This volume is a collection of speeches, letters, essays, articles, and addresses presented during the era of American Constitutional history. Debate over the ratification of the constitution was obviously a huge debate in historical political philosophy and this volume is a great testimony of that fact.
It seems that the Federalist papers have received more attention in the classroom and in table talk conversations due to men like Hamilton, Madison, and Jay, and their respective writings. But we should not neglect a well rounded reading of political history and skip over the writings of the Anti-Federalists (Henry, Cato, DeWitt, and Brutus. In fact, I have the Federalists Papers in a collection as well as this volume and the two make for a wonderful evening of reading.
Were it not for the Anti-Federalists we would not have the Bill of Rights, and thus their opposition should be seen in history as a necessary cause if for no other reason than their concern that the State governments and rights should have some protection against federal incursion. Here is a volume of collected writings which demonstrates why, in my estimation anyway, the United States had such a well rounded and firmly established form of government and political history. These pages demonstrate an America were freedom of speech and opinion rise to wonderful occasions. If you love American history, more specifically historical American political history, then you should not be without this text and these writings.
I recommend all of Joseph Altsheler's books, although Apache Gold is one of my favorites. All historical information in Altsheler's books is very acurate, and I like his strong heros.

I was warned by a graduating Electrical Engineering Senior to study Fourier Transforms before taking ECE-303, Signals and System theory. Quite simply, ECE-303 was the weeding course, because most students were struggling with the transforms while also trying to learn system theory. Fortunately, I heeded the senior's advice and picked up copy of "Applications ...". At the time, it was a bit much for my tight student budget, but it earned its keep. I read the book over the summer before the class. Because the book is so well written, I was able to digest it completely on my own. It has the greatest clarity I've seen on the topic. Having an Engineering disposition, I immediate consumed his explanations that tie things back to the "frequency content" view. I not only aced the class, but I really enjoyed it. It's what Engineering was about.
Here I am (fast forward 10 years) taking an Engineering Statistics class to get back into things. Low and behold, Weaver comes in again. In the advanced areas of studies in statistics I've picked up on references to the Fourier Transform in the topics of moments, moment generating functions, and the Central Limit Theorem. As it happens, Chapter 11, Stochastic Analyis covers this topic, and I've now got the concepts. Of course, I've had to re-read Chapter 3, The Fourier Transform, since it has been, after all, a great while since I applied them!

The book is nothing more than a catalogue but what an extraordinary catalogue it is! The photos of the renderings and models are top quality and really good choices by the author and editors. One can really see the watercolor techniques in the renderings along with the development of the design ideas Uban went through in his varied and prolific life as a designer. I really enjoyed the ddesigns and written text associated with the New School of Social Research. His work seems to be a precurser to Mondrian without the sterility of some of the Bauhaus concepts. His theatrical work really enlivened his architectural work.
His designs for the theatre were outrageous and vital.
I rate this book so very high because Urban's work is so important to stage design in America. As I said earlier, this book is a catalogue - but what a body of inspired and fantastical work to catalogue!
