Disjointed and Without Moral Compass
I realize that this collection of interviews wasn't designed as a whole that transcends the sum of its parts; however, more guidance of any kind was needed here. I'm not asking for a beautiful puzzle whose pieces fit together perfectly, but don't just give me a pile of pieces dumped on the floor carelessly. There was no flow to Bad Guys, and even the chapters don't do much to sort things out- everything is sort of clumped together under the heading of "CRIME," which is too huge a theme not to be subdivided. Creatively, very little was required of this author, and he could have spiced up what little original writing he actually added to this compilation.

Some of the tales are interesting, but the book plays like a series of quotes instead of a tapestry that tells something (incidentally, many of the quotes are quite funny or insightful). It was hard to sort out who was saying what, with almost no details provided about the speakers, who blended in seamlessly in absence of distinguishing characteristics. Not to mention that most of these career criminals had no shortage of offenses to talk about, to the point where there was no use in parsing out their stories into chapters organized by crime. As a result, you gain no more insight into the psychological profile of the murderer than you do of the card sharks.

It is galling how the (criminal) narrators feel they are resigned to their fates, and powerless to stop their lives of crime. Most often than not, it was boredom that drove them to their crimes. There is not a lot of enablement here, which is nice, but nor is there any penitence. There is a lot of self-righteousness on the part of the criminals, many of whom immersed themselves in their seedy worlds because it was easier than securing a lower-paying real job. Many spoiled rich kids got involved in crime to fuel drug habits, and because they weren't used to having to work for things. Many criminals felt that rich folks had it coming when they got robbed- as if possessing money through hard work were more of a crime than beating people to acquire financial gain. Many felt that society in general deserved to get plundered because the system was so vulnerable, and made it so easy for them to get away with their despicable acts.

In general, the only sorrow expressed was precisely due to the fact that these guys and gals got caught and are being interviewed from prison- instead of due to any moral clarity- and it is quite maddening to read.

GREAT!
It is a wonderful book! The words from the criminals is what we call "Right from the horse's mouth! Their words make your skin crawl!" A must read for crime story fans.

Baldrige Smaldrige
There is no greater hoax than the TQM revolution. What it really is, is an excuse to fire people in failing organizations.

If you are reading this book, don't be worried for you are already in Elysium and you are already dead.

Excellent detailed guidance and insight.
Provides a detailed understanding of the criteria, shows how to write an application, and is a tool for assessing an organization and developing plans. Excellent guidance and insight.

Terrible book!
I am writing this review in order to warn new-comers to the field of photography against buying it. Although the title specifies, "for beginners through experts," this book almost requires a degree to comprehend it. Techniques discussed are not for beginners! The book insists you need to spend vast amounts of money and time to develop prints; this is untrue. In fact, a beginner would need to read 6 chapters of the book, which are extremely confusing, before being able to develop a black-and-white print. The process could quite easily be explained in less than a page.

In short, I do not recommend anyone buy this terrible book.

This "Basic" Darkroom Book has it ALL.
As it says on the book's cover, for beginners through experts. Basic indeed! The author covers virtually every subject in photofinishing from basic black & white printing through color processing & printing with various films, papers and chemistry to delving into the digital darkroom! The author explains each subject in entertaining and conversational style to build the foundation for a more detailed and thorough explanation of the science & art of custom darkroom procedures and techniques. Photographs, illustrations and tables compliment the text. Loaded with information making it a valuable reference book even for those of us who have been doing custom black & white and color darkroom work for 20 years! If you have only one book on this subject, this is the book to own. The Basic Darkroom Book third edition is a must have.

Contains no pictures.
This book is described as having over 840 color pictures. It does not have a single picture...A price book with no pictures is useless to me.

A must for Roseville collectors and dealers
Mark Bassett's "Introducing Roseville Pottery" quickly became my favorite Roseville guide. It is comprehensive, easy to use, and the vases are beautifully photographed. Patterns are listed alphabetically, with years of production noted, along with a description of colors and shapes used, the shape numbers where applicable, and values. If there's any fault with this book, is that it does not give a value for every shape (though enough to give you an idea). However, it appears there is a paperback value guide on the way to fix that. There is also a wonderful chapter with photographs of various marks, signatures, and labels, as well as an appendix regarding reproductions and fantasy pieces. One caution to Roseville lovers, after an hour paging through this book at the real Roseville, you'll be picking out new patterns to pursue!

