This book should be required reading for all school people.
The book, which is an easy read, predicts and summarizes what we see beginning to happen in our employment world today. More and more corporations are down-sizing, more people are working at part-time jobs, and out of their homes on a contractual basis, technology is booming causing us to be able to communicate more quickly with each other, and so forth. Boyette very insightfully describes the direction that our culture needs to take to prepare our students to meet the demanding employment world of the future. What is scary is that so few of us foresee, are aware of, and respond appropriately to those demands in our schools, our communities and, politically, in our nation. This book is a "must read" for anyone helping students direct their lives in preparations for the world of work.

Without any doubt this book belongs on everyone's bookshelf.
Marvelous. Compelling. Funny. (How rare to review a new work by Mark Twain!) This book is rare, old scotch with just enough ice. It's a fine, black Connecticut cigar. It's a wide tie with a brave picture on it. It's a moonlit sail on the seas of time, and the distant rasping, drawling voice of God, winking at the human race through his prophet Samuel. Get it. Read it a little at a time. Hope like hell somebody finds some more papers out there in California that nobody has had the chance at, and that the small minded are at lunch and the office boy leaves them in the outbox and they, too, come to print while yet we live. No one can possibly get past the mythic Mark Twain to a deeper understanding of the great writer and his later passions without a thorough reading of the Eden stories, and an enjoyment of his darker humor. As an anthology, this book is a delight. But this work includes previously unpublished writings, and so it must be in any Twain lover's library. The author of this book is Clemens himself. The editors have, with appropriate reverence and irreverence, expanded the horizons of our understanding. Hoorays and war-whoops all round.

Bible is not Inerrant
Generally using a question/answer format,Barr shows that the Bible has many contradictions in it. Both testaments frequently have more than one account of an event. For example,"What method was used in loading the animals into Noah's ark?" 2 of every kind Gen 6.19 and by sevens Gen 7. "Who was Christ's father?" gives us 3 Biblical answers: God Matt 1;18;Joseph Matt 13;55; and First begotten of the dead Rev.1:5. Barr cites hundred of examples of contradictions or multiple versions of the incident. Excellent book for people not committed to the inerrancy of the Bible.A real eye-opener to what the KJV actually says.

Exhaustive & Incomparable
Good day to all who read, I purchased these books with the encouragement of a friend who also had a set. I begin reading and doing a study in the Book of Genesis. I became enthralled with all of the information that was presented. Mr. Exell uses all of his resources to exhaust and show a variety of thought and study to present a whole and determined view for the student of Holy Scriptures. My library is full of great works and wisdom from those whom God has blessed with wisdom to put to paper what He has blessed them with, However none can can compare to the wisdom within the Borders of this set of books.

Joe Nocera is the best business writer in the world
Joe Nocera is the best business writer in America and this a collection of works from his days as a writer at the highly regarded Texas Monthly.

If you buy the book, please send a note and ask Joe to wear white shirts when he appears on CNBC. He looks too wild and crazy with the other colors.

Billy Maki: A Novel
Published in Paperback by North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc. (01 June, 1997)
Author: Joseph Damrell
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

Utterly hilarious Good Ol Boy gone bad!
Billy Maki is simply the funniest book I've ever read in my life!

Imagine Billy, a Good 'Ol Boy from the backwoods just trying to do his thing up in the rural upper penninsula of Michigan. (A 'Yooper' as they're called.) Problem is, Billy just can't run his life right. Doesn't make good choices sometimes. And this time, well, he's just plain gone over the deep end.

Billy Maki is the story of an exceptionally bad week of Billy's crazy life: He's living in his hunting shack cuz his wife's thrown him out of the house. He's got a ton of poached deer he's gotta do *something* with, cuz the neighbors wife says 'Get it out of our freezer!' He's not just wanted by the law; the town cop's got it in for Billy. IF he could hold down a job, maybe he'd have one and get a little _stability_ in his life.

But you see, STABILITY is the problem. Billy's been going to therapy, his wife made him do it, trying to fix his stupid life a little bit. And the Doc's got him on Prozac to kinda smooth out the bumps. But dang! Prozac and six-pack of beer just don't get along well, you know what I'm saying?

The trials and tribulations of Billy just trying to get through a day of life is funny enough, but what make's this book so hysterical is how it's told! The first two chapters are Billy's version of the story... Then subsequent chapters from his wife, Diane, then the town constable, Billy's father, Billy's best friends -- All telling _their_ version of the story; "What the hell happened to Billy's mind last week?" makes this book an absolute hoot!

This re-telling of a very simple story from all the people whom Billy's life affects in these few days is a brilliant writing approach! (Remember, Billy's full of Prozac and beer - and there's two sides to every story... and you better get a second opinion to find out the truth!)

This book is very regional to the northwoods. I live a hundred miles from where it takes place, and it's dead on accurate about life up in these parts! But the story and its humor are UNIVERSAL. For city-folk, Billy could just as easily be _YOUR_ neighbor, living in that run-down trailer-park in your otherwise very nice suburban neighborhood.

BUY THIS BOOK. And joyfully, hysterically let your self get drug into the silly world of Billy Maki.

Minke whales
Joe Horwood does an excellent job of compiling a large amount of information on minke whales and presenting it in a very readable fashion. The result is an excellent reference book for biologists interested in what is known (up until 1990) about what is currently the most heavily hunted whale.

Biology and Medicine of Rabbits and Rodents
Published in Paperback by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (15 January, 1995)
Authors: John E. Harkness and Joseph E. Wagner
Amazon base price: $36.95
Average review score:

The Biology and Medicine of Rabbits and Rodents
The purpose is to provide lab professionals with the advice on the maintenance of rabbits and rodents, concerning their care and health. It covers rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, gerbil, mouse and rat. Even though it is intended for *experts*, the book is relatively easy to read and is very thorough starting with the general husbandry and biology, followed by clinical procedures, sign of disease, diagnoses and listing specific diseases and conditions from A-Z. It lists the hosts for the disease, etiology, transmission, predisposing factors, clinical signs, necropsy signs, diagnosis, prevention, effect on research and public health significance. The last chapter has self test with case reports.

Even though this is not an *exotic pet rodent* book, it is a great reference book for any rabbit or rodent pet owner, since most diseases occur in pets as well as in laboratory animals. A nice middle ground between serious technical veterinary books and the common photo pet shop books.
