Pornography in America: A Reference Handbook

Best reference guide
The book should be used in many college courses; it covers almost every aspect of the subject imaginable and is, I think, a better source for learning the field than even de Grazia's _Girls Lean Back Everywhere_ or Green's _Encyclopedia of Censorship_. The sections on court decisions, legislation, genres, social context and theory, history, and distributors are very strong. There is no other book where one can find so much so coherently organized and lucidly treated.

The Family Photo Album Of The Porsche Factory
Even though this book is a little expensive, it is one of my favorite books on Porsche. Weitmann lived just a short distance from the Porsche factory, and for years was the official photographer for Porsche. His photos, and those of several other photographers, make this the 'family photo album' of the Porsche factory. You may recognize many of these photos because they are some of the most famous Porsche photos ever. Combined with Michael Cotton's fine editing and writing, this later revised-edition has grown to over 400 pages and covers most of the Porsche production and racing up to 1991. It is an absolute 'must' for any collector of books about Porsches. Buy your copy before it disappears from the shelf.

Two Book Length Novels, Three Long Tales, Six Short Stories

I was amazed to see that I am the first to review this classic book. I borrowed this book and brought it with me to read while helping deliver a yacht.

The trip was a memorable one, for many reasons, not least among them was finishing "The Nigger in the Narcissus" a story of a dying black man's anger during last days of life aboard a ship, "Typhoon" the story of a steam trapped in a hurricane, and "Youth" the story of a second mate's trip to Asia on a dilapidated ship.

I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the storms in "Narcissus " and "Typhoon".

It is said that truth is stranger than fiction. Conrad's stories may be fiction, but they evoke a sense of realism that no other author manages to capture.

Conrad, a Pole, is arguably the best English writer of all time. His characters are unique and real, and the stories are real world, challenging situations that are unpredictable and yet follow the laws of human nature, and are therefore somewhat more than real.

This book is a nice compact size and print in type that is also easy to read. There is enough material here to carry with you on your voyage, wherever that may be.

If you want to bring only one book with you on your next trip, this would be a good choice.

Portrait of a Woman/a Novel: A Novel

Strong, Delightful Characters, Marvelous Style
I'm not familiar with Roccosalvo as an author but this book was a tremendous delight for me to find. I found the characters to be strong and interesting and the writing brisk, clear and delightful. The developement of the relationship between the protagonist, writer Phillip Stratton and his "muse", Mother Ambrose with the "story within a story" elements used to display the interplay of relationships was natural and very well executed and Phillip's dilemma and his struggles were compelling for me. The only criticism I have is that the final denouement seemed weakened by how the fact that it is so expected and yet so wimpy in it's execution. Nonetheless, I agree with the jacket blurb of James V. Schall of Georgetown: "A gentle, riveting 'portrait'...a gripping and tender novel."

Portrait of Terror

A GRIPPING MYSTERY OF RAPE AND MURDER.
The deft narrative skills of Joseph Masiello are superb, in this tremendously popular rape-murder thriller. With subtle sub-plot changes and intricate story telling, Masiello elevates this griping drama and suspense of this fascinating tale. It pits a small-time pervert against the power and influence of Lane Garrett Detective Agency. Masiello's talent gives life to the entire cast: from apathetic police to slippery crime elements and rape victim, Christian George. . A true page turner. With the ending, a total surprise, culminating on the last page...and the last word.

A MUST READ!
Forget Tom Peters and the other self-aggrandizing gurus and prophets of management whose insights into theoretical and social changes are as deep as a sheet of paper. David Boje has established himself as THE leading thinker in management and organization theory. Almost single-handedly, through his prolific writing and public talks, Boje has transformed the paradigms of the business world. Boje is to business and managment what Carl Sagan was to science: not only a gifted thinker and writer, but also an indispensible popularizer of crucial disciplinary changes. This book, co-authored with prestigious colleagues, brings the business world into contact with feminism, critical theory, ecology (here Gephart offers major contribuions), and postmodernism in a sparkingly lucid manner. By now, every academic discipline has taken a postmodern turn, even business and management. This anthology explains what is at stake and offers the new maps and compasses for negotiating changes in advanced global capitalism and for democratizing the workplace. It is an invaluable teaching resource for all those interested in the paradigm shifts altering the theory and practice of business and management, and is fully accessible to a nonacademic business audience who want to keep apace with current changes. Indeed, anyone interested in postmodern theory and how it is hardly a passing "fad" would profit from understanding how postmodern insights play out in this field. From my own disciplinary standpoint in philosophy, I learned a great deal and I highly recommend this work.

A Postmodern Reader

Good survey of postmodern writers
An excellent combination of essays covering the spectrum of differing views on postmodernity, which is described in the book to be an important shift in the western culture comparable with the Renaissance. The preface material at the start of each part of the book does a great job of preparing the lay reader for the overall argument in the essays that follow. A warning though, many of the essays require some familiarity with basic "traditional" philosophical ideas and terms.

Great position about postmodern literature/kulutural/philosophical strategies. I think this book is a part of antimetaphysics thinking; "thinking between".

Interactive CD extremely useful!
This book has strategies for question techniques that I've never come across. It provided a question metrix so I can easily remember and use them. I've had numerous sales and negotiating courses but never found anything quite this usefull.

I especially liked the communication template in the CD attached in the back of the book! Its like a decision tree that prompts my next questions with my clients. I use it now in all my sales calls and even e-mail it to all my sales staff for a training tool. Most practical books I've read!
