Fact or Fiction ?
This book reads great like a fictional novel. Why ? Its sources are contradicted by many other books on the subject.

On second thought...
A reader from Bend, Oregon On second thought, after looking more closely at Grossman's work, I see what a marvelous and spectacular book it is. I will recommend it to all my friends as a fantastic source on the Persian Gulf War.

Excellent Handling of the War!
Dr. George Byrnes, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee I am a professor of history, and I can say that this is one of the finest works on the Persian Gulf War I have come across. I read Harry Summers' "Persian Gulf War Encyclopedia," and while I was impressed with its handling of subjects, and giving a broad overview of the conflict, Grossman's war far exceeds Summers and then some. Grossman's work, without me being facetious, is fantastic. His knowledge of the subject, his use of biographical material not found every day, and his cross-references, as well as the major use of documents, graphs, tables, and other ephemera to describe the war and its history is just plain amazing. I was in awe of this work. And any amateur picking it up for the first time, just to get a primer on the subject, will find themselves in awe as well.

Informative but annoying
The book is a quick, easy read and a good introduction to the very basics of auto racing. However, the author's jocular deprecation of the female intellect is unnecessary and surprising in a book written for women of this day and age.

what a gas! this book is a riot !
I've been driving VW's since my teens but I'm thinking about investing in a Dragster after reading this book. So I'm exaggerating a little bit... but it's only because this book was so hysterical. I'm hoping the author has a few more books up her sleeve.

Great read --- if you're a woman --or know one -- its fun.
Didn't know a thing about auto racing nor did I want to . Someone gave this to me as a lark -- I loved it because it was fun and irreverent.

Digital television, DVB-T COFDM and ATSC 8-VSB

Buyer Beware
Although this book has some good explanations, charts and diagrams, the reader should beware that the book has some very serious errors in certain sections (particularly section 5). It would appear that the book was self-published, and probably did not undergo sufficient peer-review. This book should not be used as a primary reference.

Good clear information
A well thought out book. I'm not new to digital TV, and I found the explanations very clear and understandable - although certainly a little biased towards DVB-T rather than 8-VSB. I would say a good book for the beginner wanting to know more about the European standard. I did notice one or two small errors and would advise an errata sheet is included in the future

Verygood
An excellent book with well thought out explanations and diagrams. If you're interested in the technology and standards of digital TV transmission and its decoding this is the book to have. With DVB-T, ATSC, the transport packet format, MPEG-2, modulation, set-top-box architecture, audio standards, and much more explained, the 230 pages are packed with information. Highly recommended to both technical and marketing people involved with digital TV

Tastes horrible...
I've made five of these recipes exactly as specified and they were all inedible. I'm not wasting any more food on these recipes...

One of my favorites
This cookbook is terrific for anyone who likes good, interesting food but has little time to prepare it. Each meal is fresh and healthy. The range of flavors keeps me coming back to try new recipes on a regular basis. Each one inevitably is a "keeper."

Great for those at a loss with meal planning!
This cookbook is a great resource. Most of the recipes I've tested are very flavorful and simple to prepare. The author seems to be fairly health conscious in the selections she put in this book. I also liked how the entire meal is planned for you and the author gives good tips on how to cut time in the kitchen.

It could be better
This book does offer a lot of basics when it comes to theatrical drafting, but there are quite a few mistakes both within the text and in the worksheets given. It would be much better if updated.

A Good Resource
This is a fine text for anyone needing help with establishing assignments for a drafting course (for scene designers). Other than a few typographical errors, this is a great book. I wish it would be revised and updated.

Very good for the beginning drafter
We use this book for my Drafting class at Southwest Missouri State, it is very good. I like the worksheets and projects that are available for further comprehension of the drafting process.

Good premise, but tedious execution
As usual, this Zubro mystery is well plotted. Also as usual, it is rather tediously written. It would seem the author was always instructed to give details, to carefully note the appearance of each character. What he comes up with is a detailed description of apparel for each character, from the top down: hair, shirt, trousers (or skirt), shoes. Colors, patterns, and fabrics are always noted. All very good, if or when these are noteworthy. But usually folks are wearing denim and cotton and etc., and giving these details imparts nothing to the reader.

This is just a warning--I shall probably continue to read Zubro's books. But I only WISH he wrote a bit better!

Zubro at his best
I've read most of Mark Zubro's work, and I think that "Drop Dead" is his best effort yet! A mystery that kept me interested and guessing, good descriptions of places in and around Chicago, likeable hero, and a keen, yet dry sense of humor.

Like snappy dialog? You'll love "Drop Dead"!
"Drop Dead" features deliciously snappy dialog, along with Zubro's realistically drawn characters and well-paced action. In this latest addition to the Paul Turner mystery series, Zubro gets the balance just right. Read it!

Mismatch of metaphysical material with the author¿s slant
After reading books on Bhudism and Toltec wisdom I thought this book would provide precise methods of enhancing my body's energy systems and develop more awareness. In both cases it failed miserably.
The first half of the book covered such disparate topics like the Internet and its influence in world communication, quantum mechanics and the Heisenberg principle, world politics, energy vibrations, and even geophysics. Somehow the author connected them all to some central celestial theme. I can see why many skeptics avoid metaphysics. Essentially, the first half was a culmination of many books with the author's slant.
The second half spent 221 pages describing so called "energy axioms." [...]

