Loved by both my 2 year old and 6 year old
A wonderful fantasy with adventure and danger overcome.
After Matthew's mother finishes reading to him, Matthew's dragon comes out of the book and leads Matthew [now small] on a silvery trail out his window. They are menaced by a neighbor cat but escape when the dragon becomes big. They fly to join all other dragons in a magical songfest, then they both return to Matthew's room. A fanciful book with wonderful illustrations.

The best of my collection
Over the past three years, I have accumulated a small library of books on menopause, looking for answers to my many questions. This is the best of my collection. It's well researched, well written, and well indexed. Technical information is presented very clearly. The notes contain full bibliographical information for those who want to read the journals. All approaches to menopause - life style, dietary, herbal, botanical, HRT - are considered in detail, but no particular program is pushed. The authors' respect for their readers is evident throughout the book. It's a pleasure to recommend it to anyone needing information on this phase of life.
A thoughtful, complete, dynamic health guide for all women.
The Mayo's book The Menopause Manager is an insightful and thorough guide for women going through menopause and those who are preparing for this important life transition. As the founder and creator of HotFlash! the perimenopause/menopause web site, I interviewed both Mary Ann and Joseph Mayo. Their passion and drive to help women empower themselves with information and common sense is inspirational and pervasive. Their book offers new insights into how planning for menopause based on current health conditions, family health history, and the extent of menopausal sympotms can be both simple and effective.

Pioneer of the skies
In his time, the great Mermoz was loved and respected from Paris to Buenos Aires. In aviation's early days, he was on the front line to develop the air courier routes from France to Spain, and from there, to Africa and South America. In desperate conditions, he and the other pilots of what would become l'Aéropostale gave their life to build the foundations of modern day aviation. Masterfully written, it is not only an amazing true story of adventure, courage and friendship but also the inspiring tale of a hero

An impeccable work of scholarship
Methods And Styles In The Development Of Chemistry by Joseph S. Fruton (Eugene Higgins Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry and Senior Research Scholar in the History of Medicine at Yale University) is an informed and informative study of how human beings have conceptualized and evolved the science and art of chemistry, from Alchemy and the ancient wisdom of Greek philosophers to Antoine Lavoisier's immortal contribution to more recent revolutions in discovering the composition of elements, atoms, molecular structure, forces, and much more. An impeccable work of scholarship, Methods And Style In The Development Of Chemistry is commended as a thoroughly engaging journey through both the complex history and evolving science of chemistry.
Another Fruton Gem---Chemical Heritage magazine
We are already indebted to Joseph Fruton, the distinguished Yale University biochemist, for several excellent monographic works on the history of chemistry, including outstanding studies of the research schools of Justus Liebig and others. Here he offers us a lively interpretive summary of the entire history of chemistry, with a particular focus on a theme that he has explored in the past, namely research styles.
In truth, his subject is essentially nineteenth-century European chemistry. Just 33 pages at the beginning of the book take us from Pythagoras to Lavoisier; another 40 pages at the end summarize twentieth-century developments to about 1960. In addition to the chronological emphasis on the nineteenth century, Fruton also understandably pays particular attention to his previous concentrations, the history of organic and biochemistry. After Lavoisier, he treats "Atoms, Equivalents, and Elements," "Radicals and Types," "Valence and Molecular Structure," "Stereochemistry and Organic Synthesis," "Forces, Equilibria, and Rates," and "Electrons, Reaction Mechanisms, and Organic Synthesis."
Professor Fruton has had a long and varied career, and intensive acquaintance with the history of chemistry. His reading of both the primary and secondary literature is wide-ranging and conscientious, and he has written voluminously and attractively on many subjects in the field. It would therefore be most interesting to read in this summary work his considered opinions and generalizations regarding research methods and styles in chemistry. However, he draws back from such a general analysis. Impressed with the great diversity of personalities and styles in the history of chemistry, he suggests that "[b]road generalizations drawn from the careers of the chemists considered in this book are therefore likely to be wrong ..." (pp. 241-42). But his reticence does not extend to judgments of individual matters, on which he is exceedingly frank. He is doubtful, for example, of the reputation "of Lavoisier as the revolutionary founder of modern chemistry, [and] of Liebig as the greatest chemist of the nineteenth century." In terms of overall scientific merit he elevates Wöhler above Liebig, Laurent above Gerhardt, and Wurtz above Dumas (p. 242). Such candor is refreshing, even if historians might disagree with his judgments.
What we might have hoped for is a fuller justification of these judgments. Fruton provides just six pages of prefatory and other preliminary matter before plunging into ancient history, and just five pages of concluding observations after dispensing with the twentieth century. Moreover, both Foreword and Conclusion end disconcertingly abruptly. Some chapters also have occasional jumpy transitions, suggesting that the book might have benefited from one final revision before going to press.
The strength of the book is in its appealing engagement with the history of chemistry. It would certainly be an attractive choice as a first introduction to the field, from one of the finest living scientist-historians.

