I have used this textbook for many Digital Logic courses over the past twenty-plus years, without hesitation. I am very disappointed that this text is available only on an 'Available on Demand' basis. Please don't ever discontinue this book.
There seems to be a tendency in America today to minimize the teaching of basics and fundamentals in favor of more high-tech aspects of engineering and science. It frustrates me that, even though the fundamentals never change, the fundamentals seem to get 'short shrift' in schools and colleges.
Could this be why the US produces fewer and fewer competent technicians and engineers, making it necessary to 'import' technicians and engineers from Europe and Asia?
Respectfully submitted,

Focusing on literary forgeries, he enlightens us to both the motives and the methods used by nine talented if devious men: George Psalamanzar, James Macpherson, Thomas Chatterton, Willim-Henry Ireland, John Payne Collier, George Gordon Byron, Vrain-Denis Lucas, Thomas James Wiese and Mark William Hoffman. While Rosenblum acknowledges that most of them worked for financial gain, the other complicated motives, fooling colleagues with whom they had grudges, manufacturing evidence to support a critical thesis, and just seeing if it could be done, make for interesting reading. I was especially fascinated with the first story in the book as George Psalamanzar manufactured 'information' about China and Formosa at t time when little actual information was available in Europe.
As a Sinologist by training, I have been much fascinated by early travel accounts of Europeans in the far East whose worldviews limited them interpreting the evidence before them in very peculiar ways.like the British who compared the 'red Indian's' to the Irish in the 18th and 19th centuries. George must have seem just as valid to his readers and auditors as many of those actual travelers, even though he had never left England. Rosenblum's introduction places these rogues in the context of other famous forgers, "From Antiquity to 1700", and reminds us that the current, financially-motivated reasons for forgery are time-bound. We think of literature too much as a financial property to really understand historical views of this activity such as 1) that it takes a great deal of talent to forge Shakespearean dramas such as did Ireland and Collier or to forge something in Ancient Greek or Latin that will be convincing to educated scholars. 2) That for many eras and civilizations plagiarism and forgery were considered a kind of compliment and the literary text was not separated from history, philosophy and other 'belles lettres' until very recently in the history of civilization.
While entertaining to read, then, Rosenblum's book is also extremely interesting and full of insights on the nature of authentication and the literary text. It should be required reading in library schools and graduate literary programs, and, I think, would be more useful and educational than many of the critical works that make up reading lists for MA's and Ph.D.s in our universities.

The HELP book series contains a broad range of activities. They are great filler material for current curriculum or better yet, use them as my teachers did to create your own meetings, classes and retreats. There is plenty of commentary and advice on creating prayer and community in each book.
Even the most experienced among us will probably find some surprises as they read along. In the "Prayer" book we found the creative and inexpensive "God Can" prayer which was a fine closing service where we could use all those empty aluminum cans we had collected after lunch at a recent retreat. And for my older teens I will be using the "Post Card Journals" found in the same book.
His major contribution was in the area of the development of the liturgy and the 'siddur' - the Jewish prayer book. His other major publications include glosses on Elbogen's groundbraking works on the liturgy as well as a collection of essays. These essays were culled from many different publications by one of his star students Avigdor Shinan.
This book traces the development of Jewish prayer in the time of the Mishna and the Talmud - ranging from approximately 70 CE to 550 CE. As this period was one of great sectarianism and revolt, to understand the prayer book (and the rest of the vast literary output of these generations) in its historical context is extremely important.
Heinemann, through a close analysis of primary texts - Mishna, Talmud, Midrash - describes the development of a secondary source - the prayer book. Additionally, since we are also talking about the time following the destruction of the Temple and the beginning of formalized Jewish prayer, the importance of this work can not be underestimated.
The translators of this work, as well as Elbogen's work, have performed an excellent service for the English speaking poublic who are interested in the development or organized Jewish prayer.

It touches one's spirituality said in such a beautiful and revealing way. Such a complex subject matter was made so simple that even a teenager could relate and understand.
At the time I read the book, that was 20 years ago, I was in the midst of confusion and turmoil - problems with in-laws, problems with adjusting to married life, etc.
Even after 20 years, I still read on the pages and each time, it brings me new insights and reflections. In fact, I would attribute partly the success of my 22 years of married life to the book. I would say that it has changed my way of viewing things and life itself. Every time I feel down and low, I could not help but read and reread the pages. As I ponder on the message, I know, this book must be God's Answer to my call for help and enlightenment.
The author seemed to be inspired by the Holy Spirit as he wrote the book. It is such a beautifully written manuscript that I would want to share it to the people I care most, to the people I owe gratitude, and to the people I love - my parents, my family, my close friends and relatives, specially those who are sick in mind and body. God has used this as a medium to communicate to me and show me his well-spring of graces to make me feel loved and cared for.
I thank the author for having allowed himself to be used as an instrument. May your tribe flourish. More power to you!!!
