This is a wonderful narration of the New Testament. I listen to it in my car on the way to and from work, and I really look forward to hearing it. The narrator is not unctious or overbearing, but very expressive and interesting, and extremely easy to understand. And of course, you can't go wrong with the material! The numbering of each Bible chaper is noted, so it would be possible to follow along reading your own Bible. I just wish the St. Joseph people would come out with a narration of The Old Testament! This is well worth the money.

This is a wonderful format for looking at the lives of Saints. This book shows how the saints have conquered problems that we all have to face. I highly recommend this book.

I am not familiar with three of the gentlemen who are responsible for this book, but I am fortunate to have known one of them: Dr. Sal Primeggia. I was privileged to take his course, THE ITALIAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE in college in the 1980's. An extraordinary course delivered with intense passion and conviction by a very extraordinary man.

I congratulate Dr. Primeggia and his fellow scholars on this wonderful piece of work, and encourage readers, especially Italian-Americans (although let's not limit it there), to devour this awesome book.

I hope Dr. Primeggia sees this review because I want to tell him in this rather public forum that those who have participated in the aforementioned course shall never forget his words and his lessons. Many generations of students owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for what he has given and indeed continues to give.

What a legacy to leave behind. Thank you, Dr. Primeggia!

Mr. Davis wrote a very touching account of the early life of a wild African Spot-Necked otter, based on the behavior of the species as he studied it in captivity over many years. Although written as fiction, the behaviors presented are very true to the actual animal, and only the specific details of Samaki's life and thoughts are really fictional. The text of some of the mating behavior described in the book may be unsuitable for smaller children, but it is very tasteful and not graphic, just explicit. The level of detail with which Mr. Davis described the behavior of Samaki and the other otters is truly astounding, and aside from being an enjoyable read, the book is about as educational as any non-fiction work written about otters.

Human expansion in the form of real estate development is threatening wild life ecology at home and around the world. In Saving Endangered Species With Real Estate Development, Joseph Woytowitz offers an innovative, original, yet very practical and effective solution to real estate development and the preservation of habitat. He gives a detailed description of the applications and benefits of building connecting condominiums and other buildings around a large property much like a giant cage wall enclosing a complete and self-sustaining biodiversity of wildlife ecosystems that would also give the building residents fantastic wildlife views, while making saving endangered species and habitats both possible and profitable. The residential walls facing the habitat could be shatterproof glass able to withstand pressures up to 40,000 pounds, and upper floors could be caged or open terraces giving residents superb views from their homes, restaurants, workplaces, or shopping malls. Humans would not have direct access to the habitat from their homes, instead they could travel along trails surrounded by cages, leading to various social centers throughout the habitat. Saving Endangered Species With Real Estate Development is novel, original, and thought-provoking reading recommended to environmentalists, developers, policy makers, and anyone concerned with today's rapidly diminishing and quality degraded wildlife habitats.

Coming from a Christian background, but interested in all of humankind's rich legacy of scripture, I began to run across quotes from and references to the Pirke Abothe or "Sayings of the Fathers". Eventually, I found this singular book, a tractate of the Mishnah of our Jewish brothers and sisters.

One cannot help but be struck in reading the basic text by the reverence for the Holy, the love of people, and the struggle to share and instill this reverence and love in all of us. But this unique rendering is threaded with warm and deep illustrations by Michoel Muchnik and appealing and penetrating interpretations by the translator Rabbi Joseph H. Hertz. It's a book to own and cherish and to share with your friends.

An truly wonderful treatment of the statistics of scans (clusters of events in some window of time and/or space). The first half of the book walks through applications & formulas, the second half adds hard-core details, proofs, etc. It is well written and contains many good examples with copious references to primary literature.

This book is far better than Runs and Scans with Applications by N. Balakrishnan and M. Koutras, which I judge to be an effort to impress the reader with how well the authors can write convoluted
statistical proofs rather than actually teach the reader something useful, a tendency in statistical texts which I despise.

I have been studying Spanish for 5 years now, and am currently teaching Spanish at the high school level. Although I am married to a native-speaker of Spanish and speak only Spanish in the home, I remained unsure of my usage, especially concerning certain verb tenses such as the conditional and the subjunctive.

I already own and have read a wide collection of Spanish grammar and reference books. Unlike the large, comprehensive volumes the serious language learner inevitably acquires, this book provides short, concise explanations which one is unlikely to forget.

Being relatively new to the teaching profession, Schaum's Easy Outline for Spanish has also helped me enormously in the classroom.

As the publishers promise, the reader does "get the essence the easy way".

The best thing about Schaum's outlines is the concise theory followed by lots of problems. I used this book a lot during my 300 level electromagnetics class. I didn't use the disks too much, but users of mathcad may find them useful, or others who need to visualize things.

Professor Monks has done an excellent job of summarizing and giving worked out problems for a very useful field of industry that is often neglected in pure and applied mathematics. This neglect, especially at the pre-college level but also at higher levels, makes it harder for management and operations research college instructors to convey the quantitative methods to their students. These methods are fascinating and include statistical forecasting (with time series and exponential smoothing, correlation, regression), statistical quality control, production scheduling and control (linear programming, dynamic programming), manufacturing /service and maintenance (queuing theory, reliability, simulation, calculus), budgeting, inventory, etc. I recommend this book for everybody in business for themselves or for others and for students at all levels in order to tie in their studies more practically with the real economic world. In addition, the more people are familiar with the methods, the less employment mistakes will be made since so many of the methods interact with hiring, firing, temporary layoffs, etc. With more talent in the field, alternative methods can be developed and tried (for example, present theory assumes that a lot of things involve independent or non-influencing events, but a lot of events are very interdependent and the theory needs far more development there - see my review of Castillo).
