Fr. Tetlow has written a truly invaluable guide to the Spiritual Exercises. It is obviously written for one who is going to guide another through the exercises, which is why I bought it, and in that respect alone the book is worth its weight in gold. But I also used the book to guide myself through the exercises and found it allowed me to open up to issues I would never have considered by using any of the other several books on the Exercises I have in my library. Fr. Tetlow has made a major contribution to the literature on the Exercises. I highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about leading others through the Exercises or who, due to their own circumstances, must go through the Exercises alone. I am sure Ignio is very pleased with this work.

"Choosing Christ in the World : Directing the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola According to Annotations Eighteen and Nineteen" is not a book to read, but to pray with and to prepare somebody for an at-home retreat. St. Ignatius Loyola knew that it is mostly impossible for lay people to follow a 30-day retreat and therefore designed the "Annotation Nineteen" that gives an opportunity for busy people to do the retreat individually and consult their retreat giver by mail, or now, by email. The book consists of guidance for the retreat giver (on the left pages), and the retreatants: the biblical texts and prayers to meditate on (on the right pages). The Spritual Exercises are really tough for the lay, but what I like most from this book is that it prepares the retreatants to come to a spiritual atmosphere which gradually moves them to be closer to God and enter the meditation and contemplation as required.

Ever hear something and think "who said that??" this book really brings emphasis to common sayings and their origins

I am reminded of a saying I once heard: People may come to dinner, but a true friend helps you wash the dishes. This book presents friends. I can picture Grandma as she tells stories of her childhood or humbly contemplates the meaning of the owl's call. She remains with me after the book is finished. This is a good book for those who need to see the beauty and small acts of kindness and generosity that are triumphant in the face of hardship.

This is an adorable, heartwarming Christmas story that I will treasure always.

This book catalogues the experiences of children who survived World War Two. That in itself is a stunning feat. But these weren't just children, these were Jewish children. They escaped from the Warsaw ghetto. The book follows the lives of the Sellers, both while within the ghetto and while they lived beyond it's walls. Being agile, and small, they were able to cross over the border into Gentile Warsaw and forage for food. They would bring the food back to their families, being the sole providers in a world designed not to provide. When the ghetto was liquidated, these children moved as they always had, into the city, but never moved back. The book follows their lives, their exploits and adventures, and their heartbreaks. It is a stunning book, not only for the subject matter, but for it's testament to the human spirit. These children didn't just survive. They lived.

NOT BEING A SAILOR OR KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT BOATS IT SEEMED VERY FRIENDLY AND INFORMATIVE AT THE SAME TIME. THE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHS ENHANCED THE INFORMATION RATHER THAN IGNORING THE INFORMATION AND CONCENTRATING ON THE PICTURES.

THIS BOOK IS FOR A SAILOR AND I THINK HE WILL ENJOY IT.
