Not as good as Crypt
As a follow up to Crypt of the Shadowking this book falls flat. I really can't place exactly where or how, except that maybe the main focus shifted from Cal to Mari. Most of the adventure and excitement were really lacking. Oh, I just realized what was wrong. . . .there really isn't a main villain here. You pretty much know how the book will end before you're even halfway through. At least Crypt had a good foe for Cal in Cutter. Here it is more of a race against time, without any of the real suspense on whether they will succeed in their quest to help their friend. This is a passable book, but only if you have nothing better to read.

Great book and excellent sequel!
Great book! I have enjoyd reading this book very much. But if you haven't read the previous one (Crypt of the Shadowking) y recommend you to read it, becouse it's as good as this one.

The plot here is placed in time sortly after Crypt of the Shadowmage. The plot is great, and, even when you can see what is happening, you don't know for sure how it is going to end. The Quest for find ...ejem.."something" (I can't say it here, sorry, you'll understand when you read it ;P ) is not long and with some surprise, and maybe you can guess how it will end and maybe. II didn't guess when I readed it but, I was to deep inside the book reading it, that I wasn't thinking of what will happen or how will it end.

The characters are also good. The only dissapoint I have is with Kellen. Ok, he is lovely, but, for my taste, he is a bit perfect, knows everything and is thinking in things a child of his age wouldn't think. He must have been playing instead of saving the world, but even with this, the book is great.

Buy it, and judge yourself, is the best I can say.

Superb!
This is the sequel to "Crypt of the Shadowking" and is even better!! I love Anthony's writing style. This was a compulsive read, and I finished it in about a day. The narrative sweeps the reader along with just the right pacing and excitememt, and the story itself is a logical extension of the first book. The only slight problems were that, 1. the whole story surrounding Stiletto was just too predictable; sorry Mark, but I saw it coming a mile away, and 2. I was a little disappointed with the epilogue, which I thought was a bit unfair (I can't say why without giving away important elements of the story). But these really are minor quibbles, and I would highly recommend both of Anthony's "Harpers" books. I hope that we will see another story about these characters. I'd especially like to see something involving Kellen as Morhion's apprentice; could have lots of interesting possibilities! When you finish your latest writing project, how about it Mark?

Not the same when Dave isn't doing it live
Some of the lists are very funny, but it's missing something in book form because you're missing Dave's delivery. Also, a one-joke book gets kind of thin quick. I recommend only reading three or four lists at a time so the novelty doesn't wear off. Great bathroom reading.

The Lists Just Keep on Coming
This collection is from the Late Show era, not the Late Night era. However, believe it or not, these top ten lists are funny enough to read and reread. For those of you like myself, who are Letterman fans, this collection, like all previous collections, borders on the essential. Do yourself a favor, though, and buy the Late Night editions as well.

Worldwide Pants
This is another hilarious collection of Top Tens. Will they come out with any more?

I Luv Wolves
Animal lovers will love this book. It's great and since I've read it I've been interested in wolves. I love animals an I think it was perfect for my age. My teacher even read it! It was sad that Tokie had to go back and not stay with Cassie, but it's still five stars!

Sarah`s Super Review
I like the book The Dog With Golden Eyes.On a scale from 1 to 1o, I would give it a 9.One of the things I like about it is that one of the main characters is a dog. I think many third graders would find this book interesting. It is about a girl who finds a dog and takes care of it.But what she later learns is that the dog is an Arctic Wolf.Read this book to find out what happens.I think the author did an excellent job Describing the setting and charactors. I learned from the book that caring for an animal is a big responsibility. So next time your looking for a good book try The Dog With Golden Eyes!

A Book That Opened up my Eyes
The Dog with Golden Eyes is my favorite book. I am getting a dog on my next birthday and I now know that it will be a big responsibility. I was touched by how Ms. Wilbur described the characters, especially the wolf. It was like I could see it. If I were to put it on a scale of one to ten, I would give it a fifteen! If you ever are in search of a good book, try A DOG WITH GOLDEN EYES!!

Extremely fast response and shipment
The response and shipment from the seller was extremely fast. Also, the book was in an excellent condition as was described by the seller. A trustworthy seller I would say.

Very Good Book
This book covers wide range of topics in C including data structure implementation and does them well. It is a good introductory book as well as reference. My only gripe is that his symbol precedence chart is confusing.

excellent !
This is an excellent book for those who have had some kind of programming experience. If u have taken an introductory course in computer science u will find this book to be a gem. It covers the topics that are fundamental to c programming ie the Data strcutres in depth. I would recommend this book for anyone who is serious about learning C. Also check out his "data structures in java" which is another valuable book for those interested in java.

if you are visiting NYC read this book
If you want to stay in the cocoon of midtown Manhattan don't bother with this book. But if you want to see the REAL, non-homogenized-Middle-American New York, read this. If you want to see the outer boroughs, read this to know what's interesting. Thanks to this book, I discovered:

*Jackson Heights (mostly Columbian) *Brighton Beach (mostly Russian) *Greenpoint (Polish) *Bensonhurst (the REAL Little Italy) *Belmont (another Italian area in the Bronx; I liked Bensonhurst better, its easier to reach by subway, bigger and better kept) *3 separate Hasidic Jewish areas (Crown Heights, Boro Park and Williamsburg) *Washington Heights (Dominician/Puerto Rican) *Astoria (Greek) *Flushing (Chinese) *Atlantic Avenue (Arabic) *Midwood (Syrian Jewish)

One caveat: if you are interested in one particular restaurant call to make sure it is open.

