Get All Points of View
If you're interested in vision disorders, this book presents a novel point of view. Trachtman documents improvements in visual acuity using his wholistic approach and visual training methods. Although the jury is still out on the causes of myopia, hyperopia etc. this book offers a valuable and fascinating presentation of important results, mainly intended for those with research interests in this field.

This book should be called, "How to succeed in Foster Care.
Living in a foster home, this book was given to me by my caseworker in my third year as a foster kid. Mr. Falke doesn't say anything more than he has to and mostly lets the kids speak for themselves. Its nice to know other teenagers have the problem I do.

Beautiful, inspiring new version of Creation!
While this explanation of Creation is formatted both in text and graphics for children, it is something adults can appreciate as well! It's exciting in that parent and child can share this book and discuss the concepts portrayed therein. Rawady's text is uplifting and thought provoking as in "All of these things had a part of The One inside of them." Cordaro's art appears three-dimensional at times and the colors pulsate giving even more meaning to Rawady's words. One asks at the end of the book . . . do they find peace? Wonderful first for both author and illustrator!

Sounding good just got easier
I've dabbled with exotic scales in the past, and have gone through the "Grimoire" series, but I could never make the results sound like anything resembling MUSIC. Before buying this book I surfed over to the website... and
checked out some of the MP3s - I was completely blown away by how good the samples sounded. Not only has this book taught me now to apply these new scales, it's also made general harmonic theory jell for me for the first time. The companion CD (which must be ordered separately, or downloaded from the site) contains a wealth of useful material, including extensive tablature, as well as audio and MP3 tracks - both with the leads and without so you can jam along with the progressions. I liked some of these examples so much that I actually ordered the CD by the Author's band (called Spontaneous Human Combustion), which is excellent, but not the subject of this review. One of the things that I especially like about the methodology presented is that it employs the "positional" playing approach, which is what I am most familiar with. If you're looking for a way to spice up your playing, this book will do it for you.

In depth examination of Visual Design
Joseph A. Gatto has published one of the most comprehensive tomes on modern visual art and the utility of the space around us, the products we use, and indeed, man's design of his environment and the world. Fascinating theories, a good read, for beginner and pro alike.

The best book on developing leaders - by far!
For the past two years I have been working as a consultant on the creation of an executive service for the UN. More recently I have played a similar role for the US federal government. I have become a student of the thinking and the books on developing leaders. This book is by far the most important book to read. Its based solidly on research findings but more importantly on intuitively valid conclusions. It makes practical sense.
It takes the current state of the art and moves it forward. It also raises important questions about prevailing beliefs and practices. The ideas developed in this book make you realize why most executive development is not productive.
I see this book as a companion piece to another of the great books on the subject, Results-Based Leadership. Jack Zenger is one of the authors of both books.

Witnessing Tool for the 21st Century
Have you ever tried to talk to a friend about your Christianity only to hear, "Oh, I believe in God, I go out in the woods to worship him?" Were you at a loss of words that would help you through this difficult moment? No more losses with Joseph O'Lear's new book, "F. A. Q's" (Frequently Asked Questions). This quick-reference answer book gives you easy answers with scripture basis for even the wildest questions that hit a Christian evangelist or witness. Even the novice Christian will understand the easy to use format of Questions (or responses) and the Christian Answers with the Bible verses already researched for you. I highly recommend this as a companion to your Bible when you are ready to reach out to others or a reference for further personal Bible study. Easy to find, Biblical references for any anti-evangelism response they can think up. Also, it fits into the pocket of a standard Bible cover.

A beautiful rendition of classic tales.
When it comes to childrens' books, sometimes the illustration is as important as the text. The illustrations in this book are derived from hand-stitched textile pieces - colorful and imaginitive. Sketches for the textile works are printed on the endpapers. Each page has one of Aesop's fables told briefly enough for a small child to digest, and in simple language that is easy to read out loud. There are many versions of Aesop, of course. I was looking for one that would make these old moral tales palatable for kindergarten and first graders, and this is the one.
