An Excellent Graphic Novel!
I just recently bought and read Xena:WP "Slave" Graphic novel and I was very pleased with it. The artwork was fantastic and the story was absolutely well done. It was interesting for them to involve Cleopatra in this paticular storyline. I think that the Xena books help fill the void when they show repeats of episodes on TV, you can read a totally all new Xena adventure in Novels and graphic novels. I highly recommend this Graphic Novel and the very First Graphic Novel "The Warrior Way Of Death" To any Die Hard Xena Fan.

Back in print like the classics they are
It took a little while but Mark Schultz has hooked up with Dark Horse Comics to re-release his collection of Xenozoic Tales stories, previously published under the former comic company Kitchen Sink (a victim of the lousy distributer wars back in the mid-nineties).It makes sense that these gorgeous and engaging stories would see print again. Sporting new cover art that tells of the obvious maturity of Mark Schultz' new artistic sensibilities rounding out a beautiful package and a very affordable opportunity for people to see what they missed the first time around. The readers will watch the stories and the art change from one story to the next as Mark hones his skills which were very good to begin with. The Xenozoic age is a time after a great cataclysm drove all the humans from the surface of the Earth to hide in the very bowels of the transforming world in order to survive the trauma that was rewriting the history of Earth. Upon stepping back on to the surface of their world several hundred years later the humans discover that all the ages of the natural history of the world had merged into one. An age of dinosaurs, mammoths and men where survival was once again difficult but not impossible. In this age there are men like Jack Tenric and women like Hannah Dundee. Two sides of the same coin. Jack is a shaman who believes in the rules of the earth, the Machina Vitae. This rule dictates a balance with nature is the only way to live. No exploitation of resources and an understanding that humans must respect their world or risk another devestating global cataclysm. Dundee is a scientist and has political ties to a village, Wasoon, and her people send her act as embassador to the City by the Sea, the home of Jack Tenric's tribe. Hannah and Jack are a most unlikely pair but eventually they start to work together to forge a better future for their people and their world. These tales are a wonderful mix of high adventure and political intrigue with healthy doses of science fiction, mystery and horror elements woven into the stories. Good character driven plots keep the pace crisp and the art is among the best the comic and illustration genres have to offer, and Mark Schultz provides it all. Dinosaurs and Cadillacs are featured side by side in this wonderfully vital world of poachers, politicians and struggling pioneers. There is a second volume due out next month. Get them both and see why these stories had to come back into print.

Pulp revitalized
Having grown up reading Edgar Rice Burroughs, Max Brand, and H.P.Lovecraft,this book had me going back to the bookcase to reread some old favorites. Mr. Finn's style evokes the memory of these great writers while bringing the genre into the 21st century. The lead character, Sam Bowen, brings the excitement of John Carter, Tarzan, and James Bond into a fictional setting of San Cibola in search of an old family curse which has decimated his family. This fun blend of not so suave action hero and all phases of the unknown/unseen world of mystecism, set in the back drop of China Town pulls the reader along. A real page turner. The story is written in a serialized format much as the old pulps were. Makes me wish this were published weekly.

Just a great mystery - brings Hawaii closer to home
This is just a good old fashioned mystery novel that grabs the reader in the first two pages. It is truly a wonder that more people have not found Mr. Brown's books. If you have traveled to the islands and long for the Pacific, palms swaying in the breeze, beautiful sunsets and Far East intrigue, read Yellowfin.

Comprehensive guide by a real pro
I've used earlier versions of this trail guide for years as I've explored Yellowstone's backcountry. It is comprehensive and full of very useful information. Explore this guide before your trip so you can pick hikes matched to your abilities, goals and available time. Also read and heed the author's discussion of the dangers of Yellowstone's backcountry.

Mark Marschall is a ranger and medic with years of experience in Yellowstone. Note: I owe Mr. Marschall thanks, as he is the medic who responded and treated me when I was struck by lightning in Yellowstone on August 1, 2000.

Salem the talking Cat does it again
It all started when Sabrina put a spell on her history book. Salem accidentally jumped into it, and now he keeps popping up in one historic scene after another. Everywhere he goes, he meets famous people like George Washington and Harriet Tubman. And they all need his help! The only way Salem will ever get out of the history book is to come up with the answers these famous folks need...and that means remembering what really happened. Salem had better be careful with his advice, or he'll be stuck in history...forever!

Straight Talk about Your Skin
Can a book about your skin be elegant? I think this one is, not because of gorgeous or flashy graphics, but because it is easy to read and reference, thorough without being overly technical, and full of straightforward information about our skin. If you are looking for information about skin care that cuts through the sales pitches and pseudo-science we're bombarded with in magazines, on TV, and at the cosmetic counters, this is the book to get.

Is laser surgery the solution for you? Dr. Irwin will help answer that question and tell you what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. How can you shrink your pores? Despite what the label may say on that pricey potion you bought, Dr. Irwin will tell it like it is -- you can't. But she'll let you down easy, telling you what you can do to at least make them look smaller.

I swear anyone following Dr. Irwin's advice will save money on their everyday skin care routines. For one thing, you'll probably learn you need about half as many separate lotions and potions as you currently use. Also, she'll tell you which drugstore cleansers and creams work just as well -- and even better -- than the expensive ones.

Written by a woman doctor who understands our desire to look our best, this book is warm, practical, and intersting to boot. (Did you know there is a gene for blushing?) Definitely a great buy.

Your Guide to Standardized Herbal Products
This book is an excellent resource for non medical people who are interested in using herbs. Although it does not discuss many herbs, it is very thorough with the ones that are covered.

Side effects are addressed in every case.

All of the herbs in this book have been studied and tested and are known to have some medical effectiveness. There is a matrix of the herbs in the books and various medical conditions that is very useful.

I have a nice little library of herb books and this is the one I always check first.

Natural Remedies for Menopause Made Ease
What an awesome book! The Stengler's make it so easy to find a plan that covers diet, homeopathy and exercise tailored just for me. I have found the book very easy to understand and have begun implementing many of their strategies. I DO NOT want to use HRT and I can already begin to see the positive outcomes of natural therapy (especially hot flashes and depression).
