One of the only Holocaust books on a women, a great read
I loved this book, and I couldn't put it down. Great read about the Holocaust. Very chilling to see how the women in the death camps, especially Auschwitz were treated. The font is for 6th Graders, but I feel that it souldn't be read, for the graphic nature, until high school.
A very good read.

The Hertz Siddur
Like all the work of Rabbi Hertz with which I am familiar, this siddur exhibits great scholorship, as well as love of Judaism and it's traditions.
The book contains all the prayers used in daily as well as Shabat worship, in Hebrew as well as an English translation. It also contains lengthy commentaries on these prayers, their history, authorship, and function in the liturgy.
Rabbi Hertz also includes essays on the history of Jewish communal prayer.
This siddur has been in publication for more than forty years, and is still a unique and wonderful achievement, a worthy companion to the Hertz Chumash: "Pentateuch and Haftorahs."

History comes alive.
I have read this book 3 times. 1979, 1986, and 1996. This book brings an exciting perspective to a time in history not well known by the average person. As well it gives political insight of corruption and mudslinging that existed well before the 1990's. The book is quite long, but never dull. I read it first right before college, and it influenced me to major in history/PoliSci.

Good read, Great insight
The title itself is somewhat misleading. The text is not, per se, an autobiography as authored by St. Ignatius but rather, is a transcript written from memory of the results of several interviews with the Saint by a fellow Jesuit. However, the insight into the character of Ignatius through the report of the autobiography is remarkable. Further, the story of his life itself provides wonderful background for exploring the socio-historical context Spiritual Exercies of St. Ignatius.

Excellent book for patients with Low Back Pain
I would have to give two thumbs up to this recently published manual on back problems. In fact, I found this book so helpful that I now recommend it to essentially all of my patients with low back problems. The book begins with an extremely innovative treatment of the anatomy of the low back. For those who treat low back pain, the importance of this is obvious. It is impossible to explain MRI and other test findings as well as possible surgical procedures or injections to patients who do not have a fundamental grasp of the spinal anatomy. This book provides a very simple pedagogic tool for understanding the spinal anatomy. Furthermore, the authors devote considerable attention on preparation for the initial doctor's visit. Few things are more frustrating than seeing a new patient without records, x-rays, MRI scans, myelograms, etc. The patient who reads this book will meet for the first visit with all the necessary information for the treating physician. Exercises are provided with excellent illustrations and there is extensive coverage of ADL's and medication therapy. There is even a chapter on sex and low back pain which I find invaluable for treating my patients. In short, this is an excellent volume and heartily recommended by this reviewer. Michael D. A brilliant exposition of "praxis"
An alternative to technological thinking is, or should be, of interest in many domains, e.g. psychotherapy, politics, management. The context for Dunne's critique is philosophy of education--specifically, a critique of the "teaching by the behavioral objectives model." Alistar MacIntyre provides a compelling introduction. A brief review cannot possibly do justice to this wonderful book which MacIntyre calls splendid and remarkable. It is both, and more. It deserves wide and careful reading and study. My own interest in the subject matter stems from work in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy.

Most of us prefer not to dwell on what happens to us after after the 'big lights out'.
Our disposal is someone else's concern by then.
But, we trust people in the death aftercare industry to treat our mortal remains with care and respect.
Trust no one buddy...
This true crime revelation about violent, arrogant, rogue mortician, David Sconce, will turn your stomach.
It exposes a highly lucrative industry, involving unauthorised organ removal, multiple cremation, and ash mingling.
Skinned, de-brained, de-toothed, eviscerated, there was often little left of peoples' parents and children before they were crammed into ovens like trash.
For some curious reason I usually dismiss true crime books that have no pictures as I see it as a sign of cheapness or lack of research.
Despite the absence of pictures this work is a detailed, enthralling read...excellent.
