Cooper's book is truly a knock-out. A whirlwind, drag-out, bust-em-up, radical, political, cultural tour from Moscow, to Iraq to Cuba and back to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. His eye for telling detail bowled me over as he ripped open the seamy underside of the new global economy and the new world order. I read a lot of lefty writers and enjoy them. But Cooper adds something new to the mix: a real talent for seeing, listening, reporting and writing. Don't miss his chapter on Las Vegas. In a clear homage to Doctor Gonzo (Hunter S. This book about the Roman Colosseum is awseme! I am doing a report on the Colosseum and this book was my primary source in it! It has lot's of info and it's VERY fun to read! the pictures make you see what's going on and there are alot of them! If you need a book about the Colosseum I highly suggest you pick this one!

This book is great.

Anyone fascinated by ancient history can learn a great deal from a book like this. The book provides drawings of typical homes, the markets and the bath houses as well as many other features of daily Roman life.

Besides being loaded with drawings portraying ancient Roman life, there are also brief descriptions of things such as Roman religion, personal security, money, medical treatment, etc.

This is a good book to add to your collection.

Actually, Sanborne gives a good review of Romanian history, with particular attention paid to the Ceausescu era and the post-revolution (1989) government. The chapters on the revolution and post-revolution government are especially informative, as many events of this period are still poorly understood and unclear. Later chapters touch on daily life, art & culture, sports, and several other aspects of Romanian life -- but the chapters on political history and events are where the book really shines.

This book gives a very thorough overview of Romania's situation, with plenty of background information and history. My biggest complaint is that a newer edition (this printing is copyrighted 1996) is needed: much of the most recent data in the book is from 1993, which is ancient history in modern politics.

Still, the book is worth reading if you want or need to know about Romania's political history.

Highly recommand. It is a great book of the topic. I really enjoy reading the chapters about the DECNET AND APPLETALK. everybody can learn something from this book.

I guarantee this book will make you think differently than ever before. Not only does it give an outstanding representation of poetry that fits in the category of cross-gendered verse, but the introduction and conclusion provide a clear-cut, straightforward analysis and context in which to read the poems. This anthology cannot be compared to anything else, because it is so original. I have not found anything like it before, and yet after I read it, I agreed entirely. The editors explain exactly what cross-gendered verse is, and why it is not simply "cross-dressed." I have noticed on the internet that two universities are using the anthology as part of their classes. However, these universities are in Sweden and England. I hope that it is a result of not putting course information on the web, rather than not using the book in the States. This book would be a wonderful addition to any gender-studies, literary criticism, or poetry course. The writing is reader-friendly, as well as profoundly insightful. This would also be a great addition to your personal library, if you like new and refreshing viewpoints to add to your understanding of the world and literature. I recommend reading the essay at the end of the book before reading the poems. It provides the backgrounded needed to understand the cross-gendered concept, and why the editors chose the poems that appear in the book. The only qualm that I have with the book is that there is not more. Although the subject is covered well, I think that an in-depth extensive discussion of this concept could cover a whole book, itself. However, because this is an anthology, it is understandable why the essay is not longer. I only hope that the editors come out with a second volume.
