Discussing Death and Dying with Children
I highly recommend this book to all parents and teachers who wish to talk with their young children about death and dying, especially if someone close to the child has a terminal illness. Big Bird goes through the same emotions and questions that we, especially children, may have after someone close to us dies, so it opens up wonderful dialogue for the children to express their feelings. The book's front and back cover also explains how this book can be used to discuss these issues with children of all ages. I read this book to a three-year-old in my preschool and found that it was able to bring memories of my late father to me.

A fun little book about emotions
I picked this up in a supermarket as a pick-me-up for my son when he had a cold and now I'm getting a fresh copy--the first one has been loved to pieces!

This book is roughly Elmo-shaped. Each two-page spread has a verse based on the song, "If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands," such as "If you're mad and you know it, stamp your feet," and "If you're sad and you know it cry boo-hoo." Some of them are a bit unexpected in my view, such as, "If you're proud and you know it stand up tall." However, they're all positive ways of expressing emotions and my son LOVES to do all the motions.

It isn't a classic, but it's great fun!

Imperial Guard: Book 1 of the Cirrus Cycle
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (September, 2000)
Author: Joseph E. O'Day
Amazon base price: $14.95
Used price: $11.95
Collectible price: $10.95

Imperial Guard Fits Comfortably in Star Wars Tradition
O'Day's first science-fiction novel, Imperial Guard, fits comfortably enough in a Star Wars tradition to be predictable. The protagonist, Timothy Brogan, is a hardworking, lower-class youth, steeped in integrity and a strong family religious faith. He makes good in a dark, competitive world that seeks to compromise his ethics and his personal wholeness.

The story line is part buddy film, part romance, part galactic blood and guts, and part suffering hero. What's refreshing about the story is that the hero risks failure in all his relationships as he dares to examine the real motives behind his drive to control his own destiny.

What is unpredictable about the novel is what transpires when this freshman Imperial Guard makes deliberate choices that go against the psyche of our contemporary heros of today. What the readers are forced to ponder is whether they dare tap deeply into the same source as Timothy Brogan did.

A guideline for in-house facilitators
If you are already familiar with the theory of TQM, this book is helpful for you to implement TQM in your company. The author presented his methodology Five-Phase Approach(TM) in detail, so that the in-house facilitators can incorporate this approach into their own implementation plan. For those companies want to save consultation fees, this book is a good saving.

A necessary read
I think that any LDS person who is really trying to understand the priesthood ban to the African American race should read this book. It is the reflections of the first (reported) black man to have received the priesthood. He shares his joy of finding out that he could hold the priesthood. He also talks about his struggle to marry, when at first it could not be in the temple. It by no means has all of the answers or is even pulitzer prize winning book, but I am surprised that no member of the church has written a review on this yet. I think the priesthood ban is something we must admit was a part of our past and learn about it to determine if we really can accept this part of our history

A Solid Resource on the Subject of IBD
This compilation of various articles written by IBD experts from across the country is an official Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America publication and that endorsement alone should indicate its quality and content. Every chapter in this book is well written and scrupulously up-to-date with excellent references and resources. Chapter subjects are very holistic in that both the medical and emotional aspects of IBD are represented. There is even a chapter on the use of alternative medicine in the treatment of IBD! Definitely purchase this book for your library.

Humorous perspective of corporate communication
This book was a funny and refreshing look at the way corporate America communicates. The authors have set the book up as an alphabetical listing of issues in the workplace from the perspective of their main characters: the Infomaniacs. Although it takes a humorous perspective, it is an accurate portrayal of the real world

The Inheritors: An Extravagant Story (Collected Works of Joseph Conrad)

wow
Most fans of Conrad seem to consider his Ford collaborations to be secondary writing. I disagree though. Although this book does not rate with Lord Jim or Nostomo as a great work, it's still a well-crafted, thoughtful piece of writing. Conrad as a non-genre sf wrier, so for this--his only SF foray--to be as good as it is is impressive to say the least. Unfortunately, there is from time to time a narrative unease between Conrad and Ford that somewhat keeps the novel from perfection. Still, it is stylish, sophisticated, and crisply written and handles its material deftly. It should be more widely known.