A most complete collection of subtle energy information.
Energy Dynamics is the most complete collection of subtle energy information that I have seen gathered in one place. It is written in a way that anyone can understand not just those who are involved with energy work. The reference resources alone make the book of great value and the axioms hit the nail on the head every time. It is at the top of the list of books that I recommend to friends wanting to know more about energy and the dynamics behind it. Thank You! T.R.

A Good Exploration of Subtle Energies. Highly Recommended!
This book tells of the importance of subtle energies, how they manifest changes in our lives, how to spot when we are in balance or out of balance, and what practical steps we can take to increase our energies at spiritual and physiological levels. This material gave me a new perspective on the importance of our body's energy centers and how our physical, mental and spiritual selves are interconnected. Highly Recommended!"

Lists of all things great and small
Although I agree that the authors have produced a list of many aspects of the enterprise system life cycle, the book is no more than that, a list of all these things. It provides no guidelines in choosing among methods, no pro's and cons. The importance of all the mentioned items is given -the why it is important- but the authors provide no insight into how this could be accomplished. There is no indepth analysis of any of the subjects.

So, as an overview this book is good, but do no expect anything more than just that, an overview.

Complete roadmap towards best practices and processes
This book provides a macro view of a comprehensive architecture and then systematically decomposes it into its component parts. The scope of architecture goes well beyond the technical underpinnings by extending to processes and tools. The first section covers an overview of "netcentric" computing and ties it to business imperatives. "Netcentric" within the context is all encompassing and fits within e-business and the older client/server paradigms. Technical components are thoroughly dissected in Section II, and are placed into the framework of processes and services. I especially liked the operations architecture discussed because it is often overlooked. Another excellent chapter in this section covers transition frameworks, which addresses some of the thorniest issues faced by CIOs and operations managers as systems evolve to fit the e-commerce and extended supply chain models that considered contemporary. Section III thoroughly covers designing and implementing solutions, and is, in my opinion, completely on the mark in all respects. The chapter on testing is the best I have ever read - even in books devoted to testing. I had always been frustrated by the ambiguous use of the term "test cycle". The description and approach provided in this book clarified the concept and provided a clear roadmap for a sensible testing process. The final section covers special topics and does so in a thought-provoking manner. Each relatively short chapter compressed a lot of relevant information on the chapter's topic. It was akin to attending focused seminars on security, knowledge management and the other topics covered. This book is a desk reference, consultant's life saver and solid description of an architecture. It can easily serve as the specification document for an IT reengineering project and is nothing short of amazing for its completeness and thoroughness.

Comprehensive, complete and invaluable
This book is an A to Z compendium of how to design, build, deploy and maintain enterprise-wide architectures. As such it is one of those rare books that should be in every architect's and consultant's short list of resources.

The book is divided into four sections. The first two sections lay the groundwork by providing an overview of network-centric computing solutions, then providing the foundation in the form of architectural frameworks. Section two, in particular, is valuable because the frameworks address both application delivery (development)and service delivery factors that need to be taken into account. I like this holistic approach because production support requirements are addressed early on - something that is lacking from many such books.

Section three covers the design and implementation of an architecture in great detail, with a lot of emphasis on testing, release strategy and infrastructure requirements. Section four is devoted to special topics, such as security, knowledge management and collaborative computing, and data mining. Some highlights of this section include information delivery and "componentware". What I liked most about this section was the in-depth treatment of managing costs of a production client/server environment.

This book has reinforced some of my previous ideas and experience, and has opened my eyes to factors that I had not carefully considered on past projects that involved application or service delivery. I like the coherent and comprehensive approach taken in this book for all aspects of enterprise architectures, and applaud the authors for addressing the hard part: production support of solutions. This book will travel with me to every engagement and will be the first general purpose reference to which I will turn for ideas and methods. If you are a consultant or practitioner in architecture, applications delivery or service delivery this book will be a valuable addition to your library and bag of tricks.

if only you had a half star rating...
As a professional with over 25 years in the building trades, i found this short of its billing as being concerned with the design-build approach. I do not know if the author has had any experience in an actual design build process at a significant scale because it seems to me, the author of the essay tried to mask her inexperience with superfluous vocabulary which only reinforces the gap between the view of academics and the professionals who have knowledge through craft. If the wish was to link the trades with the profession of architecture in this text, then it failed.

It did offer some good photography of some airstream trailers, if only more of these were used on site as construction offices.

Design-Build Architecture Got Never This Funky
Steve Badanes came to our school at the beginning of this year, 2003, and gave a lecture on their work. Their work is quite impressive, to begin with. Three unlicensed architects - including Badanes - leave Princeton and go on their own adventure. All they have is a mailbox, and nothing else. Badanes has a trailer, which he drives to the sites and sleeps in meanwhile. Jersey Devil do their design in the site, and build as they design, design as they build. Therefore, their structures become very integrated with the surroundings.

Jersey Devil name their projects with the objects that resemble the building's shape. 'Football House', 'Hoagie House' are among these. When you flip through the pages, you'll see that the 'Aeroplane House' actually looks like an aeroplane.

Their architecture is definitely worthwhile to know about. But, the book is not necessarily as good as their architecture. It does not include a comprehensive review of their projects. Some projects are mentioned only one page with two photos. The introduction, and the general writing is well done. However, as I've said, their specific projects could have been dealt in more detail. I've listened to Badanes in his lecture, and read the book as well. But, the lecture was far more engrossing and interesting.

Nevertheless, for everyone who wants to know about Jersey Devil architecture, this book is the only source to absorb. Purchase it, but do not expect full satisfaction, as the book lacks a lot of details related to projects.
