A keystone book to any library
You are not a pharmacist until you read this book. Nor are you a doctor, lawyer or Indian chief. Every historian, military expert, and anyone with intellectual curiosity will feel compelled to read it.

Those who have read Ayn Rand, George Orwell and Plutarch will include this tome as a lifetime "must read".

Sadly, it is currently out of print.

A most facinating case study of international Business
I first picked up this book in the bargain bin at my college bookstore for only $1.00. It is probably the most interesting non-fiction book I have ever read. Even though it concentrates on the trials and tribulations of aspirin, it gives an interesting picture of over-the-counter drug marketing and promotion during the 20th century. The book is well researched, with liberal footnotes.

The main storyline for the book is about the story of Farbenfabriken Bayer (later IG Farben and Bayer AG) and Sterling Drug, the US owners of the Bayer name (they bought it during an auction of German properties during WWI) It well documents the battle between the two owners of the Bayer name for the Bayer tradmark; a battle that lasted well over 60 years.

One unexpected part of the book was the chapter regarding drug marketing in Latin America. The techniques used there in the mid-20th century closely resemble the patent medicine hucksters in America in the late 1800's.

About the last fourth of the book is dedicated to the recent surge in discoveries of aspirin's use for heart-attacks, stroke, and other clotting related disorders. This is probably the most dry part of the book, but it is still pretty good.

In conclusion this is an excellent book for anyone interested in the history of the drug industry or mass marketing.

Excellent Window
Certain essays from this book were requirements for an international relations class I took. After reading two of the stories I had to read the entire book. It is a truely excellent window into the effects of the atomic bomb on humans. It took me below the mushroom cloud, it was graphic, gripping, and effective. It does not focus on justifications for the bomb, it focuses purely on the effects. I plan on buying it in the near future because it is such an excellent testimonial.

greatly educational
I reviewed that te book was a great review of how terrible the devigstation was. Had great detail

Autumn shares a nickel
I had been looking for a book for my daughter Autumn, that was about a girl with the same name. I am so delighted with this book. Not only for the name but also for the great lesson of sharing. It made my 5 year old understand that if she happily gives, it will in turn make others happy. My daughter wasn't very happy with the illustrations when we first got it because they are in black & white. But after reading it just one time she fell in live with it and now shows her book to everyone!!!

Very positive and inspirational
As a teacher of young children, I really enjoyed this book because it sends a positive message to young and old alike. The message about sharing and consideration for others is just what we need in todays times. I heartily endorse this little book and know if you read it, you WILL like it!!

A unique, must read book for role playing fans.
I still remember reading this book back when I was a kid. I must have read it a dozen times and each time it was a different experience. I have never read anything like it. Truely a classic for young adults and for fans of the art of Ninjitsu.

Fascinating, intensely absorbing entertainment.
I read "The Way of the Tiger" series as a kid... it was one of the most exciting, unbelievably inspiring and moving (!) reading experiences I have had, then or now... and I'm comparing to stuff such as the works of Victor Hugo, Ayn Rand etc.

An important treatise for clinicians and psychologists.
This survey of the psychotherapy of unusual states focuses on panic as a life experience, reviewing its symptoms, causes, and providing insights into how patients cope with anxiety. Chapters will appeal to clinicians and psychologists, providing keys to therapy and models for understanding anxiety states.

Interesting and groundbreaking!
Who knew that fear could affect people's lives in so many different ways? This book deals with nervous breakdowns; anxiety- and fear-related illnesses; even the ways that fear affects creative people, most notably Edvard Munch. It's definitely an eye-opener, and a page-turner as well. And it's got a great cover.

AYE-KOO, Ms. Smith
Although I have yet to purchase this book, from what I have read on the web site, it is sure to be a bestseller! It contains so much information for all types of planning/festivities/celebrations. I wish I had this book 18 months ago when I was planning my Jumpin' the Broom celebration for August 99. Ms. Smith is a very beautiful, classy black woman. She has much grace and style about her. I have seen her show and I just love it. She dosen't leave any stone unturned. Watch out ESSENCE!

B. Smith is wonderful. This is a great book!
I just love B. Smith. She does everything with such style. This cookbook is full of great recipes and wonderful information. I watch her TV show and her personality is so warm and positive. This comes through in this book and in her new magazine B. SMITH STYLE which I just bought also.

Her Favorite Book!!!
My 3 year old daughter loves this book. The pictures are wonderful, much more interesting to her than most children's book illustrations, and the text is great, too. She has several hundred books and loves many. Every night, she gets to pick 3 stories to have read before she sleeps. This is the first time that she wanted me to read one story 3 times. Get it. Now.

Banana-Tail review - Great Book!
The illustrations in the book are spectacular! Coupled with a comical/adventurous story line and adorable characters and you got a real winner. My 10 year old love it as well as my 3 year old nephew!

Barney is always a winner!
My 3 1/2 year old son loves this book and tape. He likes to read along with the tape or sometimes just listen to the tape. It's great for long car rides!

My son loves this bood
This has been a great first read along for my son. It is very easy for him to pull the cassette out and turn it over in his own tape player. Barney tells him exactly what to do and the book is repeated on the reverse side with no rewinding or fast forwarding needed which is hard for him (he is 2 1/2). He likes to sing along with the ABC song at the beginning and it is easy for him to know that he is on the right page because he knows his letters. The story is cute too.

Excellent reference -- helps build a love of baseball
I use this book extensively with my Little League team to help the kids learn about the game. I give each player a "homework" assignment to learn about players who wore their number. This is great for connecting to the history of the game.

Great stuff!
I have always wondered about the numbers. It's really cool to know, and this knowledge has enriched my enjoyment of the game. This book makes a great reference, if you can keep your friends from taking it home with them.
