Why conservatives and liberals alike love and hate this book
Using accurate, verified documentation, confirmed by subsequent Congressional hearings, Douglass, a career NSA employee and US War College professor, records the 1960s Soviet buildup of South American drug cartels and their infrastructure. The goals were to obtain funding for local wars of liberation, destabilize the US military, US inner cities and youth with drugs, and compromise South American politicians. Ironically, liberals sometimes like this information, as it provides a clear rationale for the US countermeasures, which allegedly included similar tactics.

Coming Out of Denial
The shocking inside story of how the Soviet Union bosses contrived, plotted, planned and then put into action a world-wide drug offensive against the West would be unbelievable if the writing were not so scholarly and well-documented. Douglass's careful work that gets at all the horrible details of the story of our undoing by drugs is worthy of careful reading and rereading by intelligent people everywhere. Beginning with the very effective initiative against our soldiers, up to the present, there are very few families that have not, by this time, been touched by the awful epidemic. But embarrassment, guilt and other intensities apparently have crippled our abilities to even talk about the problem, much less fight an effective war against it. And then there is our government's impotence if not collusion. We are in denial and in the closet. It is time we came out. This unique book helps immensely in that effort. By seeing how the drug plague is really a war being waged against us, we are in a position to come out of the closet of denial and begin to take appropriate action. Red Cocaine is a must read for parents, helping and medical professionals, religious people, educators, employers, the military and our law makers and enforcers. Roberta Gilbert M.D.

Explains the conspiracy of silence on the drug trade...
I recognize that their are no easy solutions to the plague of drugs. It has spawned numerous criminal and social pathologies that erode the freedom and stability of the West. America's war on drugs has only contributed to the growth of a police state, which has been wholly ineffective at curbing the drug trade while eroding our constiutional freedoms in the process. One solution is that the public began to understand the concerted communist involvement in the drug trade, both past and present. Reading this book is a good way to start.

Dr. Joseph Douglass brings the hidden truth to light about the large Sino-Soviet role in the drug trade designed to demoralize and weaken the West. He does a good job at tackling a difficult and largely untouched subject where credibility is at stake. Red Cocaine proves to be straight-forward, well-documented and meticulously footnoted by Douglass. Douglass offers disturbing revelations from interviews with high-ranking communist defectors within the Soviet intelligence establishment.

Perhaps in the next decade, when the U.S. escalates its drug war against "Marxist Narco-Terrorists" in South America, people will rediscover this ever timely ground-breaking classic.

One of the best Christian books on the environment
I'm the director of a Christian environmental website, and I've read dozens of Christian books on ecology and the environment. This is one of my all-time favorites. I love this book! It may very well be the best book on the Biblical basis for environmental stewardship! Buy it for yourself, or buy it as a textbook for environmental study. Outstanding! What makes it particularly unique and special is that it is written by 4 biologists! My only complaint is that there is little or no mention of the great Christian conservationist, John Paul II. It's still very much worth a read.

This is perfect for a glance at the Christian Env. Ethic!
This book has changed my life by showing me how we, as Christians, must take a closer and more careful look at how we have a responsibility in ecology and envirmentalism today. Scripture references make it "an enviromental Bible study" and forces the reader to dig deeper into his or her beliefs. Take time to think about what you REALLY believe and change others by sharing this powerful book!

Foundational resource for advocacy of creation care
This book describes the biblical basis for the caretaking of creation--a relevant issue for all members of the global community. The book is written by four professors who explain the importance of understanding the value of all creation, including human beings. "Redeeming Creation" describes the unique role we humans have in ruling and subduing the remainder of creation as well as some of the consequences that have resulted from our misunderstanding of this role of ruling and subduing. Much published material has focued on ways that Christianity as a religion has exploted creation and exasperated the environmental and social pains of our planet. "Redeeming Creation" illuminates the claim that a correct understanding of the Bible is necessary not only for Christians to live by, but also for all members of the global community to conform to as we seek to address environmental and social injustices.

Ryerse-Ryerson Family
I thank the authors, Thomas and Phyllis for this great book. Because of this book, I was able to connect my gr grandmother Lillian May (Ryerse) Fergus and the rest of her family. I now know a little more of who I am and where my ancestors came from. The book is very interesting to read and has made me very proud of my Ryerse ancestors. I would recommend this book to anyone they definitely will not be sorry. Thanks again Thomas and Phyllis.