Boring and Important
Are TCP/IP protocols and services fun topics? No. This is not a "fun" book. But, if you need to know how an IP protocol works, this is a great source. Davies and Lee cover the critical protocols in deeply and understandabley.
A great update
The original book for Windows 2000 was a great look at the underlying TCP/IP protocols. None of the how to set it up or manage it - just a no nonsense look at the underlying protocols. This approach is continued in this useful update.
Well worth the price!

Outstanding primer for novice...reference for expert
The average Westerner has far too little knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa and the author offers a superb and timely analysis of this area. His style of posing questions, both geographical and cultural/political, then answering them in detail gives the reader, both novice and expert, information rarely seen in one tome. Dr. Weatherby's description of the ancient history of the area and how it relates to the present is brought to life by his photography and the detailed maps.
It's hard to imagine a more readable and informative text on the subject.
Enthralling and Pertinent
This is the first book I have found that explains the politics, religions, and cultures of this region in language that I can understand. The writing is vivid and clear. The book uses a historical perspective, which really helps the current events make sense. I gained a new perspective on terrorism. The importance of western colonialism is well covered. Good maps are used effectively. Interesting pictures are included, most of which were taken by the author. Another noteworthy feature is a chapter containing capsules about each of the more than 20 countries covered. This is a handy reference when reading about world events. The book is a good primer for an ordinary person wanting to understand factors affecting world affairs.

"As it had done every day for a hundred years, the rising...
sun slipped through a tiny opening in the side of the mountain and illuminated the face of a dead man." This tome provides a ficticious insight into the life of Leonardo da Vinci in contemporary American society. A family is touched by the genius and humility of this Renaissance man for a summer. They learn to live, love, and judge in entirely new ways. A must read for young adults. A touching altruistic novel indeed.
Positive, accurate behavioral world view
Joe Wyatt has written a novel in the great utopian literature tradition. What would Leonardo, perhaps one of the most well-rounded and intelligent men of the past, think of our modern world? The science and technology have advanced, but what about humanity's view of itself in the world? Wyatt leads us through a quite intelligent and thought-provoking journey. I believe B.F. Skinner and H.G. Wells would have been proud.

Celebrating Miss Bindergarten
One of my 4-year-old's absolute favorites, and educational to boot. The illustrations are especially good. We love Miss Bindergarten!
Terrific for the classroom!
Thank you again, Joseph Slate and Ashley Wolff!!! From a teacher's perspective, Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten is a wonderful follow-up to Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten. Slate's rhythmic, repetitive language make for a perfect read-aloud that children can participate in. Wolff's detailed illustrations reveal much time spent in REAL classrooms. Children will love seeing the similarities between their own classrooms and the beloved Miss B's. I'll certainly be reading this to my own Kindergarteners on our 100th Day celebration, and I encourage other teachers to do so as well!

I think every child at some point dreams of a dragon. It's magical powers, it's ability for flight. "Matthew's Dragon" brings to life, that dream.
It is truly magical and wonderful, with a great hero dragon and an enemy cat.
Enjoy it, my family did.
