"Valuable guidance on the ¿people issues' of M&A"
This is a very unique book that's filled with a lot of useful information. It's a combination how-to guide and research report. The research section shows the broadening role (thankfully!) of HR professionals in M&A planning and implementation. But it's not just statistics. The authors offer insightful observations on the research findings - and provide guidance in each key area of the national study. The most valuable part of the book is the section on M&A skills needed by HR professionals. Tremendously helpful. I actually bought two copies of this book. One for me, and the other for our Corporate Development Officer, who sometimes forgets how important the "people issues" really are in M&A!

This book truly Empowers HR!
Having just attended the Indiana SHRM Conference and attending one of the author's workshops, I was eager to get my hands on this book. It's everything I was looking for and is an ideal primer for human resources professionals with little M&A experience. This book reinforces the message that HR needs to be involved in M&A early and often, and then shows how. We have a difficult road ahead of us to stake our seat at the strategy table. These authors lay out a road map to get us there. There is a lengthy survey and surprising results ...I won't spoil the answers... and what I appreciated was the guidance and recommendations after each finding. Some may find the results too detailed. I think that is one of the strengths of the book. Other books on this topic either talk around the subject or are purley inspirational. But this book is to the point and instructive. Someone needs to be out there fighting for HR's rightful place in an acquisition -- this book clearly does.

Road map to HR success!
Talk about career path...this book made it possible for me to take HR into the heart of the acquisition process. No longer the "boys club" of the past, the acquisition team must include the wisdom of the people side of the deal. The authors hit that head on...and prove it with the results of their survey. I applaud them for having the guts to do what NO OTHER BOOK has yet to provide - the action steps HR needs to take to think more strategically, become part of the process, and execute the vision. Most other M&A guidance is written from the outsider viewpoint of the consultant, Clemente and Greenspan reveal things only insiders could know. They speak frankly about "critical post-merger issues" and delve deeply but very clearly into the requisite skills HR needs to pull off this type of career advancement. A must for any HR professional who wants to play a lead role in his/her company's M&A program, and get smarter in the process.

I Don't Understand All the 5-Star Reviews
As an avid true crime fan, I found this book to be little more than just another story about two people plotting the murder of a third. There is no insight provided with regard to the Sharee character -- We are presented with "what she did", but there is no real exploration of her character - & what really motivated her. In my opinion, the book cover (with its lurid picture and "Internet hype") clearly suggested something more than this book was able to deliver.

If you want to read a GOOD book about Internet deception and murder, I would highly recommend "The Internet Slavemaster" by John Glat. Insofar as character development, the book probably does not deliver much more than "Fatal Error", but there is certainly a lot more action, deception, and murder.

Internet intrique
Excellent read. Mark and Paul worked wonders in weaving the web of intrigue that was the true story.

The story vividly reviews how the new mediuum of internet chatting can become a forceful instrument in social intereaction. It also shows how you can adopt virtually any persona you wish when conversing through the electronic medium of chat rooms and Instant Messenger communications.

The development of personalities and families in the book was extraordinary. You literally pictured the characters and their interaction in this shocking real-life murder story.

Good work!

I was there...
I was there.... and I could not have written this story as well as the authors, Paul Janczewski and Mark Morris. Three different people, three diffrent time lines, laced in three diffrent lives. Like lacing your tennis shoes, Sharee Miller would weave a deadly lie between her husband, Bruce Miller, and her internet lover Jerry Cassaday. This book is a real page turner, a can't put it down type of book. When you get to the last page and realize that all that you have just read is true, you won't believe it. How could this wife, this mother, be so deadly, with out thinking of anyone else but her self? I wonder. Is this real life or the one in a million type of woman? For a close, personal, in-depth look into what the internet has to offer, read this book. I even knew how it ended, and I read the book to fill in some of the blanks, to answer some of the questions that I still had. Thank you Paul and Mark for doing such a great job with such a difficult story. You were kind and caring to the families when they really needed it. WE are glad it's over, and WE finally know most of the truth.

Highly recommended, evocative and beautifully written
I highly recommend "Codes of Love." It is evocative and beautifully written. I have used the exercises, techniques and ideas to deepen and clarify my own family relationships. The effect has been to focus my attention and empathy on the fabulously comic tragedy of my family's history from the perspective of each protagonist. I am released from the burden of their problems and I feel free to create my own life story. I look foward to my using the book in my therapy practice.

Codes of Love
I found this book so helpful that I bought 20 plus copies for family and friends. I have new compassion for people, especially my family. It amazes me to now recognize how many ways I was given love that I did not recognize because it was not given the way I thought it should be shown. After many years of absence, I am going home for Christmas this year. The knowledge gained from Codes of Love has provided me with a new perspective. It will be a much more pleasant holiday. Thank you Mark Bryan.

Using "Codes of Love"
Thank you for this wonderful book of reflection aids!

I have spent a great deal of time reviewing my memories, and have thought "shame on me" for some of the narrow minded ideas that I have held so close.

This book has helped me see arguements in my past in a new light. I have already approached and settled some things with others in close pursuit.

