Excellent Resource for a Beginning Corporate/Legal Secretary
As an office manager, I found this handbook useful in training a receptionist with no law office experience. This handbook consists of seven parts. The most beneficial aspects of this handbook are Parts I-III, "General Information about Law," "Legal Vocabulary" and "Principles of Legal Office Management." These sections pack a lot of useful information into 82 pages. Parts IV and V, "Courtroom Procedures" and "Legal Opinions, Testimony, Trial by Jury," were not much help inasmuch as most legal secretaries do not accompany the attorney to trial, nor do they attend depositions. If working as a legal secretary for a "corporate attorney," one may find Part VI, "Business Law Concepts," to be an excellent resource for detailed explanations of terminology and business law concepts. Finally, Part VII, "Legal Documents," would again be an excellent resource for the corporate legal secretary. As far as providing guidelines for other types of legal documents, this section is severely lacking. For instance, there are no samples of transmittal letters, deposition notices, discovery requests, etc. -- the types of documents one would train a beginning legal secretary to compose. Nonetheless, Parts I-III made this handbook worth the purchase price.

Rome's close call with the might of Carthage
The title is essentially two books in one. The first 'Armies of the Carthaginian Wars' is a traditional Osprey Military Library treatment of the subject in a 'Men of Arms' style. (approx. 50 pages) While the 2nd book 'Hannibal's Wars' is in Osprey's 'Campaign' style (approx. 100 pages) and is a much more comprehensive and critical examination of the arms, and armour of the two opposing forces as well as a detailed look of the issues at stake. The colour illustrations are excellent as always. The colour plates arranged together in the 1st book, while interspersed, in the 2nd. There are numerous B/W photographs of primary evidence such as coins, funerary art and sculpture. Inevitably, because these 2 books were written separately and fused together for this compilation, there is no inter-reference, some subjects are covered twice and there is some disagreement. One criticism from a purely academic point of view is the use of primary classical sources. Instead of just 'Polybius says...' I would have preferred a footnote at least referencing the chapter or section this view could be found in a standard translation of the text. The two 'books' have to be read in conjunction to get the most of the whole. For example the wonderful painting of the Roman Tribune (found in the 1st book) is stated to be based on a figure found on a certain altar. It is not until you get to the 2nd book, where this original altar figure is reproduced, can you judge for yourself the accuracy of the painting. On the whole a worthy compilation - an easy read and style and taken together the two books provide an excellent overview of the 2nd Punic War and its effects.

Excellent novel
Having worked as a journalist, albeit sports writer, this was an interesting novel about a down and almost out news-paper reporter who has a well-known secret and needs to absolve himself of.

Great break-neck pace, smooth plot, likeable characters, and a great narrative equal a nice little yarn of a read.

If u like novels that aren't wordy or too deep, this will fit the bill very nicely. This is a first novel that shows at times but it more than makes up for it.

If u have ever worked at a news-paper or want to know the inner workings of one, this is a MUST READ!!!

Hello to Barney
I purchased this book a while ago just because of my interest in parrots - it is a nicely illustrated story about a young boy who grows up in Australia owning a cockatoo - the story follows him until he is an old man. A very nice little tale, and good for young children.

Decent Guide but Somewhat Lacking in Depth
The first Hellsing: Ultimate Fan Guide covers the first six episodes of the bloody-good vampire anime Hellsing. The guide includes a fair amount of artwork--some promotional art and some scans lifted from the videos--and descriptions of each of the episodes, plus character bits and items on various aspects of the world in which the series is set.

The episode summaries are okay if a bit thin; I suggest simply watching the anime itself. Overall, fans of the series probably already know everything in the book, but it's still a neat accompanyment if only as a book filled with visuals and concept drawings from the series. Roleplayers may find the bit at the end for incorporating the characters and world into the BESM game system useful as well.

Henry Explores the Mountians ~ Mark Taylor
This is a very adventurous book. It shows how little kids can prove themselves responsible. It shows how young children, know ho to act in scary situations. Some people have to learn that young children can be trusted, but they should be able to prove themsleves first. Sometimes young kids just want to grow up, so they wanbt to explore and learn how to do things for themselves.

I like the character Henry in this book. When Henry and his dog sent out on a journey to explore the mountians, they do not know what to expect. They have a good time exploring and take extra precautions. They meet some friendly and unfriendly characters, yet they know how to handle the situations. Henry takes controll of the bad situation and turns it into a learning experience. This book teaches a lot about how to act when on a journey. It also shows how kids get regconized for the good deeds they do.
