I picked this off the bookshelf at a bookshop and it is certainly one of the better books I have come across to help oneself work out onefs soul purpose in life. This slim volume doesnft go into specifics of which path to follow, but through various exercises and examples of other people, leads you to discover what are your strengths and weaknesses. Using this as a base and through meditation and further exercises you can find what feels right for you. It does not necessarily mean finding the perfect job, but finding something in your life that fulfils you. One point that is not often dealt with by other similar books is that finding meaning in our own lives should not be self-centered: we should also include some form of service to others. Most of all, finding fulfillment does not mean we must all be high achievers and have some visible form of success. We can each find meaning and fulfillment in our lives by living our soulfs purpose, which is unique to each and everyone and which in turn complements that of those around us.

It takes all the practical information that you need to survive but then throws you in to explore for yourself showing you where to get free information rather than regurgitating the standard stuff that you get free anyway, yet taking great pains to show you money saving details like where the bus stop into town is when you arrive at any of Bangkok's bus stations. There are so many maps that it can actually be better (as well as much cheaper and lighter to carry) than a series of one country guides. One thing that takes a while to get used to is the icons which make the maps look wild the first time you look at them, but when you get used to them means you get info packed in a small space. In cities where there are loads of guest houses just a "traveler area" is marked which seems like a good idea. Transport is summarized not in words but in sort of spider-like schematic maps which show times, prices, etc and diagrammatically give a good idea of where in a town to find the bus in the first place. On the other hand if you want accommodation much above the budget level this is not the book for you. By the way with all the SARS paranoia it is a great time to be out here in SE Asia!

For any rock climber planning a trip to the greater Yosemite area, this book is a must. All the climbs in the book are within a few hours of Yosemite, and it may even help you to avoid the headaches of the valley tourists. I reccomend that you take a trip to The Balls as it is called. This place consists of six or seven granite domes with superb climbing.

As a long time vegetarian, I am always looking for new soy recipes to EASILY add variety to my diet. Louise Hagler's recipes are easy to follow; use common ingredients and are not complicated BUT taste great -- even to non-vegetarians. I especially appreciate the nutritional information given for every recipe.

This is also a good inside look at how American space policy was made during the Carter and Reagan administrations. This book would make an excellent companion to Howard McCurdy's The Space Station Decision.

I recommend you buy Spanish in Just One Week because my family and I got excellent results from the course. Time is of the essence for us so we wanted to learn the basics quickly. While I can{t say I became fluent in one week, I can say that we all learned to speak and understand one heck of a lot of Spanish. More than our friends who bought a Michel Thomas course. Now they want to borrow ours.

My two teenage girls ages 13 and 16 really liked this course.
They enjoyed learning Spanish from a low key instructor and a native Spanish speaker. It not only taught them Spanish, it also improved their grades.
