Good Content/Very Helpful
Most books on Greenhouse Gardening focus on the building of the greenhouse itself and don't spend enough time talking about the gardening process. This is a great book for a person who moves into a new home and already has a greenhouse. This book is an excellent education in greenhouse gardening.

Gay and Lesbian Politics: Sexuality and the Emergence of a New Ethic
Published in Paperback by Temple Univ Press (June, 1995)
Author: Mark Blasius
Amazon base price: $24.95
Used price: $2.20

Thinking about lesbian and gay existence as an "ethos"
Mark Blasius is a thoughtful and prolific political theorist who writes on matters of sexuality. This book's frequent invocations of Foucault, academic-jargony style, and sometimes difficult arguments make it perhaps best suited for the reading list of a graduate seminar. Blasius is persuasive, though, in advancing his interesting and worthwhile central thesis: that lesbian and gay existence should be conceived as an "ethos" - something at once more personal and more political than merely a sexual orientation, a lifestyle, or even a community.

Enlightening, delightful read
Mark's assessment of how gay men grow, evolve, and eventually survive in the world is right-on. Gay Body is an incredibly well written account, full of poetic and historical references that have been all too often left out of contemporary accounts of male homosexuality. Gay men have a rich and varied cultural history that Mark so vividly recreates in his book.

It's not very often that I pick-up a book and read it right through without putting it down; Thompson's Gay Body was an exception.

The Gender of Rosalind....Useful and Concise
This incredibly helpful-and concise- book is an interesting read and also an easy resource. Not bogged down with excessive length or weight, it is useful for students and people on the go. I purchased the title both for a term paper and for an interesting read on a recent flight. I found it useful both times, and recommend it.

George Bush: The Story of the 41st President of the United States
Published in Hardcover by Delacorte Press (January, 1989)
Author: Mark Sufrin
Amazon base price: $12.95
Used price: $7.49
Average review score:

A juvenile biography of George Bush through election night
Because Mark Sufrin's juvenile biography of George Bush was published in 1989 it ends on election night, months before the 41st President took the oath of office. Consequently, this book is about Bush's path to the White House and "What kind of man" he is rather than about his presidency. Sufrin covers how Bush served his country for over forty years as a navy pilot, businessman, congressman, ambassador, head of the CIA, and Vice President. Sufrin's account is based on autobiographies, writings and commentaries and makes a point of declaring "No part of this biography has been fictionalized." Young readers will learn about how Bush was a war hero, met and married Barbara, and embarked on a public career that found him constantly on the move. Sufrin provides all of the appropriate biographical details and presents a balanced picture of Bush's political career up to that point. This book does not shy away from the criticism Bush faced for being too inexperienced to be Ambassador to the United Nations and picking Dan Quayle as his Vice-President. This book is still appropriate for younger students researching the life of the first Bush to be President, although it will provide no information about his term in the White House. The book also includes eight pages of black & white photographs of his family and career.

Not bad, not bad
This is a good book, for the advanced guitar player, but if you're like me, just starting out, get a beginner's book. There are a lot of confusing terms and notations that, unless you're a genuis, you'll never be able to understand. But otherwise, it is REALLY complete, has over 2100 chords and the book is sorted in a logical order.

"fun" read, believe it or not
As improbable as it might be, this book makes what many people consider the dullest period of American history come alive. I was one of Dr Summers' students at UK in the early 'nineties, and while he was one of the most aggravating and obnoxoious humans I've ever run across, he does know his stuff and he knows how to write.