Genealogy Book Surpasses Expectations!
Tom Ryerson & Phyllis Ryerse have made family history come alive with this extraordinary book. Not only has their painstaking research paid off in an easy-to-follow genealogy of the Ryerse-Ryerson Family, but this book should serve as a model for all those interested in chronicling their family history. The Ryerse-Ryerson Family tells the 400-year history of one of the oldest Dutch families to settle in the US using rich text, pictures and maps. Far from the dry recitation of facts found in many books of this ilk, Tom and Phyllis have written a book that is both informative and entertaining. For all genealogy or history buffs, this book is a "must read"!

The Rest of the Story
I was never so happy to receive a book, as this one. Through all the hard work and many years of reseach, the authors, Thomas Ryerse and Phyllis Ryerson, connected the rest of my family line with my 4th great grandmother, Eleanor Augusta Ryerse. The book is wonderful, with pictures of family, maps, headstones, stories of the past telling how life was for them. Makes your family come alive again. I rate this book five stars! Saducismus Triumphatus: Or, Full and Plain Evidence Concerning Witches and Apparitions
Published in Hardcover by Scholars Facsimilies & Reprint (June, 1966)
Author: Joseph Glanvill
Amazon base price: $75.00
Average review score:

Early Investigations of Witches, Ghosts, and Poltergeists
The "Saducismus Triumphatus" of Joseph Glanvill, originally published in 1681, is one of the seminal works on witches, demons, ghosts, and other paranormal happenings. Glanvill was a distinguished member of the famous Royal Society (of which Isaac Newton was a member) and was disturbed by the rising skepticism and disbelief concerning demons and witches in the late 17th century. Glanvill believed, perhaps justly, that a rising disbelief in ghosts and spirits would eventually lead to a disbelief in Christianity. Glanvill, as an active opponent to Atheism, set out to prove, using scientific means, that ghosts and demons were in fact real, and continued to be a menace to a good Christian society. In doing so, Glanvill produced what has been called the first book on psychical research and what is generally considered the most influential of all English works on witchcraft and the paranormal.

Glanvill relates a number of stories that he collected from friends and colleagues concerning witchery, demons, and other supernatural beings, though he himself witnessed one first hand. Glanvill personally visited the Mompesson house and claimed to witness the doings of the famous Demon Drummer of Tedworth, supposedly the disembodied spirit of a dead soldier who was thought to haunt the place. The other tales deal with other interesting incidents of levitations, flying witches, sabbats, and much more. It is understandable why this work was so popular in its day despite the growing disbelief in the existence of witches.

As noted below, Glanvill's works were highly influential on the Boston clergyman Cotton Mather and were referenced in his "Wonders of the Invisible World", a defence of the Salem Witch Trials published shortly after that infamous affair. Glanvill's attempt to use science and reason to empirically document the supernatural was a first and this book is a valuable addition to the literature of the paranormal.

Fascinating folklore and strong prose
Joseph Glanvill was alarmed by what he perceived to be a rise of scepticism that accounts of witches and witch-trials were reliable. He wrote this tome, posthumously published in 1681, to convince his contemporaries that they were still worth sniffing out.

Whether he makes his case or not will ultimately be up to the reader. But what you will get is a collection of entertaining folklore, concerning not only witches, but also demon drummers and other alleged diabolical manifestations. All of these stories are written up in a quite good seventeenth century style.

Glanvill strongly influenced Cotton Mather and his -Wonders of the Invisible World-, which clearly owes a great deal to this work. [Got to hand it to Mather; he came up with a far superior title.] Students of the Salem witch trials will want to know this book as well.

The one of the best witch-magic books
I think so, this is a very rare book and in spite of this, it has a low price.

This book contains information about the witch culture( in the Middle Ages ) and about magic.

I can recommend this book for everybody.