I intend to read portions of this book aloud to my children (3 teens), I believe that it will help them start early on the road to healthy adult relationships with family members and elders.

Thank you again,

Teresa Johnson

Action packed thriller
Danger Within kept my interest from begining to end. A chilling story of intrigue, the plot was logical, yet unpredictable. Anyone interested in mystery novels would enjoy this book.

The Green Mile: Night Journey (The Green Mile)

Stephen King is still the best.
As you read this series, you become involved yourself. You love the people Paul loves, as well as hate the ones he hates. You are right there as he and his friends risk their jobs to save a dear friends life by taking an inmate with incredible healing powers out of the Green Mile in the middle of the night. You wonder how John Coffey knew he was going on a ride that night, and how he can heal like he can. You are hoping that when they reach their destination, that he can heal Melinda and that they can pull this off. I could not wait from the very beginning of this series for the next book, and when I complete #6, I will be very sorry to see it end. As only Stephen King can, he guides your imagination into places you did not know existed.

Stephen King does it again.
Once again Stephen King took me into his world and, as always, I loved it. I, personally, prefer to have the entire book at once rather than in installments. I don't have a problem reading the end of the story only when I get to the end of the book. Waiting a month for each installment was very difficult for me, so I waited until I had all the books before I read them. Mr. King makes it so easy to see each of his characters and, also, to form the opinion of them that he wants you to form. Do yourself a favor and walk the Green Mile

Terror Continues In Part 5 of 6 of Stephen Kings Masterpiece
In Part One, Stephen King introduced us to his latest horror saga. We learned of a brutish hulk of a man who happened to end up in the right place at the wrong time. We also learned of a shell of a man who was in the right place at the wrong time. In Part Two, we met an unlikely hero. A little mouse who seemed like less than he actually was. Enemies were made and friends were lost. In Part Three, the man known as John Coffey shows his true colors and his true power, but, is it that of good, or that of evil? In Part Four, a little Frenchman with an etraordinary little friend takes his turn down the Green Mile, but meets with the most unlikely end which shows how bitter sweet revenge can be. Now, in Part Five of Stephen King's first multipart novel, which may very well be the best one of his career thus far, the guards of Cold Mountain Penitentiary take the biggest chance they can by taking John Coffey out of his shackles and with them on a NIGHT JOURNEY to the bedside of a woman who's life is being shattered by pain. It is now the moment that Stephen King's fans have been waiting for. The truth about John Coffey. Man or Monster? Good or Evil? The only way to learn the truth is to read the most captivating 90 pages you will ever read in THE GREEN MILE PART 5 OF 6: NIGHT JOURNEY.

Powerful story in a now-unnecessary serial format
This is King at his best in a serial novel dealing with such light subjects as life and death, love and hate. In the form of nursing home memoirs, King spins a gripping yarn about a crew of death row inmates and their keepers.

We meet a gentle miracle-working African-American giant sentenced to die for the rape and murder of two young girls. We see one of the normally hated murderers on "The Green Mile" (as Death Row at Cold Mountain prison is affectionately known) in a sympathetic light and when his gruesome death is portrayed in Part 4, we cannot help but hate his "righteous" executioners. We see hardened working men (whose jobs involve state sanctioned killing) in the Depression become transformed as if King intended this story to be a modern day Gospel narrative with Coffey in the role as the Christ.

Overall this is a powerful, disturbing story which tackles such weighty issues as racism, the death penalty, justice, grace, love and even old age with style and penache.

The serial format, which would have been extremely effective with the months long waiting period between installments, is now simply a way to squeeze a little more cash out of the reader. Read the story, but buy the complete novel.

Part 3 in The Green Mile Serialization
The first chapter in "Coffey's Hands" strays from the cliffhanger in the previous book ("The Mouse on the Mile"), which is a little aggravating if you're reading The Green Mile in chapbook form, from book to book. In this first chapter, Paul Edgecombe is shown in his current retirement home, before the book picks up where part two left off--with William "Wild Bill" Wharton arriving at Cold Mountain Penitentiary and nearly killing one of the guards. He certainly lives up to his wild name in this book.

Then the reader learns of John Coffey's healing gift, which he uses on Paul to cure his urinary infection. Paul later does a little investigation into John's past, though nothing new is revealed.

This book has a great cliffhanger, just like the previous book, though this one is a little sad. If you enjoyed "Coffey's Hands," then you'll want to start with the first two--"The Two Dead Girls" (#1) and "The Mouse on the Mile" (#2)--and continue with the remaining three: "The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix" (#4), "Night Journey" (#5), and "Coffey on the Mile" (#6). Or, better yet, just get The Green Mile novel.

