Best law textbook on property you can get!
If you are looking for a property text, you cannot do better than this book. It is not only the best property textbook published right now, it is one of the finest legal textbooks I have had to read.

The writing is clear and comprehensible, and the cases are well chosen: provocative while remaining good examples of Black Letter Law.

My property class was the only section using Singer's book, and we are the only section that actually enjoyed the area of property law. This was not a coincidence.

You don't need a professor to teach you property law ...
... all you need is this textbook! Logically organized, comprehensive and explains complex concepts in a down-to-earth, easy-to-understand manner. The emphasis on the policy behind the rules is also extremely helpful. You won't need to buy a commercial outline with this book.

This is the best casebook I have ever read.
The true greatness of this casebook is that it renders hornbooks and other guides superfluous. It is a truly great casebook in an area of the law I thought would bore me to death. It is so good it makes some of those New Jersey cases almost palatable.

Wonderful commentaries
I enjoy these commentaries very much, I have one problem though, I do not have the comeentary on John. Where could I find a single commentary out of this collection??

Publius_1776@justice.com

The price.
I think the commentary is the best. I don't own it personally, my cousin has the 23 volume-set. It is very helpful, and I love the various homilies by the different authors to give a different perspective. However, it is a little pricy. When will it ever go on sale again?

ONE THE GREASTEST COMMENTARY EVER WRITTEN.
This is not a reveiw,I'm trying to locate volume 22,if you or someone else could find this volume of oringnal set of 1950,I'll would deeply appeciate it THANK'S.

Great, Vivid Characters
Rascal Money is truly a hidden treasure, Garber does a much better job of giving us the backgrounds of the characters than he does in Vertical Run. A must read

A hilarious and witty story of a corporate take over
A successful computer manufacturer was enjoying its success when a hostile take ober bid by a Japanese Giant conglomerate took place . The pace of the story quicken as the management of the computer firm tries to rescue the company before the date-line.It was near impossible as their counter parts had thought of every counter measure. The one thing that slipped from their mind tilted the scale . How is for you to find out . Joseph Garber has wriiten another catch - 22 !

A hilarious look at Wall Street - yet a believable one.
A very unnoticed book - a rare treasure, in my opinion. The story follows the rise of a company called "Pegasys", a fledgeling computer company at a time when IBM dominates the computer world. Pegasys, founded by Scott Thatcher, (a man whose character reminds me strangely of another famous American businessman), is able to survive and prosper because at the brink of bankruptcy, one group buys their product - the Teamsters. Follow this book as it goes about sex, lies, and hostile takeovers. (If you read Vertical Run, you'll know who some of the characters are - people you either may have loved or loathed.)

Great recipes, plus food for thought
This coookbook has many great recipes, but I really enjoy reading the historical anecdotes that accompany each section. What a fun way to learn about our heritage!

An elegant compilation of superbly presented recipes
The Roux We Do is an elegant compilation of superbly presented recipes that would be highly recommended for any family meal or celebratory dinner. From Black Bean Bundles; Tuscan White Onion Soup with Crostini; Applewoood Fresh Fruit Salad; Honey Hoisin Pork Tenderloin with Blue Cheese Cream Sauce; and Pistachio Crusted Salmon with Madras Curry and Orange Sauces; to Chicken Caprese with Tomato Basil Cream; Pasta with Chicken and Pepper-Cheese Sauce; Roasted Garlic Potato Salad; Acorn Squash in Honey Bourbon Sauce; and Chocolate Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, the diverse recipes comprising The Roux We Do are as impressive as they are mouth-wateringly delicious!

The Roux We Do
This is a wonderful cookbook as well as a very interesting book of history back to the early 1800's and the Pony Express era. Recipes are awesome, some very easy to cook and some very challenging, but all ohh so good. My husband has even enjoyed experimenting with the recipes.
The most interesting part of this book is the side bars with great trivia, past and present regarding the Northwest Missouri area and its contribution to America's history. With items about the Pony Express, Jesse James, Eugene Field the poet, etc.
The French Toile (yellow and black) cover is very eye pleasing and looks great on the counter at home.
Can't say enough about this book - great to cook from and read.

