This a great book.
This is a great book. It has lots of excellent diagrams which clearly explain complex topics in vascular ultrasound. Dr Polak is a world famous expert on vascular ultrasound and has written numerous papers in the medical literature on vascular ultrsound. He supervises a vascular ultrsound lab and is also an invasive radiologist who uses vascular ultrasound for performing procedures such as venous access, TIPS, and thrombolysis. He has taught hundreds of physicians and technologists about vascular ultrasound at Harvard Medical School. This book covers arterial and venous ultrasound from head to toe and is highly recommended. This is the best book ever written on vascular ultrasound that I am aware of. I am a physician and supervisor of the vascular lab at my hospital.

A monumental work
This is a monumental work by an author who made six trips to Argentina, and also traveled to Spain and Panama, while researching this book. The author refers to Juan Peron as the most remarkable and enduring leader in Latin American history. The author proceeds to describe this remarkable career, following Peron from his humble birth in rural Argentina, to his military training, to the Presidency (1946), exile, and return to Argentina in the early 1970s where he would die in office. Brief mention is made of Isabel's tragic and short reign as President after the death of her husband. Extensive information is also available regarding Peron's relationship with Eva Peron ("Evita"), with a few chapters devoted to her. A section of photographs is available as well.

The author's description of Juan Peron is comprehensive and complex, and may therefore be best suited for someone already very familiar with Peron and contemporary Argentine history. If you are looking for a more brief and succinct historical rendering of Peron's career, you may want to look elsewhere, perhaps to JUAN AND EVA PERON by Clive Foss. My favorite biography of Juan Peron is PERON AND ENIGMAS OF ARGENTINA by Robert D. Crassweller. Crassweller explains in PERON AND THE ENIGMAS OF ARGENTINA that Peron was a product of the "Hispanic Creole" tradition, and that all his successes and failures can be seen within the context of that culture, and in many ways were *shaped* by that culture. In fact, Crassweller argues that Peron's real talent was his keen insight into the culture, his keen intuition in understanding how to reach out to and unify as many different segments of Argentina as possible. While Joseph Page does attempt to provide cultural insight, he does not succeed to the extent that Crassweller does.

Joseph Page comes to a conclusion that may surprise many: that Juan Peron was a pacifist at heart; "He steadfastly rejected violence as an open instrument of policy." Page also points out the irony that Peron, once considered by some as a "South American Hitler," would have never plunged or plundered his country into war, and that it was the men who ousted Peron who went on to kill thousands of people.

Pershing and His Generals : Command and Staff in the AEF
Published in Hardcover by Praeger Publishers (December, 1997)
Author: James J. Cooke
Amazon base price: $64.95
Average review score:

Important study of the AEF.
The Great War found the United States unprepared, as is our custom. Excluding the Spanish American War debacle, we had never really fought overseas, and there was no one in the American military in 1917with any experience in the command or management of large formations. Fortunately there was John J. Pershing, who not only had the organizational skills but the political strength to build and hold together the new armies. Pershing's Herculean tasks of finding new leadership and eliminating deadwood, training the troops (and their leaders!), tapping civilian talent for special skills, organizing new staff functions and assimilating new technologies, so reminiscent of World War II, are well described here in Cooke's usual clear and workmanlike narrative; in a work essential for the World War I bookshelf and of interest to the general reader as well.

Mrs.
Have you ever thought about things and creatures that ARE around though people might not be able to touch them with their fingers and see them with their eyes? Do you want to know about life after death?
This is a book that helped me realize a lot of the life and feelings that go further my phisical sensitivity, but things that my mind senses are true and real though beyond my fingers to touch and my eyes to see.

Spiritual Classic
Saint Ignatius was a Basque military officer from Loyola, a great saint, and the founder of one of the most influential religious orders in world history: the Society of Jesus(the Jesuits). His personal writings reveal a truly gentle, emotional man who gave up all the pleasures of nobility to become a poor, wretched pilgrim for the sake of Christ. His Reminisces recounts all the main events of his life, from his bravery in the battle that left him crippled for life, to his conversion in his recovery bed, and finally to his founding of the Jesuit order. His journal reveals his spirituality and describes his mystical experiences, his letters reveal his patience, wisdom, and kindness, and his tremendously popular Spiritual Exercises gives advice on how to dedicate your life to God and see His action all around you. Ignatius's writings resonate with the tender devotion and the firmness of purpose found only in the writings of the Saints. Reading this book, one can see the guiding hand of Providence in the life of Ignatius and in the history of the Church, a hand that can use even the worst sinner to bring a shattered world back to His Son.

don't leave home without reading it
This is a very good book! It explains the development of a person's personality since infancy. The pathologies that could result from a very dysfunctional upbringing is likewise presented in clear and simple terms that makes it easy to understand. I strongly recommend this book, not only for the students of psychiatry but for anyone who wants to understand what makes up his/her personality!

Readily adaptable to instruction for the general audience and eminently practical with illustrations for many basic and more complex perspective problems, the text is well organized as well as intertaining. I have used this text to teach perspective in high school drawing classes for 15 years.

Editor's remarks
the following is copy from the jacket copy of the book which, as one of the book's editor's, I thought would be useful to potential buyers.

"Perspectives on Early Modern and Modern Intellectual History" brings together several disciplines and historical periods, and three generations of scholars to celebrate the pedagogical and scholarly career of Nancy Struever, who taught in the Humanities Center and Department of History at The Johns Hopkins University. Twenty-three essays reflect the breadth of disciplinary competence and the standards of scholarly rigor that Struever instilled in her students and demonstrates in her scholarship. The book is organized around three divisional areas of inquiry: Renaissance Humanism, Histories of Art, and Rhetorics, Philosophies, and Histories. The first part includes studies on Shakespeare and Ariosto; essays on Machiavelli, Caterina da Siena, and Lorenzo Valla; and Manetti on the library of Nicolas V. The section on histories of art contains contributions on L.B. Alberti, on early modern spectacle and the performance of images, and on rhetoric and art. The third section continues with discussions of rhetoric, history, and literature from a more theoretical viewpoint. The book concludes with a bibliography of Struever's works. Authors include: Marvin Becker, Marjorie O'Rourke Boyle, Salvatore Camporeale, F. Edward Cranz, Elizabeth Cropper, Marc Fumaroli, Thomas M. Greene, Michael Ann Holly, J.G.A. Pocock, Charles Trinkaus, and Hayden White.

Excellent Source for the Backyard Observer
If you're a backyard or weekend wildlife observer, this is the perfect book for you. Put it in your backpack, pocket, glove box or camper and always be ready to identify! The illustrations are excellent and provide enough detail to know one similar frog from another. If you're looking for some biological detail, go for a bigger book, but this one is great for quick ID.

Very good book!
This book was awesome! I really liked it. It was very suspensful. Four girls move away from their hometown and make a pact to return to their favorite hangout in six years. When they get to the Waxhouse it is boarded up and they break the window to get in. The girls are frightened by the wax figures in the dark. When the figures keep on being moved the girls know someone is in the house with them. They try to get out but someone has put pad locks on all the doors. Someone who wants to hurt the girls.