As good As it gets! Stephen keeps you wanting more, read it!
The Green Mile,Coffey's Hands- continues the mystery of a large gentle man on death row. The prisoner seems mild, not likely to use the great power in him arms and hands. Convicted of a tragic crime, Coffey waits on death row and exhibits an unusual gift...King's Shawshank Redemption was an intimate look at prision from the prisoners viewpoint. The Green Mile uses the viewpoint of the death row guards, and no one's closer to prison life than that. More than just a dreary life of awaiting death, this story keeps you guessing and wantingto know more about Coffey--and what he means to the others on death row. Another terrific read for Stephan King fans!A series in six parts, I can't wait for the other three

Enjoyable reading; great to read aloud to your husband
I enjoyed the stories in Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul. Some make you laugh and some come pretty close to making you cry. I bought the book because I enjoy reading out loud to my husband and though it's not a book he would buy for himself, I thought it was one he would like. He did. If you are looking for a "feel good" book for the dad in your life, you can't go wrong with this book. Another great book for dads is 15 Reasons I Love My Dad. It's a fill-in-the-blank book that you fill with loving words and pictures. With Father's Day just around the corner, both of these books are guaranteed to please.

Wonderful reading
I picked up "Chicken Soup for the Father's Soul" in an airport bookshop as I departed for a four-day business trip. At the time I traveled very frequently, and I had planned to read a story only occasionally, saving them for those times when my thoughts wandered upon my two sons at home and refused to be redirected elsewhere. However, I found myself reading story after story, and by the time I had returned home, I had finished the book and was giving some of the stories a second read.

In the enclosed quarters of an airplane cabin, I found myself unsuccessfully struggling to contain my laughter, nonchalantly wiping tears from my eyes, and silently reflecting upon my own relationships as father and son.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy sometime. These stories will move you.

A Great Father's Day Gift!
I bought this book for my father for Father's day. Being an avid Chicken Soup for the Soul reader, I was curious to see how this book compared to the other books in the series. After I started reading some of the stories in the first chapter, I couldn't put the book down! I ended up reading the whole book in two days. I found the stories to be inspirational, humorous and heartwarming. I know my father will love this book. I've decided to buy my grandfather and father-in-law a copy for Father's day too. I would definitely recommed buying this book.

Essentual For Climbers
I thought this book was great for helping me discover some of good climbs and backpacking trips off the gringo trail. Many of the hikes it seems like no one explores, which I guess is a good thing. Can't wait for Columbia to settle down and hope Bradt puts together an equally good guide for that country.

Comprehensive guide that allows seeing areas beyond Cotopaxi
We were able to explore areas that hardly any foriegners had visited since several of hikes are new to this edition. Imagine they will be ruined soon but hopefully other travellers will take care not to flaunt their wealth to villagers. Recommned super hike to Anagamarca.

Best guide to Ecuadorian Andes.
Really helped me on hikes around Papallacta but still necessary to buy topo maps at IGM - paramo can be confusing.

More depth than most e-commerce books
This book has more depth on e-commerce than most e-commerce books. That is surprising since it is a "Complete Idiot's" series. The applicability to the business side of e-commerce is especially good. The book, taken as a whole, is a great starter's bible on e-commerce and technology businesses in general. If you want to know how to program Java or build a router from scratch then you'll need a different book but if you are building a company (any company) then don't miss some of the gems of wisdom buried deep in the book.

A good book
I can't stand reviews in general but the negative ones on this book suck. This is an unusually good starter book on e-commerce. Note I said starter...not expert (read the title). I like the approach and the content. I can't find more than a couple of references to the authors websites and if you've ever listen to a Comdex keynote, self promotion is the name of this game anyways. The fact that they only made a few references is surprising in this day and age. Here's what's good and bad. The good is the forward looking stuff. The bad is that this stuff dates very fast (it needs an updating especially website references). The basic stuff on business design is good but the stock stuff is maybe better suited for a book on the stock market. It's a bit slow at the start and that's bad but picks up the pace after the first chapter and that's good. If you do e-commerce, buy the book and you'll learn something unless your some kind of freakin e-wonderboy. But then you wouldn't be reading a "Complete Idiot's Guide now would ya?

Excellent E-comm Resource
This book is a valuable resource for people starting a tech company or running one from the business side. I thought it was worth the money and feel that there are lot's of valuable hints especially in the 'landmines lurking on the net' area. I got great value out of the concepts hidden deep in the pages. The 'links' to online resources are dated and the writing could be better at the start but overall the theory is great.

Absolutely the best book on medical school admissions
The entire procedure of applying to medical school is reviewed in this superb text. Many practical tips and examples are given. This has been an invaluable aid for me in applying to med school. This is a must have book.

Informative
As someone who reads medical application essays for a living, I also read a lot of admissions books. I think the Goldsteins' book is one of the best. It is comprehesive and deep. It provides a good overview of the admissions process and has excellent sections on writing the AMCAS essay and preparing for interviews. It's only weakness is that it virtually ignores secondary applications and essays.

An incredibly helpful resource--a must buy!
This book is incredibly good. I was so confused by the medical school admissions process and I had no where to turn. Fortunately I found it in my college bookstore. The Goldsteins take you from the selection of college majors all the way through the admissions process. It is written in a very friendly and informative style. Dr. Goldstein is a premedical advisor, so he is very current on issues important to premeds. This is the one book on medical school application that really has it all together.
