Critical Issues in Operating Room Management
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (June, 1997)
Author: Mark A. Malangoni
Amazon base price: $76.00
Used price: $84.00
Average review score:

An essential source of wisdom and guidance
Dr. Malangoni has put together an excellent resource to be used by both surgeons and administrators. His collection of experts and topics has cemented this work's place on the shelves of every surgeon's office. What sets this reference apart from others is its throughness and completeness in considering not only a surgeon's consideration in operating room management, but the views and imputs of others surrounding the field. (Including the lawyers) This book is a must-read to ensure a well managed facility run by a well-rounded department.

I Crossed The Border From Gringolandia and Now Speak Spanish
Cross the Border is great. It's fast, it's easy, and it works.
You don't need the book to follow the CD because it has everything on it. The book is great practice, full of stories,
illustrations, etc ...
I especially like sounding like I've studied Spanish for ten
years instead of ten days.

A lesson in the nature of spirituality
Mark Barrett's Crossing: Reclaiming The Landscape Of Our Lives is a powerful treastis written especially for those who believe in God, yet struggle to understand the sad Mysteries that chronically perplex humanity. A moving, personal testimony of the author's experiences, wisdom, and faith, Crossing is a lesson in the nature of spirituality and a most thought-provoking read which is confidently recommended for Christians of all denominational backgrounds.

Another 5-Star Story
Collecting issues #7 - #12 of the on-going series Crux book 2 is even better than book 1. One of the reasons I've grown to love this series so much is that each character has a distinct personality and that aspect comes across very well.

The scene where the Atlantean group reveal one of their story-telling rituals was a great touch by Waid, et. al. Not only did it reveal something of the culture of Atlantis but gives added clues to each character's personality and the way they view their current situation - fighting for their survival against a foe they can neither understand nor communicate with. The question of what happened to species homo sapiens, while answered somewhat is only partially so. Those that are answered lead to yet more mysteries. Moral and ethical questions are also raised. If you could go back in time would you try to avert a disaster if you could? Would you still do so knowing that while you might save some people it would mean a much greater number would suffer and possibly die in the future that would not have done so before? These are only some of the dilemmas confronting the Atlanteans. And it is very interesting to see that the mysterious stranger is not the over-arching god-like being book 1 at first implies. Even he is surprised when some things do not turn out quite as he planned.

Crux is a scifi/fantasy fan's tale and highly recommended - particularly for people who enjoy character-driven stories. I also recommend Crossgen's other trade Negation v. 1 to learn more about the antagonists the Atlanteans struggle against (not to mention Negation has one of THE coolest, most charismatic Bad Guys ever seen in any comic series - Charon, the God-Emperor of the Negation Universe).

The Cuban Revolution and the United States: A History in Documents, 1958-1960
Published in Hardcover by U.S. Cuba Press (06 December, 2001)
Authors: Mark Falcoff and United States Dept. of State
Amazon base price: $32.00

falcoff not far off!
This book dispels many of the myths put forth by our Liberal-Left Media(eg> NY Times, WASH Post, CBS, CNN, etc.) Chief among them is that USA was propping up the Battista regime, documents prove that USA wanted Battista gone as much as the Cuban people did. Another myth, that the USA [sic] "drove" Castro into the Soviet orbit. Falcoff shows this to be media myth-making of the highest order. If you're not skeptical of the Left-Wing media after reading this book, you ought to enroll in logic classes at your local Community College!!!

Cubs Collection
Great book that looks at all the key players individualy with some biographic material and briefs on the the important accomplisments and great stats of each player in Chicago Cubs history. With awesome individual photography from the early 1906-1908 team when the Cubs were considered winners.. Three Fingers Brown (a great shot of what his hand actually looked like) Tinkers, Evers & Chance, Solly Hofman.. and many more. Has pictures of the great ones that got away. Lou Brock, Joe Carter, Rafael Palmeiro... to some of the present greats Kerry Wood Sammy Sosa. You will not look at this book and think what about this player because he covers every memorable player with a few that you may have forgotten as a bonus. There are over 200 pictures and the book is well made Glossy pages and Hardcover.

To Renaissance Italy and back
An Atlas can have many functions. A simple tool to find where some place is. A tool to go to that place. Or a tool to dream about that place, the real reason why some people actually do read atlases. Equally an art book can educate you, or make you try to go and see this art. Here we have a very happy combination of a good historical atlas with plenty of well chosen art illustration from Renaissance Italy. And architecture, urban design and all sorts of creative endeavors of these times. The result is superb as you can embark again and again to the places where so much of our present world comes from. Or you can use it as a particularly pleasant reference book.
