Great book-useless CD
As a 2nd year pediatric resident in a foreign hospital I chose Oski's Pediatrics as my reference textbook based on the clarity of disease presentation, the friendly and consultatory approach to issues as begining your own practice etc. I found extremelly helpfull the sections with brief disease outlines, symptom related differential diagnosis and syndrome presentation. An excellent book (5 star)with the only drawback being the unacceptable CD (no star) which is hard to master and has limited flexibility regarding page layout (could a PDF version help?).

Solid information for prophecy studies
The title of the book is slightly misleading. The first few chapters are indeed about Saddam Hussein's rebuilding of Babylon. Yet, the rest of the book educates the reader about what events will happen before, during, and after the "rebuilding of Babylon". If you are interested in the study of prophecy then this book will interest you. If you are looking for an indepth study of Iraq, Hussein, and/or the rebuilding of Babylon then chances are you will come away disappointed. Fortunately for me, it was like finding a diamond in a pile of rocks and God allowed me to gain a blessing of the spirit while reading.

Excellent Introduction to the Life & Works of Palladio
I became acquainted with the works of Palladio after taking an art history class that focused on the relevant time period. I was impressed with his designs but a little surprised that Palladio is not given much recognition by those outside of the world of architecture. This book helps, at least in some ways, to set things right.

This book includes a brief biography on Andrea Palladio with insight on his _The Four Books of Architecture_. It also mentions the introduction that many Americans have to Palladian architecture-Thomas Jefferson. The scope of his influence on Jefferson is evident simply by looking at Monticello and the University of Virginia.

The authors divide Palladio's works into three categories: villas, palaces and churches. They also include Palladian designs in England, Scotland and America. Each design is profiled with pictures and given roughly 2 - 4 paragraphs of description. The information provided is easy to read but not so simplistic that it seems superficial. The photographs are excellent and often show fascinating detail. Unfortunately though, all photos are b/w and sometimes color would have been helpful. That reason and the basic nature of the text caused me to rate this at four stars rather than five. Experts and scholars should look elsewhere unless they are only after the illustrations. For students and casual observers, this book is a fantastic way to begin learning about Palladio.

A must read for art historians interested in U.S. museums
A wonderfully revealing history of the chicanery and deceit used in transferring much of European art into today's U.S. museums. Simpson is detailed and thorough in researching the history of the House of Duveen and connecting well known Art Historian Bernard Berenson to the early 20th century's version of today's internet speculation game

Party Leaders;Sketches
Written in 1854 and published the next year, this book is fascinating in providing personal sketches of distinguished Americans Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson,Henry Clay and John Randolph with many references to other prominent men who were their contemporaries. The author's
analysis is interesting not only in the spirited description of the individuals profiled but in his comparison of each of them with their political antagonists. The unique perspective he brings a man whose life overlapped some of these figures is worth a read for history or politics buffs. His admiration and defense of some he buttresses with argument. His passion is clear.
His oratorical style is typical of the time yet conveys a vivid impression of his subjects, and reminds one of a time before soundbites and simple words geared to a mass audience.

What a wonderful book!
This is a well-written and extraordinarily well-researched book about the history of the popular British publishing house of Mills & Boon (Harlequin romances, etc.). Joe McAleer has written a book appealing to romance-lovers and non-romance-lovers alike (I'm the latter!). The wonderfully-named "Passion's Fortune" is entertaining, informative, and eye-opening, as it sheds glowing light on a niche (albeit large) business within publishing. You will not view "cheap, summertime romance novels" the same after reading this book!

Learn about the History that lives in your own backyard
I got interested in the Patapsco River when I went to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I knew about the general history of the B & O railroad in the Patapsco Valley, but this book opened up an entire new window on the history of the Patapsco Valley. Travers' prose makes the history of the Patapsco Valley easily accessible to everyone and the geographic organization of his book makes it useful as a guidebook too.

A great look at St. Paul the Apostle
First off, this commentary by Fitzmyer can be hard to read. Stick with it though and it will pay off. His writing style can be dense, as it is crammed with footnotes and is rambling. Once you get used to his style, you notice how great his organization and ideas are. Fitzmyer really puts forth some great insights, and anyone who has read Paul will find themselves nodding their heads as they go through the book. I had to read this for a class on Paul, and I'm glad I did.

A Good Primer on Nonviolence and Objectivity to War
This nice collection of articles, essays and pamphlets is a must for any High School or College course regarding Peace, Conflict Resolution, Political Structure, and War.

There is a nice introduction to every piece to give the reader a decent context, and each article has a few follow-up questions for future insight.
