Marvelous. Compelling. Funny. (How rare to review a new work by Mark Twain!) This book is rare, old scotch with just enough ice. It's a fine, black Connecticut cigar. It's a wide tie with a brave picture on it. It's a moonlit sail on the seas of time, and the distant rasping, drawling voice of God, winking at the human race through his prophet Samuel. Get it. Read it a little at a time. Hope like hell somebody finds some more papers out there in California that nobody has had the chance at, and that the small minded are at lunch and the office boy leaves them in the outbox and they, too, come to print while yet we live. No one can possibly get past the mythic Mark Twain to a deeper understanding of the great writer and his later passions without a thorough reading of the Eden stories, and an enjoyment of his darker humor. As an anthology, this book is a delight. But this work includes previously unpublished writings, and so it must be in any Twain lover's library. The author of this book is Clemens himself. The editors have, with appropriate reverence and irreverence, expanded the horizons of our understanding. Hoorays and war-whoops all round.

Theological truths are approached in a simple question/answer format -which is very clear, short, simple and understandable to all. This, in itself, is no small accomplishment. All answers are Bible based, from the Protestant precpective, allowing the Bible to speak for itself. The book design: paper, graphics, and layout is of very high quality. For its brevity and size this book packs a powerful punch. I very highly recommend it for any age group, for both Christians and truth seekers alike.

I rejoice to see this definitive work celebrating the small, choice output of the Catholic diabolist and neglected genius, Enoch Soames. I was among the nervous crowd who met Soames at the British Museum (now British Library) on June 3, 1997, a memorable day in my life and his. The authors of the present bibliography have scrupled to identify and describe the many works devoted to Soames' life, thought, and creative spirit. They have achieved their goal triumphantly. Even from the vantage of his present niche, Soames, I fancy, will know he does not suffer the neglect in public esteem that he had feared. As Soames' so cannily had prophesied in FUNGOID's Nocturne, he now at last might truly drink of "black wine" and move "Round and round the shutter'd Square" to no sound but hoof scrape and the "ring of laughter."

Wow! Too bad this book is out of stock. When I was in college, many of my colleagues read this. I wished I had before joining a Big Six firm. The book provides insight into the cultures, the mergers of Big Six firms, and the dynamics that goes on. A must read for those in Big Six, those considering working for the Big Six (now Big Five, I think) and those working with them.