The Ratzinger report : an exclusive interview on the state of the Church
Published in Unknown Binding by Ignatius Press ()
Author: Joseph Ratzinger

Used price: $8.00
Average review score:

Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger: A Man of the Church
Here is a charming book containing the insights of one of the greatest theologians of the age, an architect of the Second Vatican Council and friend to the current pontiff. Cardinal Ratzinger does not like much of the mischief that has been perpretated since the Council in the name of aggiornamento (I think that means "trendiness" in Italian), and makes it clear that the Council was not a license to go on making frivolous tinkerings with the sacred liturgy, ad nauseam, ad infinitum.

Many Church "progressives" (persons who believe that the editors of Commonweal Magazine have the charism of ex cathedra infallibility) enjoy depicting Cardinal Ratzinger as a fiend from the depths of hell. Don't believe this hyperventilating hype; in the name of "collegiality" and "liberty" and "fraternal collaboration," the leftist jacobins have almost succeeded in destroying the reputation of a fine man and a first-rate thinker.

Ratzinger demonstrates how the current breed of liturgists -- like Ezra Pound, pathologically intent on "making it new" -- often claim to represent the interests of the poor and the unlettered, all the while running roughshod over their wishes. The poor and unlettered are derided by the innovators for their naivete, their unsophistication, and their old-fashioned devotional practices. In fact, Ratzinger cites an instance where the poor parishioners of an Episcopalian church in New York City were instrumental in stopping the drastic "renovation" of a church they loved just the way it was.

"Mark my word," Thomas Merton once wrote to a friend, "there is no uglier species on the face of the earth than progressed Catholics, mean, frivol, ungainly, inarticulate, venomous, and bursting at the seams with progress into the secular cities and the Teilhardian subways." And Thomas Merton was not to be confused with Cardinal Ratzinger, who has been called every name in the book by those who pride themselves on their tolerance. Read the Ratzinger Report and don't believe the hype.

probably not for "beginners" but still excellent
I came to this book--or, rather, interview--as a person feeling the pull to Catholicism. This was probably not the best book to read this early in the journey to Rome, since it presumes something of a knowledge of the Church and its "crisis" in modern times, particularly after Vatican II--unlike, say, an introduction to Catholic theology or liturgy. In that respect, then, not being a Catholic, I was probably limited in what I could take from the book.

Nevertheless, I found it extremely fascinating and worthwhile. For starters, Ratzinger's understanding of the Church speaks directly to why I was drawn to it in the first place. He conveys a sense of the Church's community of believers, the communion of saints, emphasizing the very important communal aspects of the Catholic faith and suggesting that theology is not just a matter for individuals and academicians and "theologians"--it is pursued as a community. He describes this community, this unity quite wonderfully, I think: "harmonic wholeness."

His description as the Church going up against the powerful cultural forces of our time was also quite convincing and appealing. Indeed, the Church stands virtually alone against the tide of permissivity. Ratzinger discusses the difficulties the Church was facing in the mid-1980s, from feminism and liberation theology to the dangers of extreme individualism. His proposed solutions are probably not surprising to those familiar--among others: not an abandonment of Vatican II but a discovery of its true spirit; a re-affirmation of traditional doctrines (such as the Virgin Mary); a recognition that the Church is not democratic but sacramental and hierarchical instead; and a restoration of the virtues of motherhood and virginity.

All in all, a great survey of the Catholic Church's position in the modern world, which deals with problems as well as possible answers. Moreover, Ratzinger speaks, either directly or indirectly, to the problems facing the world in general, and his solutions could just as easily be applied in that broader context. This book, then, in many ways, transcends its intended Catholic audience--a true achievement.

Extremely Valuable for any Concerned Catholic
In this interview, Cardinal Ratzinger, perhaps the second most influential person in the Catholic church, shows everyone to be wrong about him. He is less conservative than the conservatives think and progressives fear. Ratzinger is an example of how the Catholic church is something entirely different, such that you cannot fit it's mission into a 'progressive' or 'conservative' form. Rather, there is simply Catholicism. Ratzinger's main goal is to make us, progressives and conservatives, understand that Vatican II cannot be ignored, but must exert its full affect upon the Church.

Good reference for the boards
This is a good reference for the NCETMB (National Certification Test). It gives summaries of a lot of information for things needed to know for the NCETMB. I was also recommended another few study guides for the NCETMB by other massage therapists who passed the NCETMB the first time. I'm glad I took their advice because these study guides were just awesome for the type of questions to prepare for on the NCETMB. The study guides I'm referring to is in three volumes that are the following and are available on amazon:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Volume 1 (isbn: 0971999643), Volume 2 (isbn: 0971999651), and Volume 3 (isbn: 097199966X) by Patrick Leonardi
These last three study guides helped me with passing the national certification test easily the first time. I highly recommend all four books. It's well worth the money.

