It is a very good book if you know their name or ss#.
I was adopted from Souel, Korea. My biological father is an American and my mother is Korean. So many children were left behind, overseas, by their American father`s, at this point the children had no idea where to turn. Years later the children eventually were adopted by someone with a big heart. We, the children, still have that void in our life wanting to know who we are, but there is not alot of information left for us half breeds.

Finally a great book on Advanced Accounting
I have never come across a texbook that makes consolidations easy----until now! It seems that most advanced accounting texts are written by Ph.D's to impress other Ph.D's. This one is different. It actually explains in a concise manner all important aspects of advanced accounting in a way that is easy to understand and apply. Unfortunately, it was written in 1995 and obviously doesn't contain some of the more recent exposure drafts on consolidations and derivative accounting for foreign exchange forward contracts.

Finally a top quality AMLS Text
This is a very good book for paramedic students, probably too advanced for people who haven't recieved paramedic training. AMLS is a very important topic that tends to be overshadowed by trauma and cardiac. If you want pictures, this isn't the book for you and this probably isn't the career for you. This is a textbook that is laid out well and easy to read is a very user friendly format.

This book provides additional information about advanced medical life support that you woulnd't really get in a "paramedic" textbook. There is a chapter on hypoperfusion (shock) that is the best that I've seen in a book targeted towards paramedics.

This is too advanced for non-paramedics. There are other medical books desgined for BLS providers that would be better suited to firefighters, first responders, & first aid folks. This book is really designed for paramedic level providers in either a paramedic curriculum or continuing education.

This review was written about the 1st Edition. The newer title has replaced it. This book went from 1999-2002, pretty standard for emergency medical texts.

Great Book!...
I previously purchased Rotman's First Course in Abstract Algebra, and fell in love with it. So when I saw he a Second Abstract Algebra book, I had to have it. I am currently taking a Graduate Level Modern Algebra course, and I find this book to be a great help in my Studies. I wouldn't be as interested in Modern Algebra as I am now if it weren't for this book. I love this book and I would reccomend it to anyone who is interested in Modern Algebra, or taking a course in Modern or Abstract Algebra.

Advanced Topics in the Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves (Graduate Texts in Mathematics, No 151)
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (November, 1994)
Author: Joseph H. Silverman
Amazon base price: $64.95
Average review score:

The most fascinating objects in all of mathematics
This book is a continuation of the authors earlier book on elliptic curves, which was also an excellent book, and treats the more specialized topics in elliptic curves. I cannot think of a branch of physics or engineering that has not made use of some facet of the theory of elliptic curves, and they have myriads of applications in other fields also, such as cryptography and financial engineering. The book is very organized, straightforward to read, the author summarizes well his intentions at the beginning of each chapter, and recommends several references for topics left out of the main discussion. Space does not allow a detailed chapter by chapter review, so I will confine my review to the first two chapters, which were of main interest to me. In summary, Chapter 1 discusses how to study elliptic curves by taking a collection of them, each member being isomorphic, and studying the properties of modular functions and differential forms on this collection, now thought of as an algebraic curve, called the moduli space. The famous linear operators, called the Hecke operators, act on the the space of modular forms, and they and their eigenfunctions satisfy the same set of relations. One then attaches the well-known L-series to the modular forms that has very interesting algebraic and analytic properties. In more detail, the author does the following in the chapter. The set of lattices in the complex plane modulo non-zero multiplication L/C* is considered, along with the set of elliptic curves over the complex plane modulo complex isomorphism. These collections are proven to be bijective by showing that L/C* is isomorphic to C by first putting a complex structure on it. This leads to a surjective map from the upper-half plane H to L/C*. Proving this to be injective leads to a bijection from SL2(Z)\H to L/C*. Since the matrix -1 acts trivially on H, one can quotient out +1 and -1 and obtain the modular group. The quotient space modular group\H is a 2-sphere minus a point, but can be made into a Riemann surface by extending the upper half-plane (called H*). The modular curve X(1) = modular group\H* results and is compact and Hausdorff. A complex structure is put on it, making it into a a Riemann surface of genus 0. Meromorphic functions on X(1) are rational functions of the j function, but more interesting functions are defined on X(1), namely the modular functions, such as the Eisenstein series. These considerations lead to a proof of the uniformization theorem for elliptic curves over C. For a given elliptic curve E, a study of the set of all isogenies to E of degree n is the same as that of studying degree n maps from E to other elliptic curves, which is called the dual isogeny, and leads to the Hecke operator. The Hecke operator and the homothety operator both map the divisor group of the lattice to itself, and generate a commutative algebra, called the Hecke algebra. Hecke operators can act on modular forms of weight 2k, and modular forms exist which are simultaneous eigenfunctions for the Hecke operator of weight 2k. It can be proven, but the author does not do so, that the normalized eigenfunctions form a basis for the space of cusp forms of weight 2k. The Fourier coefficients of the eigenfunction have an Euler product decomposition of a Dirichlet series attached to f, called the L-series. In the next chapter, the author considers elliptic curves that have extra endomorphisms, called complex multiplication. The collection of endomorphisms is usually taken to be the real numbers R, or R(K), which is the ring of integers of R tensored with the rational numbers. And, just as in chapter 1, he studies collections of elliptic curves, but here ones with the same endomorphism ring., called ELL(R) in the book. Asking the question of how to construct an elliptic curve with complex multiplication by a particular R(K) leads him to studying the ideal class group of R(K), and this group is shown to act transitively on ELL(R(K)). The author also shows that every elliptic curve with complex multiplication is defined over an algebraic extension of Q. Several interesting examples of ellipti curves with complex multiplication are given. After a brief review of class field theory, the author proves that K(j(E)) is the Hilbert class field H and shows how the Galois group of H/K acts on j(E). The torsion points of E are then used to generate abelian extensions of K, using the Weber function for E/H, thus generalizing the usual cyclotomic extensions of number theory. Very interesting examples are given of these constructions and it is also shown that j(E) is an algebraic integer. Then after a brief review of cyclotomic class field theory, the author proves what he calls the main theorem of complex multiplication, which says that an automorphism of the torsion subgroup is essentially analytic multiplication by an idele of K. This theorem allows one to define a Grossencharacter associated to an elliptic curve with complex multiplication. For such a curve one can then define an L-series and show that it can be expressed as a Hecke L-series with Grossencharacter.