Mind Blowing ! ! !
I got this book about a month ago, and its become an obsession. Literally I cant put it down. It is mind blowing to say the least. - - Schillinger presents an entire new way of looking at music. It is very relevent for the modern Jazz improviser (Personally, I play Jazz organ and have a penchant for Hard Bop and Soul Jazz.) The jargon does get a bit intimidating at times, but once you sit down with your instrument and fiddle around, whole new worlds open up even if you dont understand it fully. You begin to see the beauty and logic behind some of your favorite compositions. - - I had a ball the first night I read it experimenting with different melodies by doing permutations... Its even helped me figure out all that wierd lingo in the Yusef Lateef book on Scales and Patterns. - - The one thing Ill say though... this book aint for dabblers. You gotta have a lot of time and motivation on your hands. I spend about 12 hours a day at my instrument... and even that aint enough, so for me, the book is great. But if youre not lucky or disciplined enough to have this kind of time however, still are curious about more mathematical ways of envisioning creative Jazz lines, I suggest JIMMY AMADIEs book JAZZ IMPROV: HOW TO PLAY IT; HOW TO TEACH IT.

a must for every serious contemporary composer and/or improv
although terminology might be a little out-dated(both mathematicaly and musicaly),the book contains an overwhelming number of ideas and aprroaches toowards melody, scales, harmony etc. Some of these ideas have been exploited PARTIALLY {for instance:Coltrane's symetric scales on Giant Steps) in modern music, but there's plenty left for any style of music. As an avid student of modern jazz and fusion improvisation I havn't been able to come across a larger body of knowledge even amongst such Berkley "legends" as goodrick, bergonzi etc.

A 30 year lasting impression
I read the first volume of Schillingers work in about 1960 and it has remained in my mind since then. It is a mathematical template that can be overlayed to any music form. It doesn't replace the creative process, but gives one a way to develop his germinal ideas into a full musical form. I think this will be especially true if these ideas are applied using the computer technology now available

Season of Fire: The Confederate Strike on Washington
This book is must reading for anyone interested in Civil War history or who lives in the areas between Monocacy Junction and Washington, D. C. where this action occurred. The book provides a detailed synopsis of the action and is loaded with details of the local history, much of which remains intact for anyone interested in retracing the course of Early's raid.

A very good synopsis of the 1964 valley campaign.
Mr. Judge does history a great justice by writing the history of the Invasion of Washington from its inception. He covers the early phase from a confederate defeat at Cloyds Mountain in Pulaski County just south of Blacksburg (VA. Tech), takes you to Lynchburg and Early's arrival and the subsequent journey to Washington D.C. Gives the reader the complete field of study of the campaign. Wonderful description of future Baltimore Police Chief Harry Gilmore who was a colorful confederate calavary leader as well as a vivid description of the hidden valley of the Shennodoah, Fort Valley.

extremely interesting
good chronological account of Early's 1864 campaign many interesting side notes to a little studied Confederate actio

awsome book
All of you who are truly searching for intimacy with Christ, READ THIS BOOK. It clears up a lot of ideas in the Bible that most people didn't catch. Through visions and dreams, Dale was about to supposedly walk with Christ and meet in his presence. One must read the book to truly understand, but as I have read, it almost seemed like Dale was going crazy and I'm afraid to believe it...but from what I read and understand, being fifteen, It does line up with the Bible. I had gone to a cult when I was younger and now I am quite cautious when I read this. All people should check it out and make sure it does line up..

If you want to have your SPIRITUAL EYES OPENED !

It is worth losing a little sleep over. You will be rewarded for it. You can FIND HIM NOW.

The Guide
If there is a prophetic guide for this end-time revival, this would have to be the book! By taking you to the true "Secret Place," Dr. Dale A. I'd love to have a beer with O'Connor !
I purchased this book while on vacation in Ireland. I had never read anything by him but the quick description on the back made me laugh so....thought I'd give it a try. I'm happy to report that the laughter did not stop there. This was a wonderful, entertaining book. I found myself smiling throughout and constantly reading passages aloud to friends. I can't wait to read more by him !

His best stuff
O'Connor is at his best here -- one of those few books that make you laugh out loud. He also hits the nail on the head with the Irish male psyche -- I understand my Belfast-bred husband so much better now.

Wonderfully Funny
I picked up a copy of this in Dublin to read on the long ferry/bus back to London. I bought it for the cover and title (he's upside down) and fell in love with the prose. Funny, hip, sarcastic, deep, shallow, and drunk... Joe does it all. Much better than his travels in America book, this one is continualy stolen by my friends... A wonderful wonderful book Reminds me of "Sex Tips for Girls" and "Good Omens" w/o the fiction angle.
