Not that good
This book is a collection of a diverse set of Goya's works exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It includes a lot of Goya's famous works but not enough. If you want to see more of Goya's works, look else where. This book doesn't contain enough and that is why I gave it 2 stars.

anecdotal, and not very comprehensive, yet informative.
if you enjoy a lot of great pictures of doberman pinschers, then this is the book for you. it was a bit too brief on some key issues, such as proper puppy training and handling. also did not delve very far into breed specific maladies, such as color dilution alopecia, which is seen in blues. infomative, yet too brief.

The hole in the zero

Interesting, but unsuccessful
This book is filled with many wonderful ideas, but unfortunately it might be too many ideas.
In short, some space travellers enter an area of chaotic space, and find themselves shifting between layers of reality. The author pushes the characters through a variety of tales, ranging from 007 spy type adventures, sf, and sword and sorcery fantasy.
Concept-wise, it reminds me of Wilson's Schroedinger Cat Trilogy, displaying how different choices can shape our surroundings in a variety of ways. Ultimately, though, the author intrudes too much, dragging the characters through the tales instead of letting things play out in a natural way, leaving a disconnected and at times confusing narrative.
Although not entirely successful, the work is short enough that a reader interested in experitation with narrative forms might find a few nuggets here and there. A reader with more mainstream taste, though, would most likely not find it worth the effort.

This book is not worth it. You could find the same stuff on the net for 200 some less. It is very informative though, so I deem my copy worthy of 2 stars.

How to Write the Winning Brief: Strategies for Effective Memoranda, Brief, Client Letters, and Other Legal Documents

A few good nuggets in a dense, dry book.
This book focuses heavily on the writing process; it discusses pre-writing, free writing, revising, and editing at great length. But it does not discuss them in a brief or interesting way. I found the text sometimes repetitive, sometimes wordy, and frequently dry.

Plus, the non-process writing advice is either highly abstract or narrowly focused on a hypothetical scenario used throughout the book. So the advice is less than helpful in many respects. And though the text contains some gems, they are usually buried in long, dense paragraphs or blurred by a stiff and formal tone.

Human Nature and Other Sermons

better editions available
I ordered _Human Nature_ etc. hoping it was a reprint of Butler's _Fifteen Sermons Preached at Rolls Chapel_ under a different title. But it is abridged, and peculiarly edited. Unfortunately, I did not think of doing a review before I returned the book, and consequently did not make notes, so I cannot say which sermons were lacking, or what were the oddities I noted. But most readers will be happier with _Five Sermons_ published by Hackett, which is half the price.

Pippins to Crab Apples
The intranet vs. Lotus Notes is like comparing "the internal combustion engine vs. General Motors." Lotus Notes requires far less administration in a more secured environment without the "frankenstructure" of hacking conflicting standards together. This book is simply riding on the wave of anti-Lotus Notes yellow journalism that is very powerful in a sales pitch, but cannot yield substantial ROI on delivery.

Introduction to Mesoscopic Physics (Mesoscopic Physics and Nanotechnology, 2)

Mesoscopic jargong
If you need the vocabulary, the names, and the important references in the field of mesoscopic physics this is the book for you. If you want physical insight and understanding you must look elsewhere (god knows where?). All derivations start with some random non-fundamental formula and ends in another. Clarity and coherence seem far away.

This is not a kinematics book
This book covers only geometric analysis. Differential relationships, which distinguish kinematics from geometry, are not covered. Much of the book covers the geometry of an array of closed loop spatial mechanisms. This is useful if that is what you're interested in, but does not apply to serial linkages.

Not an adequate or satisfying introduction/technical manual.
After reading this book in one short sitting, I am unsure as to why the author wrote it. The book basically describes a step-by-step process of Kyudo with several anecdotes sprinkled here and there. The reader is provided with many technical details, but is left confused from the lack of a fluid overview of the subject matter. The few illustrations that do exist provided very little descriptive aid to the text. Noticeable aspects of the book are its tone and language. The writing style is both cumbersome and reminiscent of a 1940's technical manual. The author also assumes that the reader knows very little of the Japanese culture and beliefs. While this is not a fault, it is an ineffective assumption for such a short book. I assumed that the book was meant to be an introduction to Kyudo. In this regard, the book failed to accomplish its goal, leaving anyone interested in Kyudo to search for a more substantial and clear text.
