fun revenge hungry reading! This story has a very dark feel to it, and many of the characters are selfish and greedy (which added to the dark atmosphere). Some of the positives of the book would have to be

1. The characters
If you have not read this book yet look for Lady Jadis the WerePanther- SHE IS COOL!Also Azalin makes an appearance along with some other cool new charecters.Wort plays some what of a villain in the later half of the book, and you love him for it! I give the characters 5 stars.

2. The revenge
If you enjoy sweet revenge or if someone has ever made you feel bad about the way you look you'll love this!Theres Nothing better than good paybacks!

3. The author
I had not read any of Mark Anthony's work before reading "Tower of Doom". He is a talented writer, and I was very impressed by the way he fine tuned the book.
The only negative input on the book is the whole Hunchback in the Bell Tower thing. Its a little bit Notre Dameish. (But thats OK right?)

With Zombies,Hunchbacks,Gnomes, and Were Panthers and a Dark classic Ravenloft setting....Its hard to dislike this book. Give it a try.

Transactions of the Royal Martian Geographical Society: The Journal of Victorian Era Roleplaying

A most welcome compilation!
This volume collects the first four issues of the Transactions of the Royal Martian Geographical Society, a formerly-defunct magazine for GDW's late, lamented Space:1889. I regretted not acquiring these issues when they came out, but now I'm glad I waited. This combined edition is greatly superior to the originals: layout is improved, there are more graphics, and it is nice to have everything combined under one set of covers. The articles themselves are good-to-excellent in quality, and are frequently better than the material released for the original game. Many of the authors are professional historians or graduate students of history, and their depth of knowledge shows. The only thing preventing me from giving this product five stars were the facts that a: my copy (and mine alone, it seems, since I spoke with others who purchased this) was a little defective, and b: this product only covers Space: 1889--which was entirely fine by me, but might limit its appeal to other Victorian-era gamers who aren't great fans of the Space: 1889 universe. Future issues will broaden the coverage, I am told.

I am also told that the editors believe that this product was not 100% perfect, and that there is room for improvement. Personally, I don't see how. I found the product to be excellent, and welcome its release. And if volume 2 is going to be better than this, as the editors promise, it will be _extremely_ impressive indeed.

Wonderful resource for Space: 1889
If you like role playing in the Victorian Era, this is a resource that you won't want to pass on.

There are all sorts of nifty things, adventures, floorplans, characters, cross over ideas, and background flavor.

An honest attempt to provide advice on Supply Chain thinking
This book does not pass itself off as a deep text as to finding the Holy Grail in Supply Chain terms. So do not buy it if you are looking for a complex set of answers.

But please buy it if you are starting to think that some of your problems, or more importantly some of your opportunities, are some how linked to the way in which your business operates.

Not business is an island so we depend on others who thus bring variation and their own shortfalls into our business, even though we may not see this when we are so close to every day decision making.

The table 1.2 is the simplest decsription I have ever seen as to the 9 types of supply relationships.

A practical book, soft cover so not overtly pretentious, and good value for those who can use some ideas to create their own.

Great Primer!
This is one of the best, yet concise work that I have seen. SCM is like art...many terms and interpretations exist. It's not about moving stuff but a strategy. Therein lies the strength of this book.

It starts with a fundamental look at value and value drivers and how they relate to business strategy down the supply chain. The beginning chapter also introduces a valuable schematic representation of strategic options that drives value through the transformational process. Each transformational option is examined in detail subsequently chapter by chapter.

Each chapter in turn is peppered with cases covering a broad industry segment to illustrate each transformational option.

Overall, it's an excellent practical primer for the practitioner looking for stepping stones to transform the supply chain. Don't expect to find all the answers. However you can be assured that this book will open you up to a host of new ideas and change your thinking in the process. It did mine!

It's very welcomed reading and a great departure from the many books on SCM many of which tends to lean more towards the theoretical.

The best, but still lacking
This is the most complete treatise covering the 10/22 that I have been able to find. While the 10/22 is a fairly simple rifle, there are a great many modifications that may be made. This book covers most of the modifications in a general sense and a few in detail. Those looking for an 'advanced' users manual will be elated. Those looking for something akin to Jerry Kunhausen's gunsmithing series will be disappointed. Excellent: The notes on maintenance and general 'sprucing up' of the action, as well as disassembly work. Disappointing: The trigger job information will improve the trigger in terms of creep, but not really reduce its' incredibly heavy pull. (The author simply states that new (pre-jobbed) hammers may be had at great expense. Overall, worth having if you're a 10/22 buff, but ripe to be replaced if someone wants to try.

Short and Sweet
The book's short, but covers just about anything that you'd really be interested in doing to a 10/22. You don't have to be a gunsmith to understand what he's talking about, but you do have to know how a semi-automatic rifle works. It covers barrel improvements, "fixing" the receiver for easier cleaning, trigger improvements, and excellent, brief information on .22LR ammunition and semi-automatic rifles in general. This book doesn't teach you how to be a gunsmith, work a lathe, or turn the 10/22 into a machine-gun. But, the ideas for improving the 10/22 are worth the price many times over. (...)

Fairly Comprehensive "How To" Guidebook
Riveting. I really didn't know how it was going to end. Was the internal temperature of the heap high enough to kill the pathogens yet let the aerobic decomposers work? Was the carbon to nitrogen ratio correct? Was the worm population going to survive or was there to be another mass die off? Wow. A real page turner.

Actually, this does have some useful drawings for making your own composters including worm based composters and turning devices. It also has a decent source list at the back where you can find the names and addresses of places that will help you recycle kitchen and garden waste.

I could have done without the political activism parts of the book. It polarizes the reading audience. It should have focused on helping those who are interested in starting compost heaps rather than trying to encourage a particular environmental policy.

Great book
This book has tons of info on composting. I personally was interested in vermicomposting (great for people who live in apartments or rentals) and this book gave me a lot of good information to start my compost bin.

Childress doesn't disappoint.
V for Victor was the second book I read by Mark Childress and I wasn't disappointed. Being from Alabama, I could definately relate to this 16-year old boy and his need for adventure. From the first moment to the last, I was enthralled by this book and the eye-popping adventures Victor experienced. Shouldn't everyone have a summer like this?

Terrific adventure for kids of all ages
I loved the whole watery world of Mobile Bay, and so did my nephew, 14 years younger than I. I think this is one of the most accomplished, poetic adventure novels I've ever read. Victor and his buddy Butch are unforgettable. Definitely one of this author's best.
