Really good
This pleasantly plump book (almost 480 pages!) is crammed full of riddles, knock-knocks, jokes, verses, put-downs and tongue twisters. My eleven-year-old daughter got this book, since she is quite a wit, and she loves it. It has lots of really good jokes and whatnot in it, and has proved to be a source of hours of entertainment. She and I both highly recommend this book to you.

A great read. Find a copy if you can!
I have read and re-read this book many times in the past 10 years. Joseph was my instructor in London and I was fascinated by the journals of his journey to Africa. The book is laid out to both tell a story and to provide factual details and findings. The odd chapters are the story and are incredible. I really love this book with its colorful imagery and lifelike characters.

Never mispronounce a Biblical word again!
Don't you just hate it when the lector mangles the pronunciation of a city or a person?

Our Sunday Visitor's helpful "Lector's Guide to Biblical Pronunciations, Updated" should be on the bookshelf in every sacristy.

Originally published in 1975, this revised version was necessary in light of the new translation of the Roman Lectionary approved in 1998. It contains more than 100 new words and also allows the lector to look up confusing words in one of two ways. Lectors can either look a word up in the alphabetical listing of words at the end of the book, or they can look up difficult words based upon the readings in a particular year and season. The only drawback to the latter is that a great many lectors may not know what year (A, B, or C) the Church is in.

Legacy of glory; the Bonaparte kingdom of Spain, 1808-1813

a challenging study in the folly of political obsession
Michael Glover paints a compelling portrait of the blind pursuit of fantastic political ends. Napoleon overthrew the Bourbon royal house of Spain even though it was the only significant ally which had never gone to war against him. The emperor's reasoning (such as it was) is presented by the author with due regard for his sources. Glover shows us Napoleon writing to Marshal Murat explaining in detail why an invasion of Spain cannot possibly succeed. On the same day as he penned this letter, Napoleon offered the Spanish crown to his older brother, Joseph. The results of this folly are presented in a superbly paced and meticulous narrative. King Joseph appears as a well-meaning incompetent. The French military commanders in Spain are presented as quasi-independent satraps, motivated by combinations of greed, lust for power, and mutual jealousy. Behind events are the figures of Napoleon and Wellington - the former trying to control Spanish affairs from as far away as Poland - the latter taking real control by remaining on the scene. Events build to a climax which seems both tragic and inevitable. Anyone interested in the Napoleonic period will benefit by this book. But more than that, Michael Glover presents a story which transcends a particular time and place to show us the folly resulting from any obsession which blinds political leaders to reality.

the legend of a holy drinker
a small masterpiece that could not get its due recognition in the literary world.but this is a star created by a genius (a literary genius of rare and exceptional creative ability).so much of life so much of spirit so much of the realities of naked life these forty odd pages that are enough to experience the life in its totality-its soft and beautiful oasis that everybody runs behind.it is on this oasis that life is building up.no work is comparable with this one that emphasis the importance of the dream in life.there is a lot to understand from these forty pages .magical realism is a real realism here.the foundations of individual life is surely made with dreams.magic of dreams in life..only a genius of very very exceptional calibre can create an "andreas"(main charecter) who is so much down to earth and life and who goes thru a series of miracles.the book is about 70 years old but the fragrance is still fresh and will be fresh ever.a real writer is a plesure to read and experience.rarely we can see a philosophical novel written in so simple words.the mixing of reality and dream so that we are unable to differentiate what is what;but we know this is life.our life.my life.if we are reading for the first time we regretfully close the book that we found the book, the writer rather late.powerful, touching and delightful little gem of a novel.....dream land anyway is a reality...more real than the real...the tale or legend of andrea is not thrust upon the reader but left lingering in the mind...every reader will not forget this book by a genius.everybody will get somthing from this book..

Legend of the Lost Josephine Mine by Joseph R. Young
This is a fantastic book. Great for all ages. It takes a good book for me to stay interested, but I could not put this one down. From the first page to the last I was totally intrigued. I was taken back to my own childhood and the fantasies from those golden days when my father would tell me stories such as this one.

The story of the boy mysteriously finding himself in the time of pirates, treasures, and ships, is so enticing and exciting. To imagine that in the mist of all this he finds true freindship and love is so incredible. I loved the mystery of the mine, the treasure, the pirates. Especially old Split Eye. He is a fantastic character in this book. I also like the way the author "keeps you on your toes" with this book. He keeps it going, making it fun and easy to read.

I highly reccomend this book for all ages. I have read it with my 8 and 12 year old. They loved it. It's a book that can by enjoyed by the whole family.
