Bee Venom: The Natural Curative for Arthritis and Rheumatism

Broadman on bee venom therapy
I am glad to see this classic of bee venom therapy back in print. Broadman was a physician who lived and worked as an internist in New York City. After a lifetime of frustratingly being unable to really provide any help to patients with arthritis (all that was available were steroids)he came across bee venom therapy. He was so taken with the results he wrote this book.
Dr. Broadman shares his personal experiences with hundreds of patients and also generously provides many valuable and currently unavailable articles including all his journal articles on the topic. All in all, a very powerful work. It also has a great index and bibliography for further learning if one is so inclined. The book is also very nicely produced on good paper with sharp, readable type. There is a new 1997 intro to this edition, too.

Before the Jets
This is an excellent book written by someone who obviously was there and lived the life. The characters may be "fictional" but the details and experiences seem very real. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in knowing what was aviation was like "Before The Jets".

Father Shamon captivates the reader from the very first word. He brings meaning to the mystery of the Mass. A must read for anyone who wants to understand the Catholic Mass and know where to go for God's graces, how to thank God and appreciate Christ's suffering and death on the Cross. Blew My Mind
I took this book on retreat with me and it blew my mind. My perspective on my faith increased many fold. However, this book is not for everyone. This is not a light, warm and fuzzy spiritually book. This is a book for scholars. Cardinal Ratzinger goes into some deep theology, but if you can hang in there with him, you'll get a much greater understanding of concepts such as original sin, the Eucharist, Jesus' prayer life, the Easter Mystery, etc. If you're ready to do the work for the spiritual ride of your life, buy it!

I know my mission in life
God only selects a few good men. That's why this book is great.
I see now that God hates me, but that he loves others. I'm glad he does, or this world would be a sad place to live.

Healing the Western Mind
The artworks and political ideas of German artist Joseph Beuys are deeply discussed into this interesting book. In the 1960's, Joseph Beuys was an underground name in the American artworld, but his reputation preceeded him. Beuys had controversial feelings towards the US. His first art project in the United States, the action I Like America and America Likes Me, took place at Block's gallery in 1974. For this performance, Beuys traveled to Manhattan wrapped in felt, and then spent a week with a coyote, engaging it in a number of ritualistic encounters. For the 1987-88 exhibition at Dia Center for the Arts (New York), Lynne Cooke wrote... "as he consolidated a philosophy aimed at a revolution in both mind and body through an art devised to effect social and political transformation, he increasingly engaged in public pedagogy, language itself becoming for him an aesthetic medium. "

A book that changed my life
The situations Dr. Martorano talks about in this book made me feel like it had been written about me. It's amazing how many people there are with my exact same problems and situation. I thought it was just great. Plus, The instructions he and Dr. Kildahl gave were easy to follow and have really made a difference

war shirts were given to the men of the plains nations for remarkable courage and character and for impressive deeds. the shirts would be transferred to other men of equal standing. the designs were worked by women who were unusually talented in quill and bead embroidery. occasionally, the design of the shirt would be directed by the man to wear it, based on his dreams/visions.
since it is oversized, the book allows larger, more detailed photos of the shirts. quillwork, paint, beads and other materials show up clearly. the workmanship is stunning, the designs are magnificent. the use of materials is inspirational. the examples range from the early 19th century to contemorary shirts.
the text, aside from a couple of areas where the proofreader failed miserably in his job, is almost as interesting as the shirts. this is not to insult the authors. no words could equal the shirts. there are also quotes from contemporary indians about the shirts that are interesting and illuminating.
if this book had been published by abrams, the price would have been at least doubled. given the quality of the photos, that fact alone is worth a couple of stars.
this is a must for anyone interested in indian beadwork, history or art and for anyone interested in beauty and great design of any origin.
