Scientific Vampires with Bad AttitudesI like the difference!!
Highly recommended. Give the book a try -- if you're like me, you'll want more!

Good stories, bizarre introductionWhile sexuality is a major part of the mystique of the vampire, Ms. Gladwell does her readers a disservice by concentrating on it to the exclusion of all other considerations; also, by treating the stories as supporting material for her essay rather than the other way around. In comparison, Christopher Frayling's anthology 'The Vampyre: Lord Ruthven to Count Dracula' has a much more balanced and informative introduction.
WOW!

Change of Course

Another fine work from a true poetic master.Warren's penultimate book of poetry, published as he was nearing eighty, is less something to be criticized or examined as it is to be learned from. Warren, seventy-five at the time of this long poem's writing, had been in the game for over a half century, had won the Pulitzer three times (as well as most other major prizes known to man), and was one of the last century's most influential writers on many fronts. Forget nitpicking, and just learn from one of the few Americans who has truly earned the title of "master" in the poetic realm. ***
Beautiful & poignant monument to a slaughtered man of peace.

Heart-warming
Powerful enough to overcome images of the movieDavid, Clara, Bill and Leona are all deeper and more vivid characters in the book. Though I loved the movie version, the written words prove to be much more compelling. As usual, the movie edits out the incredible words written by Olshan. Though parts of the movie are taken word for word from the book, much of the story and significant passages are missing in the movie.
Having owned the movie for many years and after repeated viewings, I really wasn't too enthusiastic about reading the book. But once I started reading the novel, I couldn't put it down. It was as if I was reading something totally new, even though I assumed I would find it completely familiar.
It's no surprise the novel is far superior to the movie, though as movies go, the movie version isn't bad. If you can have only one version of Clara's Heart....take the book!
