A Different Season: A Practical Guide for Growth While Grieving a Death

Extremely Practical with Spiritual Depth
As a therapist I have found this title to be very helpful in counseling grieving clients. I haven't found another book like it on the market because it's so practical and yet has a depth to it which only a person who has experienced grief can express. A grieving person can use it at any step in their grief recovery--whether they have just lost a loved one or are still grieving a death which occurred years ago. The way the author uses the seasons of the year is quite extraordinary. I use it in conjuntion with the author's "Bereavement Handouts" and have recommended this book to clients, other mental health clinicians, and even my local funeral home as an expression of sympathy to a grieving individual.

Simple, Practical, Helpful--VERY unique grief book.
As a clinician, I have found this book to be helpful with my clients who are grieving--no matter what stage they are in. It's very practical--going through the seasons of the year. The author has obviously had extensive experience with grief, both personally and professionally.

My five year old son's favorite book!
This is without a doubt my son's favorite book. He takes it everywhere with him and has most of the 80+ dinosaurs names and habits memorized. Five year old says- "Daddy, this protoavis is a lot like the archaeopteryx", or, "Daddy, this dilophosaurus, it's the one that ate Newman in Jurassic Park, he spits poison". The illustrations are excellent, the text informative and interesting.

Wonderfully illustrated dinosaur pocket guide for all ages.
This small format pocket guide with 80 full-page, full-color realistic pictures of dinosaurs, painted by the most prominent paleo life artists including Brian Franczak, Donna Braginetz and others, will take you to the incredible lost worlds where the strange creatures once roamed.
The text is simple and correct. This book is a perfect gift for all nature enthusiasts and all those interested in paleontology and dinosaurs respectively. Especially recommended for young readers

Examines the 1970s as an era of great social change
Compiled, written and edited by Sherrie A. Inness, Disco Divas: Women And Popular Culture In The 1970s cogently examines the 1970s as an era of great social change, especially for women. Illustrating the reverberations of cultural shifts in the 60's, the changing images of women in popular culture and mass media, and the changes that continue to evolve as those generations of women grew older, Disco Divas is a timely and insightful contribution to Women's Studies reading lists and American Popular Culture Studies reference collections.

Rethinking what it meant to be female in the 1970s
DISCO DIVAS, edited by Sherri Inness, is an excellent anthology of essays from a variety of popular culture critics writing about the much-ignored decade of the 1970s and the variety of ways the evolving definition of what is female was influenced by advertising, television, movies, and even recipes.

Of particular interest to me were two chapters: one on the relevance of CHARLIE'S ANGELS (the in-depth discussion by Whitney Womack of how the signified transcended Aaron Spelling's supericial signs is a revelation that takes all the fluff out of a Farrah Fawcett haircut) and the other on changing female images on American soap operas (the depth with which female characters were written, moving from the home and bedroom to the office and boardroom, gives contemporary soap watchers a very good idea why daytime (and for that matter, nighttime) soap operas have declined both in number and viewers; Thomas Petitjean, who wrote this chapter, has a good handle on why the 1970s were indeed the golden years of the American soap opera).

This book is not simply for scholars or readers of feminist studies; it's written with style and verve that make it interesting reading for the non-scholar who simply loved the 1970s or grew up in the period and wants to see just how popular culture shaped the new millenium.

Mary's Merciful Power in Mankind's Salvation
This private revelation written by Venerable Mary of Agreda in the mid 1600's as revealed by the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of God and the Queen of Creation is a blessing for all that read it.It reveals God's intention for Mary from the beginning of creation in the same instant that the Son of the Father would become the God-Man,Jesus Christ. It reveals the hidden earthly life of Holy Mary and the Holy Family from Mary's Immaculate Conception in St Anne and by St Joachim to her Coronation in Heaven as its Queen. It's revelation concerning the Trinity, creation,Lucifer's downfall, man's downfall, the Old Testament, the Life of Christ,Mary and St Joseph,of hell and purgatory,of the earthy possession and power of Satan and his demons,of Christ's Passion and death,of the interpretation and meaning of St John's Revelation and other Mysteries of God and Mary--- are without equal in private revelation. The ultimate goodness that this book reveals from The Queen of Mercy and Grace,is the tremendous power God has bestowed on The Mother of Mankind as sinful man's Intercessor to Christ thru her distribution of God's mercy and grace. Thus thru Her Human Perfectness as the Mother of God,She has become the Gateway to Heaven for individual man-if only he recognizes her as his Queen of Heaven and sincerely asks for Her Mercy and for his personal salvation. This writing has gained all of the approbations of the many Religious Orders,Congregations,Princes and Popes of The Roman Catholic Church.

