Frost Did A Lot More In Florida
This book, being a memoir, barely begins to tell the story of Robert Frost in Florida. His time in Key West is given extremely short shrift, and no mention at all is made of his important friendship with Florida's own Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. The Frosts were treasured dinner guests at Cross Creek before Mrs. Frost's death; Mr. Frost alone visited Marjorie in St. Augustine and Van Hornesville, NY. I don't know how Muir missed this connection except that she was focused on his Miami ties. But in that case, the book should be called "Frost in Miami."

Still, for Frost afficianados, this book is a fix. Contains much personal information about his rotten personality, but most of us have heard that before. If you had written "Stopping by Woods," you would have a right to be a so-and-so sometimes.

Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians (Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture, 8)

New Testament VOL. VIII
This collection of ancient "Christian" commentators is well done, it is on the NT books of GALATIANS, EPHESIANS and PHILIPPIANS. It is beautifully printed and formatted. The binding is a cheap glue injection, much of the volume does not lay open. Printed on acid-free paper, though not ANSI certified.

322 pages give the readings (comments) upon these 3 books by such notables as Chrysostom, Jerome, Ambrosisater, Hilary of Poitiers, Origen, Fulgentius, Theodoret, Augustine, et al. Most notable are comments by Marius Victorinus (which comments are not easy to examine elsewhere), his comments alone (even in translation) are worth the price of the book.

The text is nicely laid out, and is easy to use. But it is not for scholarly use (largely) as the comments are ALL translated into English, not in their original Greek or Latin. Too bad, if the original texts would have been added, then this would have been a 5 star book! As it is, one can only get a general idea of each commentators meanings -- being totally reliant upon the translations of the editors.

Such an ecumenical agenda, causes users to wonder why such and such a translation was made, certain Greek and Latin phrases were rendered in such a way as to be suspicious. Thus without the original texts, the work cannot be tested. Again too bad, as a collection in the original languages with English translation would have been very very useful.

Too general, too subdued. Pretty book though.

A bit too much of a good thing
This highly-detailed analysis of the essay-writing process may be a little too complete for its own good. Germov has done an impressive job of organizing his material. His thirteen chapters are divided into many clearly-labeled subtopics, which are amply developed by means of charts and bulleted lists. No stone has been left unturned in his exhaustive analysis of how to organize, research, draft, and polish a college-level essay. This concise but information-packed volume might serve as a fine textbook for a course on academic writing, but it is not a book that invites casual consultation on the part of young essay writers in search of a few helpful hints. These observations notwithstanding, Germov has done a remarkable job of analyzing the essay-writing process.

Learn graphics fundamentals
This is a good book. Not the best I've ever read in regards to graphics in C, but when it comes to basic graphing functions in C, this book covers all the topics well. It accomplishes it's goal by builing an include library step by step. Ultimately, the library of functions that are built can increase the size of any programmers bag of tricks. Probably the best thing about this book is that it assumes NO previous graphics knowledge. The first chapters cover the basics needed such as raster and vector graphics, and how colors are built and displayed on a monitor

Not punk stories at all, but not really bad stories either.
Okay, I bought this book because I'm a punk and I thought that this would be highly entertaining to me...wrong. The only story I even like din here was the one by Poppy Z. Brite and it's a gothic story. The stories aren't bad at all they're just not what they say they are. xXx

Aguirre100@aol.com
Proffessor of NT theology at Princeton, Donald Juel gives us a basic introduction to the Markan gospel and its issues. His style is clear and verbose. And it is a real shame that the work is so small and not a verse by verse commentary. The format is topical and the tone is popular.

I found myself in agreement with most of his conclusions. You might be better off purchasing this work in the used section.

Enriching our intellectual understanding of Nazism
". . . of considerable interest for its insights into the continuing puzzle of why so many German intellectuals were taken by Nazism and whether postmodernist thought is indictable for the seduction. . . .Roche has enriched the dialogue about a dark chapter in intellectual history. As neo-Nazism continues its troubling re-emergence in America and abroad, we cannot learn too much about its intellectual roots and seductions." -- from my review in the Journal of Value Inquiry, Vol. 28 (1994), 345-348.

A good resource for black and white ornament
An interesting resource. The designs are primarily of logo like graphics, although they do not bear any business names. A ton of different professions and merchants are represented from agriculture to zithers. There are dozens of individual images, the last 28 pages of the book contain full page layouts using various graphics from the previous pages, all of the text in the full page layouts are in German.
