My wife purchased this book and suggested I read a few of the stories, and I was pleasantly surprised. Pritchard manages to not only make erotica more literary but also to push boundaries without seeming to just push the pure shock method. So often anything even slightly out of the ordinary comes across as nothing but an attempt to shock you and leave it at that. Sometimes he titillates. Sometimes he shocks. But never does he leave it at that. The stories have substance and extend beyond some initial sense of shock. He writes believable characters and writes with intelligence. That is perhaps the sexiest element of his writing.

Reading this book brings gut reactions - titillation, shock, excitment. The author's
elegant, spare prose makes the characters vividly alive and
believable. Each story is different, it's like walking
into various rooms in a building where each room holds
a naughty surprise. Each story leaves one thinking "and what next???".
You won't be disappointed.

I finished reading Too Beautiful yesterday, and I can only amplify my initial praise for this smart, sexed up, totally wrong book. Delicious. Transgressive. Hot. Pritchard's stories never settle into either of the predominant camps of dirty books, on the one hand "Letters to Penthouse" frat-boy fantasies, or the limp erotica of the "gossamer-and-moonbeams" school on the other. (Though Pritchard evidently started out writing youthful imitations of the latter variety, including a story involving blueberries, described with charming self-deprecation in the Afterword.) Favorite stories are "Pretend," an extended D/s fantasy, "Too Beautiful," in which an aggressive narrator finds himself subtly dominated (and loving it!) and "Lizza," a feverish, hallucinatory chronicle of incestuous siblings whose appetites for transgression lead them from ferocious copulation to a violent crime spree. The collection isn't just porn, though -- the stories stand up (beautifully) to comparisons with more straight-laced contemporary short prose fiction. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad. Sometimes both at once. And always filthy.

I spend a lot of time training in the martial arts, and am always on the lookout for information (books, articles, advice) that will help me get the most out of every workout. Sometimes it's hard to keep the right mental attitude and keep your training moving in the right direction. In Train Tough, author Mark Bender definitely kicks your butt into gear and gets you motivated to challenge yourself, overcome counterproductive attitudes, and truly see what you can do in your athletic pursuits. He trained 10,000+ soldiers for Operation Desert Storm--so I think he's amply qualified to get the rest of us off the couch and out of our less-than-effective training ruts. For residents who often are in a quandary regarding routine followup and rehabilitation goals with regards to patients, this paperback proves invaluable. Chief residents who often run clinics will find this as an excellent tool for evaluating the progress of their patients postop. Another excellent text with self explanatory illustrations and photographs.

I was initially reserved in my approach to the book 'cos I thought it would be boring and would contain too much theology.
I was proven wrong. I could see the interplay of man and God in shaping our history and now fully understand that indeed "He works all things after the counsel of his own will". I was taken with the literary style that I could not put it down desiring to find out what would happen next to Luther. It is awesome to know that Omniscience wields Omnipotence to achieve the counsel of the Omnipresent God.

I have read this book under separate title, and D'Aubigne presents in it a wonderful picture of Luther the man, from the perspective of an author who knows Luther's Lord. Much more readable than Bainton's work, and with a touch of the older style of writing that has now been lost.

This is a very good book about Martin Luther. Before I read this book, I did not know what he wrote his theses about, but now I know he wrote it to condemn the evil sale of indulgences.

There are lots of books that do their best to guide you toward successful sailing but they never tell the whole picture. They all leave something out so you have to buy several books to get all that you need. This is the best and most complete single book on what it takes to do practical sailing, specializing in the tropics. Everything to think about... food and it's preservation,repairs to the boat, weather(cyclones) and forcasting, tropical diseases and how to stay healthy, and my favorite- pirates..how to stay away from them and be safe...of course much more. It's highly readable,too. If there was a fault I guess would have to say I wish there was more story telling of the author's experiences in his 25 year cruising time.But this book can't be beat for practical teaching and price. So I guess I read stories another time.

