This book rocks.
Great book. Actually, it was recommended by Amazon as I was unfamiliar with the author, but very interested in the topic. If you are in media, communications or marketing this book analyzes the industry in a very granular way - like looking under the hood. However, Turow does not get so lost in detail, he brings the big picture into focus suggesting the cultural implications of market segmentation, database marketing, media audience packaging and the rise of niche content media like cable TV, magazines and of course the Internet. Transient echoes of Marshall MacLuhan and Tony Shwartz's concept of narcissism. There's passive reference to Peppers & Rodgers concept of image tribes - what happens when everyone's information and entertainment is personalized or filtered by agents, i.e. media effectively throwing up a mirror? Great for marketers, but it does have major socio-political implications. Turow has done a great deal of primary research interviewing people from all aspects of the business. 100% all beef.

Genuine spiritual communication
I read this book the first time many years ago and was deeply moved and affected by it then. Reading it again, now, several decades later I became aware of how incredibly significant it is. The young artist whose thoughts are received by his sister and recorded by her, shows himself to be a deeply caring person who is given permission to convey information about the life after death that is astonishingly clear, precise and helpful. The straightforwardness of his ideas, the deep concern he shows for us, who are trying so desparately to understand our condition and the way he expresses his feelings about his experiences make it clear that this is a genuine communication. It is brought to us with love and without any hint of the vagueness or flowery language of some sources. Be prepared to have your mind illuminated and your soul nourished.

The only fitness test you will ever need
Being one of the first students to analyze and experience the BPFT was quite amazing. Not only because it was a chance to be a part of something new but mostly because I could see that this test will revolutionize physicial fitness testing. This is a collection of tests that can be used for able and disabled students with standards for both. The brilliancy of this work is that it fully allows you to customize a physical fitness test battery for nearly any student.

As a longtime devotee of Mari Gayatri I was eager to read "The Buddha Smiles". It is a great book - very funny - very enlightening. It is the kind of book you can pick up and open to any page and get just the right uplifting message you needed. I highly recommend it - very entertaining!
Buddhism and Asian History (Religion, History, and Culture)

Excellent compilation of key articles
The importance of the Buddhist movement for much of the Asian continent cannot be underestimated. This volume contains articles from the Encyclopedia of Religion charting the religion's history on that continent from its foundation to the present.
This approach, perhaps unavoidably, has a few weaknesses. Cross-regional trends in Buddhism and the influence of one region on another tend to be lost in the work's generally geographic organization. Most frustratingly, parentheses frequently refer the reader to other articles in the Encyclopedia which are not included in the volume. One could go look them up in a library which has the Encyclopedia of Religion, of course, but what it really means is that this is essentially a book for those interested in serious learning and who don't mind not being spoon-fed.

Highly Recommended!
The authors explore the practice of Buddhist acupressure (so named because it was taught to them by an old Buddhist monk). They provide an introduction to acupressure and its theoretical foundations, point locations, and basic massage techniques. The treatment therapies cover more than 75 common health conditions, ranging from abdominal cramps and arthritic pain to varicose veins and vomiting. All the techniques can be self-applied, making this a useful text for anyone initiating a self-care health regimen.

A delightfully active tale
Written and illustrated by Jo Mora, Budgee Budgee Cottontail is the lighthearted adventure of Budgee the bunny and his animal friends. Bushy, active color drawings illustrate a madcap story of an unlikely young rabbit smart enough to outwit bears and a Texas Longhorn. A delightfully active tale meant to be handed down the generations.