Very good reference for NCBTMB
My study group and I used this book to review some facts for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. However, this book is written in a simple style that makes reading an easier task. There were some good information in the book for the test. ...

Great Preperation
This book, which seems small in comparison to some more comprehensive massage texts, is in actuality much more thourough and concise. After each chapter, there is an exam/review section structured after the actual national test. This is great practice for anyone about to take the NCBTMB. I highly recommend it.

RUNDOWN THE WIND cuts right to the American marrow.

Companion to Baksheesh and Brahman
This is the long awaited 2nd part of Joseph Campbell's journals of his trip to the Orient in the Fifties. The first, Baksheesh and Brahman, told of India, and this book tells of other countries but mainly Japan. The book reads like a journal with varied entries about traveling, people and places of interest, etc. The post-war mood is obvious, and the political climate is interesting.
This book is less naive than the first where JC was disappointed by the spiritual/caste hypocrisy of India, and more insightful of modern Oriental life.

The social and political world of Japan come to life
Sake & Santori is the fifth volume in a series of collected works of philosopher/spiritualist Joseph Campbell and focuses upon his cultural and spiritual interactions with Japan during his 1950s Asian journey. The changing social and political world of Japan come to life in a a set of entries relating Campbell's discourses with Japanese from all walks of life.

New Posthumous Publication/author of enduring interest!
". . . passages convey his appetite for the sights and sounds of Japan. For Campbell, religion was a subset of mythology, and the exposure to Japanese Buddhism was important to the next leg of his journey as a scholar. "Sake & Satori" is a glimpse of a supple mind, mid-career."

Useful, but sometimes tedious
The book is indeed well-balanced, and comprehensive (considering the dearth of information and research on this subject and its relatively recent rise to a prominent place in public discussion). Highly recommended for anyone seeking greater understanding of this issue.

It is best used as a resource, rather than read straight through. The arguments presented often get bogged down in wordy legal and political jargon. Not that there isn't a place for such books; I just wish it were more accessible for the average person, so I could give a copy to my grandparents to read, for example.

A must for every library on human relationships
A great collection of arguments both for and against Same-sex marriage. Although the author admits his bias (pro) and includes many of his own arguments and essays, the book is really rather evenly done. I suspect that most people will not be swayed either way because there is plenty of reinforcement for both sides. This is a book I would like to have in my library.

A Must-read for gays AND right-wing nuts!
Sullivan has put together a definitive compilation of pro-and-con-arguments over the issue of same-sex marriage--one which demands reading by both sides in the debate. It should not, however, simply and blindly be used to bolster one's own position on the issue. Use this reader to learn why the opposition feels the way they feel and believes what they believe. Understanding the intensity of and reasoning behind these positions will doubtless improve the intellectual quality of the debate on both sides (a point our friend from the Heritage Foundation [below] and his ilk miss entirely).

Chilling journal of siege's first 16 months
The author was an editor of Oslobodjenje, Sarajevo's independent newspaper that continued to publish daily throughout the 1992-1995 period that the city was besieged by Serb nationalist forces. The journal entries take in just the first 16 months of that siege. It is chilling to realize that the siege would continue for more than two years beyond the period covered by the journal-and that populations in some other cities and villages suffered even more than did Sarajevo's.

Sarajevo: A War Journal
The stories of Sarajevo and Bosnia are breath taking. Mr. Dizdarevic brings to light the day to day struggle that so many residents of Sarajevo went through. Not only physically, but mentally as well. Sarajevo is a very beautiful city and is getting more beautiful as it gets rebuilt. I can not imagine what it would have been like to live these stories that Mr. Dizdarevic writes about. This is a must read book!

Essential reading from ¿Books on Bosnia¿
Written in the first years of the siege by an editor at Oslobodjenje, these poignant war stories, compelling descriptions, and perceptive reflections from a city under fire constitute one of the most authoritative testimonies of the entire Bosnian war. A powerful and often scathing articulation of Sarajevo's disillusionment with Western inaction and betrayal of international norms and values.
