Sql Server book geared towards real-world administration
It seems if you're not supporting over 1k users (or a global network), Microsoft textbooks are harder to comprehend to your situation. Micosoft books focus on what the software is capable of, while this book focuses on what you are likely to encounter on the job. If you like the query analyzer, this book is for you. Highly recommended.

Good Reference Book
I used this book in combination with some web information to study for the Microsoft Certification test. (70-028) This book was great at updating what I knew for 6.5. This book is aimed at experienced SQL Server users.

A breathtaking, full-color, guide and history
Deftly edited by Mark Wilson and now published in a newly updated and revised edition, St. Paul: The Traveler And Roman Citizen by Oxford University's first professor of classical art and archaeology William M. Ramsay (1851-1939) is a breathtaking, full-color, guide and history of Christianity's premier missionary and apostolic father St. Paul, both before and after his conversion in Palestine. Originally published in 1939, this new edition of St. Paul: The Traveler And Roman Citizen has been enhanced with materials that the author Ramsay published subsequent to his book, as well as enhanced for the reader with more than one hundred color photographs, including many of the holy land where St. Paul once lived and traveled. A vivid, thoroughly researched, highly recommended study guide for any who wish to learn more about St. Paul's missionary travels.

Not to be Missed
I have been waiting a long time for this modern reissue of Ramsay's classic work. Wilson's edition does not disappoint. The book is beautifully printed (the old editions were so dreary) and now includes over a hundred color photos of relevant sites and images. These images are carefully placed near the texts that they illustrate. Also maps, charts and colorful sidebars have been added. Ramsay's work in Turkey is, and remains, the basis of all subsequent investigations - and Wilson is well qualified to follow in his footsteps. This book is a must for those who are interested in the expansion of Christianity into Asia Minor, Greece, and to Rome. This edition now presents a complete picture of the life of the Apostle Paul - it is a foundational work.

Appreciation for Myrna Stahman's work
Myrna Stahman did a wonderful job with her research and planning for working a Faroese-Shaped Shawl from the neck down. Her information was detailed, informative, and creative. Her many hours of work have made my job so much easier! It does take some concentration to pursue these patterns. The end results are worth the challenge. Myrna Stahman has taken much of the frustration out of Faroese shawls. Her work allows you to pursue your own pattern designs with style and confident results.

In appreciation of all Stahman's work
I have knitted one shawl as presented in the book (Catharina), and one that I designed using Stahman's design guidelines. In addition, I have also made several Seaman's Scarves following her "Matthew" pattern (dedicated to the memory of Matthew Shepard). In all cases I used my own handspun yarns. While it took some concentration to adapt a totally different lace design to the Faroese shaping, I couldn't have done it without Stahman's many hours of planning and designing. I'm indebted to this book, and recommend it to adventurous novices or experienced knitters alike. [....]

I have the orignals of this story and would tell any fan outthere that this book is well worth the price. If you likeSpider-man, and/or Venom this is an excellent book.

The Creation of Marvel's NO-GOOD Villian
The story starts with Cletus Cassidy, serving 11 consecutive life sentences, in the same cell as Eddie Brock, who continues to train himself for the destruction of Spiderman. When Eddie's "other", the alien symbiote bent on Spidey's death, breaks him outta jail, it leaves behind a spawn of itself, the same yet different. Cassidy runs into it while watching Venom flee. They bond and CARNAGE is born. Spiderman investigates the random murders of CARNAGE after a fellow lab assistant at ESU is killed there. After a tussle, Spidey decides the only way to stop one madman with no sense of right is to bring in another with a twisted sense of justice. Having a handicapped daughter the book touched my very soul.
My child is now 11 years old. After suffering a near drowning experience when she was 12 months, my days months and years seemed never ending. I endured heartache after heartache and no one could give me any answers. One day I was going to a Christian Book Sale and found "Stasia's Gift". My daughter's disability is so severe and the story the Kelley's wrote about their daughter answered so many questions and gave me the hope to endure what ultimately will happen and why I am walking this walk. I thank God for Stasia's life and rejoice in her death and know that she is the angel watching over my little one as well. To think they will walk hand in hand into the Father's arms one day gives me great peace. Unfortunately my marriage ended because of this, but my life will go on and so will Alexandra's. God has truly blessed me with a child and has given me a purpose to be on this earth.

An incredible story of faith, hope, and love.

"Stasia's Gift" is the story of a little girl and the many lives she touched. Stacia was severely handicapped. She had only ten percent of her brain and would never talk. She would never eat by herself. She would never play like most children. She would never live to grow up. But through all that, God had a plan for her life.

When people looked into her face they saw the joy of the Lord and were brought closer to Him. Through loving Stasia, her parents came to know and love the one who had chosen to bestow her on them. Through her, they learned strength and compassion; joy and hope; and true, unconditional love.