Being In Control : Natural Techniques For Increasing Your Potential For Success In School
Published in Paperback by Rainbow Cloud (01 April, 1999)
Author: Jason Mark Alster
Amazon base price: $8.99

Don't waste your money.
If you buy this book, you will get three pages worth of information, in a thirty page book that costs [item price] and could have been written by a junior high school student without doing any research. The author advises relaxation, aroma therapy and affirmations; non-specific suggestions that may help anyone a little, but have no particular relevance to A.D.D. or dyslexia.

My dyslexic son had no interest in this book or its recommendations. I was also very disappointed. Spend your money on the many other excellent books on learning disorders on Amazon.

Be in Control is Natural and Fun
Jason Alster is a multi-talented author with a specialty in natural treatments for attention and learning differences. In Being in Control, the Alster packs short, yet effective techniques in a forty-page book to help young people in their personal, creative and scholastic lives. The book is engaging visually with colorful photos and illustrations. Being in Control continues seamlessly from one-page topics that cover four basic areas: problem-solving, self-help, hands-on approach (tools to make and use. Fun!), and success in school. Alster has written a shining self-help book for children of all ages, including teens. And since I like books that capture my attention, you could say it would be a good read for adults, too.

The Bell Reef

Authors: Sarita Kendall and Mark Hudson

Average review score:

it was horrible
the author uses apostrophies in place of quotes which gets incredibly annoying after only a little while, and then the book finally gets interesting, and only a few pages after that it leaves you hanging stupidly. this book wasn't even worth reading.

I Could Not Put this Book Down
This is an excellent book. Daniel, born on an island near the reef, never paid much attention to the rumors of ghosts and curses. While snorkeling with a friend, he spots something sparkling under the water. Daniel and Vicky set out treasure hunting. With the help of a trained dolphin they were determined to find the lost treasures and secret behind the Bell Reef Mystery. Read this book!

Disappointing t ext and photography.
The photography was at best "mediocre" and presented nothing that could not be seen in other books on Thailand. The text lacked both depth and understanding of the subject and was stilted.

Excellent
Being a photographer myself, I can only say that this is an excellent book with great photography and good background information on Thailand, Buddha Statues and Buddhism in general. I pull out this book over and over again just to look at it's photographs. They are almost meditation!

Fictional uninformed account of remote Alaskan town.
The title and description of this book suggests that it is about the real remote Alaskan town of Candle. It is not. There is no relationship at all to any real events, and the controversy presented over saving the habitate of ice-spiders from the ravages of snowmobilers is as lame as the characters presented. Pass this one by!

entertaining tall-tale written in the true spirit of...
an insane alaskan bush-woman! i love this book and it is based upon Lilly's experiences in McCarthy and Kennicott, Alaska. Every word rings true and is filled with wit and humor. Definately worth the read. If you can't imagine it, then you won't travel with her. If you don't understand it, then you just haven't been there.

defending a LIE
I buy this book because i ben reading literature that opose catholicism and cristianity in general.so i wanted to read the catholic side of the history . there is a coment on the back of the book that said that any body against catholicism could found his position colapsin in minutes after readin the book but ,i found my position stronger than ever after reading how this karl keaten is tryn to defend a lie .and then after seing how christians are against cristians i know tha there is somethin wrong whit this religion..ah! and the creator's name is YAHWEH...

Clear, concise and beautiful!
This book was one of the first books that lead me on my spiritual journey in Catholicism. Karl Keating explains with clear logic and and excellent use of scripture the fundamental beliefs of the Catholic faith. The book is very well documented and easy to read. I would not only recommend it to those who are outside the Church, but also those who wish to learn more about their faith.

As published in the magazine(FHM May 2001)
The story of Chopper is very frightening and resulted in a massacre.A person can think may be he is insane but he wasn't like that.He did that as to out-jail himself.Actually he is highlly intelligent as he always strategise whatever he intended to do.He is cruel and behaves as a" satanist".I don't know how come he ende up having a wife.

A truly violent and psychopathic man, with a good cause.
I have read all of his books and he continues to astound me with his tales of unspeakable acts of violence and other criminal endeavors. He is truly a fascinating man who i believe is mostly(is the key word)justified in his actions.Adding to this I truly believe that the man is in the unfortunate situation of having the police holding a bias view towards his value to society which is based on past actions.I think that the police where too scared to release the man due to them being scared of him and also if he were to be released the coppers may have to try to stop him,god forbid that
