I read this book in 10 minutes and passed it along to a friend. It's completely accurate and highly readable, but WOW, is it simple. You feel like coloring in it. It's one tip per page - literally.

WWII has always fascinated me. I generally prefer war novels like THE NAKED AND THE DEAD or THE TRIUMPH AND THE GLORY to histories, but the better written nonfiction books are well worth reading. I though Bando's "The 101st Airborne at Normandy" was terrific, very informative, especially about the courage and initiative of the paratroops themselves to salvage the situation after the scattered drops of the night. Very good book!

This book is interesting and informative for children of all ages. I had forgotten how much fun it is to lose yourself in a time period through beautiful illustrations and facts that let your imagination leap into the pages. Parents will love explaining the lively pictures to their children.

I took up Stiles' "17 Things" (with its Lego-decorated cover) right after reading Gregg Braden's "Walking Between The Worlds: The Science of Compassion" (which sports a lotus mantra, as art, and a quotation from the Dead Sea Scrolls on its cover). Only a Baptist preacher's kid who converted to Anglicanism, as I have, might choose to finish and compare two such works. But if you haven't achieved the Peace that Passes Understanding, it might prove itself a worthwhile armchair journey for you. Stiles, a former campus chaplain, uses 17 chapters to share the spiritual lessons he's learning while creating a Christian family with his wife and three sons. Each of these stories illustrates, often tenderly, an Essene Mirror of Compassion as Braden outlines them: Isaac, age five, acts to save-the-day when his older brother is pained after being excluded from a party (Mirror 1: reading the needs of the moment); Tristan asks why God doesn't show himself, but then takes comfort in recalling his dad's finding him when he was lost (Mirror 5: seeing the essence of God reflected in our parents & Mirror 3: the lessons of lost innocence). Conspicuous typos serve to specify two of Stiles' subjects. On page 44 there's one in a sentence that concludes, "so don't have sex with someone you're not married to." On page 51, Stiles meets the Adversary, and his sentence, "That's when Satan meet [sic] me," comes just before, "My son was dying, my thinking was jumbled." As with Braden's, this book is for those readying, or prepared, to "take up" the disciplines of Christian (or Essential) living. It is full of compassion (and laced with judgment based upon experience).

This comprehensive (and hefty!) volume provides up-to-date statistics for cities, counties, states, and congressional districts nationwide. Drawing on numerous studies by different organizations, the book is a well-indexed guide to any localized social scientific study. An excellent resource for starting one's research, its only weak poins are the small print and ever-so-slightly cumbersome charts.

The Finger Lakes region is a wonderful area to explore by bicycle! Blue, deep lakes; green, cool forests; and red, brick towns like Cornell, contribute to the anticipation of turning a corner, or cresting a hill. For first time visitors, Sally Walter's and Mark Roth's book is like having a local take you on the ride, pointing out a waterfall, a place to stop for lunch, or which hill is a killer and worth the climb. It's like seeing the area for the first time, the colors, smells, impressions, with a tour guide in your back pocket. The book gives clear directions and mileages. Good advice on route choices. And this updated version has the local eateries and bikeshops categorized. It easy to string several of the suggested rides together for a longer tour. Or, pick one with a bail out for the less mileage inclined. While we did not do all the rides in the book, the one's we did do were just as described. Use the book if you are planning a trip to the Finger Lakes, even if you don't take your bike.

When a child loses someone close to her, she has a hard time saying goodbye. In this book, the main charcter loses her dog, Abby. She has a hard time saying goodbye to her beloved friend and companion. This is an excellent book to use to teach children, adolescents, and adults about death and dying- as well as the grieving process. By reading "Abby," one is able to better understand the normal process we as humans go through when someone we love dies.

This is quite possibly the most eloquently written book filled with a multitude of facts. I used this as a reference for a thesis paper, and it was a tremendous help. I advise anyone even remotely concerned with abortion to get this book. You wont regret it!

Now I need to collect research papers about text summarization. It is happy to find the book including papers about text summarzation. I wish this book describes the techniques of text summarization rather than an collection of research papers.