I have been a "wannabe" tropical cruiser for several years. I have read several 'cruising guides' and many magazine articles, but when I do go this is the one that will be on board. It is all there, well presented and in language we all understand. A gold-mine of solid, practical information, excellent value.

I am not a person who is easily impressed, but having recently received and read "Tropical Cruising Handbook" by Mark Smaalders and Kim des Rochers I felt the need to write and congratulate the authors on producing a truly excellent book. The book is a superb and comprehensive guide to all that you need to know to make your tropical cruise a rewarding and safe experience. In particular, I was very impressed with the authors' sensitivity to the cultures and people of the tropics.

This book has reinforced my desire to sail the tropics.

I can't wait to cast off and set sail.

Mark's first effort is superb. Wonderfully developed characters for whom your really care... set with the exciting backdrop of true events and people in aviation history. I am also an airline pilot, and had a hard time putting this one down... An absolute must read for any aviation enthusiast - or for that matter anyone who enjoys a truly entertaining tale! I look forward to his next book.

A page-turner with more plot twists and bumps than the taxiways at Newark! Non-stop action and adventure set in early 1930s. The author has created a solid and true American hero -- a former Ace Pilot from World War I who has great wit, charm and good looks -- and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth in an accident investigation. Great characters: from lovely warm friends to evil nemesis and sexy love interests.

I learned a bit along the way too about what it would've been like to fly in those days.

Fast and fun like a John Grisham book, but with more character development.

First time out author Mark J. Harrison has a winner in this riveting drama about a plane crash and a Government cover up. Fabulous read. Romance, intrigue, it has everything. Would like to see this made into a movie. All the characters are so real and the ending is superb.

I bought this book because I was familiar with the authors (I had read their books Die Broke and Live Rich which helped me very much). In the first part of the book, They explain the six step-approach to solve financial problems.I was really looking for a book like this one. We face many kinds of money problems every day. In the past I bought books about logical decision making and none is more useful and well thought than this one. Parts 2,3,4,and 5 give examples on how to use the method. I recommend to read these parts; they can be consulted in the future if are not needed at this time. Also by reading them, the whole concept is better understood and practically the six steps are memorized. Please do not think that you need to behave robot-like and use the entire six steps every time you face a problem. In my opinion,this book teaches that We need to approach every financial problem as much rationally as We can.And The more We try to do it the better We are going to become at it.

The book gives you straight answers on how to face challenges, financial and otherwise, that come your way in life: on the job and at home. I liked the examples the authors used; they were vivid and real. Bottom line is solve the problems you face and take responsibility for your actions.

Recommend this book in conjunction with another book on self direction and leadership I use called: "The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills."

Captures very well a particular time and place. The central character, Twylla, has an appealing sweetness, an innocence, just right for the time. She is all the more compelling when corruption and violence erupt around her. Twylla is a fast, fun read.

I cried for this young girl. I think she showed a lot of courage to finally face the ghosts of her past. And I loved the ending. Although the story centers around a mystery, with a fair amount of violence, the book is really about people and making the good choices in life. I recommend Twylla to anyone who wants an unforgettable trip in to the real world of both joy and pain.

As well-conceived mystery thrillers go, this one has terrific character mosaics and a bittersweet if not surreal romance going for it. I see this girl as your typical high school sweetheart trying to run from her past only to get swarmed by really evil people trying to do her in. She brings out the hero in all us home-boys.

This book had informative chapters about how a racer is cared for, Adopting an ex-racer, bringing it home, socializing and training. It also had a a-z common health problem guide in the back. definitely one of the better Greyhound books

I found this book to be a wellspring of information covering some of the greyhounds humble beginnings through its racing career. It gives in deapth views of the life of the racing Greyhound in not only the US, but in Ireland, the UK and Australia; the similarities and differences between them. It talks about bringing your new adoptee home and some of the common medical issues you may have to deal with. Lots of color photos. The Ultimate Greyhound is an Ultimate source of info. Definately 5 stars.