A Protein Lover's Dream...
I have been on the protein diet for nearly 4 years now and have been successful, however you do get so sick of plain old steaks. This book is a godsend. The first recipe in the book is from Emeril Lagasse and looks wonderful. That's the next one I am going to make.

I made the Strip steaks stuffed with Garlic and Creamy Chard. This recipe is phenomenal. This book is definitely worth every penny.

The Steak Lover's Companion
This is an excellent book for steak lover's. I had been looking for a book with different and exciting steak recipes. This was definitely it.

An intelligent and very readable introduction to simplicity
This book is a great introduction to the voluntary simplicity movement, why it evolved, why it is spreading so fast and why yo should live a simpler and more "mindful" life. It does not have specific step-by-step advice, but intelligent arguments and lots of facts on the current state of civilization and the simplicity movement. It is a very enjoyable read and very thoughtprovoking. Thank you Mr Burch!

If you want great practical advice to complement this book, get The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs.

Informative and inspiring reading
In Stepping Lightly: Simplicity For People And The Planet, Mark Burch writes in an engaging and "reader friendly" style about the meaning, purpose, and necessity of voluntary simplicity in one's life personal lifestyle and the value of simplicity for individual and collective efforts to create a more sustainable planet and society. Burch persuasively argues for a thoughtful corse of living which requires "cultivating mindfulness" and personal authenticity, as well as balancing livelihood with an intentional and conscious approach to daily life. Stepping Lightly is informative and inspiring reading for anyone seeking a personal, more ecologically friendly, and satisfying lifestyle for themselves, their families, and their communities.

A Thing Of Beauty
Mark Doty begins this book by describing a 350 year old Dutch painting "Still Life with Oysters and Lemon" that he has fallen in love with at the Metropolitan Museum. He then meanders to memories of his "Mamaw" from long ago in East Tennessee-- surely only Southerners call grandparents by that name-- to a poem by Cavafy, to buying an old Italianate Victorian House in Vermont with his partner who later died of AIDS. Along the way, Mr. Doty muses on the subject of balance: the desire to be in a relationship and the need to be free, the balance of order versus clutter, of staying rooted in one place and the need to travel-- and the joy of collecting simple, everyday imperfect things picked up in flea markets rather than perfect expensive objects.

There are so many good things to say about this little 70 page gem that one hardly knows where to begin. Too often I read a work of nonfiction and wish it had remained a short magazine article. That is not so with this book. I wanted it to go on and on. Whether or not the author is correct in his analysis of still life painting, he is completely convincing. Of course, his language is always both concise and beautiful and never gets in the way of what he is saying. Near the end of the book Mr. Doty says "What makes a poem a poem, finally, is that it is unparaphrasable. . . I may try to explain it or represent it in other terms, but then some element of its life will always be missing. It is the same with painting." Such a statement perfectly describes this little masterpiece.

A seamless merging of painting and poetry
Mark Doty has done the impossible. In STILL LIFE WITH OYSTERS AND LEMON he has not only written an extended essay (read epic poem) about his encounter with a simple Dutch Still Life painting, but he has also produced what must become the definitive map for looking, seeing, studying and describing the essence of art in a way that encourages us all to return to the pursuit of beauty. Doty has proved his credentials in art hisory and art technique so that he is able to find the essence of a still life, rhapsodize on the quality of light as captured by an everyday object that makes a centuries old painting seem immediate to our own home, and in doing so reveals his own history of memories, lovers, favorite objects, the passage of time as participants in the transitory moment we call life. So many art critics and art historians have attempted to find this plane of understanding and enlightment with only minimal degrees of success. As a curator and essayist about art I am humbled and in awe. Mark Doty is one of the finest poets in America today and knows his way with words, with phrases that illuminate his stances, with defining emotions inaudible to most of us. But this small book is more than an homage to a particular still life painting (though on that merit alone he wins the competition!). This is a tender, thoughtful journey toward discovering beauty that daily surrounds us, a call to accept the transitory nature in all things and to experience them while we may. No fatalism here, just a door opened to appreciate the cycle of being alive...which just happens to warmly include the aspect of dying as part of that totality. As in Still Life painting: artists have selflessly recreated moments precious to them, frozen them in time to stave off the finite, and in doing so have left us with miraculous images to incorporate into our psyches for perpetuating beauty. This book is a must for art students, for art lovers, and for everyone who yearns to understand the journey of the soul. As Doty informs us, paraphrasing poetry or a painting as focused as a still life is impossible; by nature the essence has been distilled. Writing a review of such a book is near impossible. Gift yourself with a book to which you will return as often as the author has returned to Still Life with Oysers and Lemon!