A great guide in finding excellent NYC metro restaurants
I found that this guide assists you in discovering the diversity, background, and curiosity within Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Bronx neighborhoods. I used it to uncover new restaurants and cuisines, especially authentic, unpretentious, inexpensive ones, whenever visiting the Big Apple.

It is great when you go into neighborhoods where they just don't speak English and often new immigrants (natives) on the street or over the phone are too myopic in giving directions.

It is great for the NYC visitor as exploring Queens and Brooklyn by subway doesn't come without some intrepidation, especially in the evening. But after qualifying the areas that I do know quite well, Little Italy and Chinatown, I read areas that I recently visited Koreantown, Manhattan and Little Columbia in Jackson Heights, Queens. I now value the insight and comprehensive amount of research the author presents.

Each ethnic group has a clear vignette on when they came and settled, the reasons for immigrating, noteworthy aspects of their culture, political and religious organizations, and restaurants, markets, shops, museums, and cultural activities. Some 500 pgs worth!

He gives a lot of practical info, phone numbers, hours open, specialties, so that when you are on a quest, you can find it. Lots of factoids and city trivia are sprinkled everywhere. Many opinions were on the mark. Good index.

The first reviewer needs to read more thoroughly: a) Russian Jews in Brighton Beach, p 223-8; b) Germans in Ridgewood, Queens (next to Glendale), p 55-7; c) even a random tourist like me knows that The Bronx starts at 140-150th St, a typo.

My main critique is that the author could have included simple "bigger-picture" maps showing the neighborhoods and Metro stops to make it more tourist friendly. While he gives general directions on where they are located, often I couldn't determine which borough it was in.

"Ethnic New York is Ethnic Spectacular"
I found this book accurate and amazing! Mr. Leeds highlights so many neighborhoods with a keen understanding for New York and its cornucopia of ethnic flavor. Mr. Leeds, adding to what few tour guides know and understand, recognizes the recent Jewish immigrants to Brighton Beach-- in addition to pinpointing the best restaurants (Russian, Germnan, Italian Polish, Puerto Rican, etc.) with a simplicity, profundity, and flair that makes visiting them extra special!

Great Ghost Book
I enjoy reading Mark's Ghost of Gettysburg books. He writes the stories against the historical background of Gettysburg Pennsylvania. I have personally met Mark, and although he acts like he doesn't believe a word you tell him about ghosts, he is a good writer. I like his latest book better than this one.

A Great Book
I think that this was a great book, and the style that Nesbitt writes with is amazing. I have read the book cover to cover many times. His writing makes it feel like you are in Gettysburg, seeing the ghosts for yourself. An essential for any body who loves the Civil War! Deals with a lot of paranormal sightings during the filming of the movie Gettysburg.

The best information on great stories from Gettysburg!
Former Park Ranger Mark Nesbitt has over the years gathered many ghost stories from other park rangers, visitors and people who live in the area. Nesbitt tries to gather factual data on the stories he receives so he can offer a background as to why these ghost stories may have evolved. His stories are usually quite interesting and do not just talk about battlefield soldiers, civilians alike are also involved in famous ghost stories in Gettysburg! Buy all 5 books, there worth it! Each has many short stories that are easy and fun to read.

elseworlds as it's best!
Alternative history books - "proper" or comic - start with The question - "What if?" In this case, what if Bruce Wayne happen to live in "innocent" Victorian times - than he could easily become a friend and an apprentice of Sigmund Freud and visit London at the hight of Ripper crimes...
It seems that bat mythos is as reach and as flexible as the Greek ones - you can tell them again and again in different decor, use different cast - and have the same impact!
Beutifully paced story, darkly magnificent art - and horror grandmaster Robert Bloch as an intro writer - what can be better?
Definitely worth hunting for.

A great Batman tale
I was nothing but impressed by this book. The artwork was great, & the story really was top notch. The design for the 1880's Batman costume was extremely cool. Definately a must-read for fans of the Bat & for any comic fans.