mystical City of God
I feel the book is more valuable than the bible in many ways. The bible gospels have conflicts in them, and were written many years after the fact. This book has to be factual and was and is very etifing and enhancing for me to read and reread. While some people shy away from this type of private revalations I find it rewarding. Many would not and do not take the effort to read this type of material. Knowing about the author helps a lot in appreciating the work. Truly it is one of the greatest books ever written. The other private revelation books do not provide factual and interesting information. They visualize and speculate in their mind, while the Mystical City leaves not doubt of authority and integrity.

Doctrine of Being in the Aristotelian Metaphysics

A remarkable work
No actual series of words can convey the excellence of the scholarship Father Owens' work magisterially sets forth. It is a detached, objective, and eminently instructive account of one of the most difficult and profund works written in the West. It is worth every moment of persual that the book requires of the reader in order that he begin to come to grips with one of the greatest thinkers of our era. I cannot recommend highly enough Father Owens' monumental acheivement, "The Doctrine of Being in the Aristotleian Metaphysics".

Aristotelian Equivocity
This is a classic of Aristotelian secondaries. Owens' (not to be confused with G.E.L. Owen) account of pros hen equivocity and the "as structure" of the science of Being (metaphysics) is a major contribution to Aristotle scholarship and is more than likely the source for G.E.L. Owen's notion of "focal meaning". This is a thematic account of Aristotle's Metaphysics focusing on the role of equivocals. However, Owens does provide pretty close readings of most of the books. He has extensive notes on the other major secondaries (obviously, written prior to 1978) and a bibliography of 608 entries. This is one of the most comprehensive, influential, and refreshingly readable accounts of one of Aristotle's most difficult texts.

I thought it was funny when Sabrina was turned into a doll and then leading other people who have been turned into toys by Amanda to escape Amanda's toybox

Sabrina is a Doll Lovers Delight!
I loved this book! In my opinion it is the best of the series, any book with Sabrina on the cover has got to be good. The amusing plot of Amanda turning Sabrina into a doll thrilled and excited me. I loved how she solved the problem using quick wits to her advantage, and Amanda's disadvantage!

This is one of the most fabulous books that you will ever read. At about 100 pages it is a fast read. Too fast. Duveen is the most amazing art dealer that the world will ever see and Behrman tells the life story of this undeniably interesting man with quick wit.

Duveen's divine
Excellent biography of a forgotten man and his times - a man that changed the way Americans collected European art. Funny, witty and appallingly honest. A must read for anyone serious about art buying.

Edgar Beaver the Environmentalist
Edgar Beaver's Destiny is a great book for all ages. It is the story of an intelligent beaver who dislikes the way other beavers waste their resources. They chew down trees and they only eat a little of it, letting the bulk of the tree go to waste. They are also easily fooled by the traps that the hunters set out. Edgar repeatedly strains to make the other beavers see how important it is to conserve their resources and watch out for traps. But no matter how hard Edgar tries, he can't. Not even his own family thoroughly understands what he is trying to accomplish. Edgar thinks that if he can move to a new forest where there is an ample supply of resources he will be able to get his family to stop wasting. Maybe other beavers would even catch on too. If you want to find out what really does happen when Edgar gets to move you'll have to read the book. Kids will enjoy this story while learning about the environment. Adults will be captured by the way that the author integrated lots of ideas into one touching book. It's an interesting and informative story that has the ability to seize its readers till the very last page when Edgar finally meets his destiny.

Delightful Environmental Adventure!
Edgar Beaver's Destiny draws the reader into a delightful and interesting journey through the life of a young environmentalist who just happens to be a real live beaver! This charming novella works on multiple levels both entertaining and enlightening youthful readers of all ages. In a major shift from his earlier environmental works, Joe Petulla focuses his deep knowledge and feeling for building an environmentally sustainable society through the vehicle of a fable about a beaver colony. Young readers can learn the principles and values they need to shape a healthy future while riding a spine tingling roller coaster of adventure and fun with Edgar and his sweetheart Eula Mae. We can all benefit from reading this fast moving and well-written story of hope about the promise of "New Beeve" and harmony with Nature! Thank you Joe Petulla for writing this modern environmental classic!
