Wonderful book to create a spirit of adventure for children.
Children love adventure, and Buck Wilder is a wonderful character that inspires the spirit. Even if your children have never ventured to the lake or stream with a fishing pole, Buck will make them wish they could find a favorite pond today. My children loved the characters and even had an adventure reading dozens of tips that are written along the borders of the book.

Excellent in both content and illustration...
This is the second edition of "Buck Wilder" that I have purchased, the first being worn out after only a few months. This book is written in a clear, concise manner easily understood by both adults and children. I found valueable information and earned some real "quality time" with my sons through reading this book. The illustrations are quite enjoyable as well.

Buddhism and Asian History (Religion, History, and Culture)

Excellent compilation of key articles
The importance of the Buddhist movement for much of the Asian continent cannot be underestimated. This volume contains articles from the Encyclopedia of Religion charting the religion's history on that continent from its foundation to the present.

This approach, perhaps unavoidably, has a few weaknesses. Cross-regional trends in Buddhism and the influence of one region on another tend to be lost in the work's generally geographic organization. Most frustratingly, parentheses frequently refer the reader to other articles in the Encyclopedia which are not included in the volume. One could go look them up in a library which has the Encyclopedia of Religion, of course, but what it really means is that this is essentially a book for those interested in serious learning and who don't mind not being spoon-fed.

Gripping and Emotional Collection of Short Stories
Amazing - this book is one of my favorites of all time. No author I've ever come across depicts characters the way Mark Sinnett does - a true genius. The reader becomes part of the story and feels the emotions and shared in the torment that his characters go through. With each story (of which there are about 20) you can't help put relate and feel tremendous compassion and understanding for his characters despite their glaring faults and sometimes downright evil behaviour. Well done Mark

An ideal tool for teaching poetry to high school students.
I teach high school English. My students are wild about this book. That's all I have to say, and an astute reader will recognize immediately that nothing more need be said.

Eloquent, lucid discussions of Indian issues through history
and why they are still vitally important today. Why are so many non-Indian Amerciansdrawn to Native American culture, to the collective view of the world andthe human niche within it? Learn, through example, how the oral tradition is a source of inspiration, education, humor and emotional release for those who still practice the arts of story-telling. Learn why Trickster is as or more important today not only to Indian stories but to cultures around the world. And if you're curious about the stand Native Amercians tend to take regarding environmental issues, read this book. The Constitutional precedence of treaties with Indian tribes is clearly, succinctly discussed, and if you have any questions remaining after reading this slim volume, many sources of additional texts are cited. This is a wonderful blend of academics and plain speaking. Quite rare!