The Best of the Alternate Batmen
I beg to differ with the reader from the Phillipines. This is the first of DC Comics " Elseworlds " graphic novels, where they dared to take the popular franchise of Batman and do something radically different with it. But the amazing thing of it is, it works. Mike Mignola's artwork is at its moody best;giving the tale a dark and claustrophobic feel. The image of the Victorian Batman is one of Gothic power, particularly near the end as he chases the Ripper on a black charger. Very intimidiating. The story is an intriguing one, and I liked how the Ripper and the Batman were linked. At one point, because of his nightly abscences, Bruce Wayne is suspected of being the killer! Who is? Ah, there's the real mystery. Augustyn's writing is top notch, and he's clearly in love with this take on the Dark Knight. If you want more of the Victorian Batman, read the superb sequel Batman: Master of the Future. If only they'd create a new book, this Caped Crusader deserves more

Great Book
Gundam: Official Guide is an agile and not very exaustive book about the Gundam universe. But it covers all the series (apart the newest Gundam Seed) with short description, analisys and illustartions. Best of all: it's in English, so you'll can understand what's written inside :)
A must-have for all Gundam fans!

A Good Guide for the Unknown Gundams
This guide was good, but some of the reviews I read here didn't give me a good picture of the actual product I would receive. Not ALL the characters of a series were showed, but enough background story and character information was written to develop a basic grasp of the many Gundam series and movies that have not yet been released in the US. It got me interested in the Gundam X, ang Turn-A-Gundam, which I really never knew anything about b4 except for their names. (Sadly, this book was written b4 any info on Gundam Seed came out, so it has nothing on that series.)
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about the Gundam series, especially the one not yet released in US. I DON'T recommend this book as a sourcebook for the Gundam universe, all the info is correct, as far as I know, but the guide never gives enough of it.

Check out the Gundam Official Guide!
The "Gundam Official Guide" is a must have for all Mobile Suit Gundam fans! I really suggest you buy it. It has info on all of the Gundam TV series', OVAs, movies, and the live action movie "G-Savior"! Also, it has information on the different Gundam video games and comics / graphic novels!!!! Homosexuality: The Use of Scientific Research in the Church's Moral Debate

Thorough discussion of homosexuality, flawed theology
Jones and Yarhouse's comprehensive discussion of the science of homosexuality is welcome and long overdue. In particular, the authors touch upon a subject -- ex-gays -- that both liberal and conservative activists have avoided addressing scientifically because the facts reflect poorly on the claims of both sides.

This book makes no claim to be unbiased. The authors do impose a conservative Protestant filter upon their evaluations and commentaries. This results in extensive discussion of "the" (singular) Christian sexual ethic which completely excludes Catholic and liberal or independent Protestant perspectives on sexual ethics. The authors also succumb to caricatures of positions with which they disagree; they periodically stereotype the proponents of alternative ethical frameworks as well as the widely differing perspectives of gay-tolerant Christian and gay-tolerant non-Christian scientists, clergy and civil-rights activists.

Overall the book is a useful addition to the discussion of the science of sexuality within a conservative Protestant framework.

Wonderful and Timely
This book is a must read for all psychiatry shcools

A well-written, balanced book
This book deserves to rank higher on Amazon.com's sales list. It seems very difficult to find a book that deals with this subject fairly, since this subject is so politically charged. But this book does a very good job of laying out the most current scientific research. People who should read it may not because they may assume that it's coming from a traditional religious perspective. Ultimately, it is. But the authors lay the scientific research out fairly and draw rational conclusions from it. It's hard to see how anybody could be offended by this book, no matter what side of the fence they happen to be on.Much of the material overlaps with Thomas Schmidt's "Straight and Narrow" (published five years earlier by the same publisher, Intervarsity Press). But Schmidt's book was more overtly critical of homosexuality, whereas this book is somewhat less personal and more clinical. The authors seem to take some pains not to offend. But the book does show (as Schmidt does) that the media coverage of this subject tends to really oversimplify (and, to a degree, whitewash) a very complex subject.

Not for Sensitive Kids
I cannot recommend this book for young children. The poem in which a dog kills a cat was very upsetting to my child.

I gave the book 3 stars because I would recommend it to adults or mature children.

Best Cat Book Ever
The text and illustrations are sophisticated and magnificent. Some of the best children's poetry I've come across in a very long time. Incredibly witty, fresh and original. In quality, not too far behind T.S. Eliot! (Compared to other "cat books," that is.) Buy it for cat lovers of all ages, except, DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOUNG AND/OR SENSITIVE CHILDREN (there's carnage and "sacrilege").

Perfect rythmn and delightful prose. Darling illustrations!
The illustrations and prose were combined with perfect rythmn and rhyme. The cat tales were humorous, imaginative, and truly delightful. I especially loved the story about how cats lost their wings. Cat lovers will read this book with a smile on their face and in their heart. Although this book is recommended for ages 4-8, I at 46 and my luncheon companion of 72 loved this as if we were 4 and 8. I recommend this book for anyone who loves cats and a good book that takes you beyone your own imagination.