EXCEPTIONALLY EXCELLENT BOOK TO READ
Dear Reader:

Joseph E. Harris' best selling book "African-American Reaction to War in Ethiopia 1936-1941" prevail vividly the historical facts and the African-Americans and other Africans reactions. Mr. Harris dedicated his research to bring the strong relationship between Ethiopians and African Americans. You will read more in detail about the aggressive movement of the African-American to defend Ethiopia from Italians' fascism in the following manner: the African-Americans wrote a letter to the city mayor all the way to President Roosevelt. They boycotted the Italian own business and demonstrated on the America streets against Italian. They enlisted to go to Ethiopia to fight the war beside their Ethiopians brother and sisters.

I'm going to take the direct quote from the book to show the deepness of the relationship and its highest pick during mid 1930's as one of the African-American statement.

...a tendency to avoid the label of Negro in favor of Ethiopian. One black American said, "I do not want to be called Negro, colored, or [n-word]. Either term is an insult to me or you. Our rightful name is Ethiopian." (P. 7)

African Americans was significantly enlisted in different cities in America to go to Ethiopia to fight the Fascist Italians. The American State Department issued a statement based on the legislation:

..."American citizen shall be deemed to have expatriated himself when he had been naturalized in any foreign state in conformity with its laws."

The African Americans viewpoint to the American State Department as Orhardo Andrews, of New York City, stated.

"First the Africans who are residing here and all the West did not come here voluntarily, but by an act of kidnapping which today is punishable in the United States by death...As for loosing our citizenship of this country, we don't give a nick about that. This citizenship is of no value to us.... If you country can not protect us when we are citizens and living here, why should we worry about it?" (P. 41)

In the same book you would learn about Ethiopians who were resided in American. Dr. Melaku Bayen was one of prominent among the many Ethiopians who worked with African American in New York City. He was also the editor and the father of "ETHIOPIAN REVIEW" magazine as far back as in the early 1930. You can request the copy of the magazine form American Congress Library. The magazine encompassed all the black people in the globe. It was rich with Pan-Africanism ideology.

I found it diligently researched book to learn the oldest relationship between Ethiopian and African-Americans. I recommend for anyone who would like to learn the magnitude support Ethiopia received during 1935 to 1941 mainly from our African American brothers and sisters.

I'm certain the book will also shed some light to understand the recent Ethio-Eritrea border conflict.

After Job Loss:Moving On (With Workbook) by Lynn Joseph PhD
This is an excellent program that provides a systematic approach that real people can use to overcome the emotional baggage associated with job loss. When someone does not find a way to deal with the emotions that accompany job loss -- anger, confusion, and feeling like a victim - those emotions come involuntarily 'screaming through' in every one of their employment interviews. What the candidate ends up projecting, then, is the demeanor of an angry, resentful person -- not the kind of person they are and want to be! I make that statement as a human resources professional who has interviewed thousands of people in a career that has spanned over twenty-five years.

While using guided imagery and visualization approaches may be new ground for many people - I recommend it because it really does work.

You might find a book or other materials that look a little slicker, but if what you are looking for is results - I highly recommend this workbook and CD!

Joe Balaz is a vital Hawaiian poet, then as now.
Joseph Puna Balaz is a vital and important Hawaiian poet, then (1970s) as now (1990s), so anything he writes is of interest. This book is his early poetry, and sets the stage for the later, more indigenized and mongrel works. The vitality and wit of the man always shine through, in voices crazed and caring: buy Electric Lau Lau (CD) too!
