En excellent book for the science-interested student
This book gives a very thorough explanation of most of the things that surrounds us. It is very easy to understand due to the many examples, and yet manages to maintain very cogent. It does not require much math read this book, since this is explained as the book moves along, and is needed.

They should never stop publishing this book!!!
This is an excellent book for the first time physics student. It is very "straight to the point" when it comes to explaining physics concepts. This book does not waste time talking about senseless theroy that gets you no where. It tells the concepts of physics clearly and it has EXCELLENT examples to illustrate the concepts that it tries to explain. It has plenty of clear and concise examples. It probably has at least 12 to 15 examples per chapter witch is VERY excellent!!!!

Additionally, this book comes with a GREAT student solutions\help manual. The student solutions\help manual helps explain the concepts even more clearly thus giving you a better understanding of such a difficult subject.

I've seen this book has been around for a long time. I can see why this textbook has been around for a long time because of its superiour quality. I hope this book is still around for students in the future 50 years from now.

A great book.

A good, realistic horsie book.
This book is a nice little story about a horse-crazy boy who has to deal with the fact that his family has no way to buy or keep a horse. He keeps his hopes up, and to the dismay of his parents, his eccentric uncle has a Fjord pony delivered to his house. This is the story of how the boy, his friends and his two siblings work to keep the horse. It is fairly modern, pretty realistic, and could actually happen today. It is nicely written and a good read.

How Do You Like Horses???...
Gift Horse
By Betty Levin

Have you ever wished for a horse? Well, in this book a boy named Matt has his wish come true! Matt asks his uncle Oliver for a horse and he gets a horse! But where will Matt put him? There are so many questions, so Matt and his siblings enter a contest. Will Matt win? Also, Matt needs to think, and fast! Matt's parents call a horse owner about Matt's horse! What will he do? Read Gift Horse by Betty Levin to find out!

I like this book because I love horses. Also it made me jealous because Matt gets a horse.

I think the main idea /lesson is that you should never give up on yourself, because if you give up on yourself you might never have the chance to achieve your goals.

Great for beginning bible study
I picked up this book a few years ago. I found it a wonderful way to read and study the Bible. I read along with my Bible and Rohr's easy to understand and engaging commentary. I reccommend this to beginners to Bible study and for a refreshing new look at the Bible

Unlocking the Keys to Scripture
I am quite a reader of Rohr and other Catholic books. This is one of Rohr's best or any other Catholic writer for that matter. He truly unlocks the keys to the New Testament in this book. I understand so much more of the New Testament when I read it! Wish I could see him or write him in person.

Entertaining and illuminating
An enjoyable book, nicely illustrated, which gives concise and interesting insights into some of the topics that exercised Americans in the 1920s and early 1930s: immigration, political radicalism, prohibition, crime and delinquent social behavior, the debate between creationism and science, and so on. I would have welcomed, in one or two chapters, slightly more detail from the trials themselves, and sometimes the overall historical context is a little thinly sketched. However, this is popular history, not some bone-dry academic thesis, and it works very well at that level.

Fascinating glimpse into the legal landscape of the 1920s
This book manages to stay lively while giving both the social and historical context and details of the trials themselves. The narrative is informed but not ponderous, in fact, at times it almost conversational in tone. The trials selected encompass a broad array of issues from those times, ranging from sports scandles to organized crime to military heroes to xenophobia to science and creation. Each entry is long enough to give the reader a real good feel for the issues surrounding the case, but short enough to keep the pacing fast and enjoyable. I recommend it highly.

Handy but not complete
The Modern Language Association (MLA) is the recommended style guide for most documentation in research papers. However, some require The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. This guide, though very short, gives the basics of both. It is too brief to give a complete analysis of the larger, more expensive guides, but it is a handy reference for the basics. If you can afford the complete versions, your bookshelf should contain them if you intend to write academic or research papers. The price on this shortened guide makes it a handy reference for those who can't afford the larger books or who want a handy version to carry with them.

MLA Documentation Help At Last.
This book is very helpful for research papers. My son's school requires this style of documentation, but they don't provide much help in regards to how to do it. So I browsed the internet looking for help, but there aren't many websites that will tell you everything you need to know. So I ... found this book. I bought it for a price that is cheaper than those large books. I believe that you won't need the large books becaquse most research papers only require the basics, but if you are doing a very large research paper, one of those books might be needed. This book has the basics on how to document many types of sources and it's ...price makes it easy because we have no worries about loosing it. If you are looking for some help with MLA Documentation, and just want the basics and nothing complicated, moreadvanced, look into the bulkier, more expensive books.

Very easy to read yet very effective
This book was an easier read than many hypnosis books on the market. There are also many relaxation scripts to help get beginners started. I have been exposed to many types of hypnosis practices and I must say that I like self-hypnosis the best, but I do feel that some exposure to a professional can be very beneficial. I have been using this book as an aid for about 4 months and I must say the changes are indescribable. I have lost weight (a lot!), become more disciplined in my studies and have a more rewarding relationship with my boyfriend of 4 years. Also, since the suggestions are my own that I am giving, then I am not as prone to accept suggestions from others and as result, I am more aware of negative energy amongst other people and don't take it on. This is a great book and in conjuction with other tools such as relaxation, some exposure to personal therapy, it can/will have amazing effects and the that is the truth!

Healing yourself with self-hypnosis
If you care about yourself and well being, this book is for you! The book is easy to read and enjoyable. You can apply self-hypnosis to almost anything in your daily life. There's no magic in hypnosis, it's all about the positive attitude and response. The book in general has very good tips on how to relax and have a better way to live.

Heart Of a Chief
Chief vs. Casino
I read Heart of a Chief. It is about a boy named Chris Nicloa. Chris is nervous because he is about to start his first day of middle school. Chris, to his surprise, becomes class leader and is very popular to the people in the school. He discovers that his town leaders have decided to place a casino on his island Penacock Indian Reservation. He decides to stand up for himself and class mates for what he believes in and to get the casino built somewhere off the island.
I think this a very good book because it shows someone with a lot of courage doing what he believes in. This book gives the mind encouragement in doing what's right. It makes you think anything is possible and worth trying. Chris is really bright and smart and does things that most people would be too scared to do. This is a heart-warming story that I think everyone can relate to in the end.

Beautiful, Sensitive, Heart-warming
Joseph Bruchac presents a vivid and heart-warming story about the life of a contemporary Native American boy living between the wrenching descrimination and exploitation of his People and the beauty and peace of his home. I do not profess to know much about the Native American lifestyle, but I would trust any book Bruchac writes. His book has given me an authentic and sensitive picture of one boy's struggle to balance his heritage with the pressures of life on and off the reservation. I can now only imagine how this story is familiar to many people in the U.S. Beautifully written.

Smart kid plays dumb, life gets complicated
This was my favorite of Krumgold's books. I prefer it over Onion John or And Now Miguel. Perhaps this is because it is about a smart kid, and I was a smart kid.
Henry's ambitious dad wants everybody in the family to act so as to be a credit to himself - he seems to see his whole family as an extension of himself - even as a child I thought him immature and selfish. But he doesn't come into the story all that much, until the end.
The story starts when Henry's dad is transferred to a new town. Henry decides to hide his high intelligence at his new school - to "play dumb" or at least "play average" so as to be accepted by the other kids. His plan goes astray almost at once when he hooks up with the class bully and makes a bargain with him. This leads to a very complicated situation at school, and things get more mixed up from there. Everything comes to a head when there is a disaster in the town. The disaster brings out both the best and the worst in the town people, including Henry and his dad. I don't want to give away too much plot here, but the story was fascinating to me at the age I first read it (10 years old).

Reprint this book!
This is a wonderful book that preaches a real value system amidst the backdrop or consumer-driven Long Island.

The book explores cliques, family values, and suburbia in a way that no other ever has.

It's a 'Catcher in the Rye' for suburban values.

It's well written, the plot moves along well, and has lots of ingenious devices to intrigue young minds.
